  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Will practice Wednesday

Coach Klint Kubiak said Jeanty (ankle) will practice Wednesday, Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com reports.

Jeanty has been sidelined since suffering a low-ankle sprain Aug. 23, but Kubiak expressed optimism last week that his star running back will be available for Week 1. Getting on the practice field Wednesday would be a strong sign that Jeanty will be able to suit up Sunday versus Miami.

  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Logs full practice Wednesday

Jeanty (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.

When Jeanty left practice on Aug. 23, the initial concerns were significant because the running back wasn't able to put much pressure on his right leg as he exited the field. Adam Schefter of ESPN subsequently reported that Jeanty wasn't dealing with a long-term issue, and the diagnosis eventually revealed a low-ankle sprain. After logging all activity at Wednesday's session, Jeanty now is in the clear for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Dolphins, though he may still yield some RB reps to reserves Mike Washington and even Dylan Laube.

  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Optimism for Week 1

Coach Klint Kubiak expressed optimism Wednesday that Jeanty (ankle) will be ready for Week 1 against the Dolphins, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Jeanty hasn't practiced this week after suffering what is believed to be a low-ankle sprain back on Aug. 23, but the running back has been working off to the side with trainers in an effort to get ready for the start of the regular season. Once the Raiders are required to release true injury reports next week, there will be a better idea of Jeanty's availability for the regular-season opener. Mike Washington and Dylan Laube are next up for carries if Jeanty is unable to play against Miami.

  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Remains sidelined Wednesday

Jeanty (ankle) remained sidelined at practice Wednesday, Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com reports.

Jeanty worked off to the side with trainers Tuesday, as he attempts to get past an ankle injury suffered Aug. 23. It's believed to be a low-ankle sprain for the second-year running back. Jeanty has 11 more days before the Raiders open the season at home against the Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 13. He'll likely need to practice in some fashion next week to have a chance to play, otherwise Mike Washington and Dylan Laube would be in line to carry the backfield load for Las Vegas.

  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Working with trainers Tuesday

Jeanty (ankle) is working off to the side during Tuesday's practice, Sam Warren of The Athletic reports.

This marks the first time Jeanty has been participating during a media viewing period since the running back sustained an ankle injury during practice Aug. 23. Jeanty was initially not out with the team for Tuesday's session but has since gotten on the field to work with trainers. There are still some hurdles to be cleared before Jeanty's Week 1 status is confirmed, but the second-year back appears to be making progress.

  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Not spotted Tuesday

Jeanty (ankle) was not spotted at Tuesday's practice, Sam Warren of The Athletic reports.

Head coach Klint Kubiak said Friday that he's "counting on" Jeanty to be available for Week 1, but the second-year running back will need to get back on the practice field first. The Raiders will open their season with a Sept. 13 game against the Dolphins, so Jeanty still has time to heal up from his sprained ankle. Rookie Mike Washington would be in store for an expanded role versus Miami if Jeanty is out or limited for that contest.

  • Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Being counted on for opener

Jeanty's ankle injury is being monitored in advance of Week 1, but per head coach Klint Kubiak, the Raiders are "counting on him" to be available, Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official website reports.

The extent of the injury Jeanty sustained at Sunday's practice session has not been revealed, but Kubiak's comments provide reason to believe the Raiders will have their top running back available for the season opener against the Dolphins on Sept. 13. Jeanty will have over two weeks to rest and recover before the campaign gets underway. Should he encounter any hiccups, Mike Washington remains next in line in the Las Vegas backfield.
