  • Isaiah Davis RB | NYJ

Jets' Isaiah Davis: Unlikely to play vs. Giants

Davis (ankle) is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.

Davis has been working through a minor ankle injury, and the 2024 fifth-rounder will be held out of Saturday's exhibition contest to avoid aggravating the issue. If Kene Nwangwu (calf) is also ruled out, Donovan Edwards and Lawrance Toafili would be in line to manage the bulk of backfield carries, assuming Breece Hall and Braelon Allen are limited to the first couple of offensive series. Davis will aim to return to practice next week and be available for the Jets' preseason finale against the Eagles on Friday.

  • 49ers' Patrick Taylor: Won't return vs. Las Vegas

Taylor (shoulder) has been ruled out for the rest of Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Taylor suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter and will leave Saturday's game with four carries for minus-six yards. He'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, leaving his status for the 49ers' preseason finale against the Raiders on Saturday, Aug. 23 up in the air. With Taylor and Corey Kiner (leg) both suffering injuries, Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Jeff Wilson will handle backfield duties for the 49ers for the rest of Saturday's exhibition contest against Las Vegas.

  • Khalil Herbert RB | NYJ

Colts' Khalil Herbert: Doesn't play vs. Green Bay

Herbert (undisclosed) did not play in the Colts' 23-19 preseason loss to the Packers on Saturday.

Herbert has been sidelined for the past week due to an undisclosed injury, which prevented him from suiting up in Saturday's exhibition contest. The severity and nature of the injury are not clear, but Herbert's practice participation this upcoming week will be an indication of his chances of playing in the Colts' preseason finale against the Bengals on Saturday, Aug. 23. He's battling against DJ Giddens and Tyler Goodson for backup duties behind Jonathan Taylor in the backfield.

  • De'Von Achane RB | MIA

Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Dealing with soft-tissue injury

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Saturday that Achane is dealing with a "soft tissue lower body" injury, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.

McDaniel said Achane's injury isn't serious, but it's nonetheless concerning to see the undersized starting running back nursing a soft-tissue injury as Week 1 looms nearer. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, McDaniel said Achane will be reassessed at team facilities this week but is expected to be out "between days and weeks." Achane sat out Saturday's 24-17 preseason win over the Lions along with the rest of the starting offense, and his status now appears uncertain for the Dolphins' exhibition finale against Jacksonville on Saturday, Aug. 23. With Alexander Mattison (neck) done for the year, Jaylen Wright and rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon figure to benefit from increased first-team reps as long as Achane remains sidelined. Wright struggled on the ground versus Detroit, rushing four times for just three yards, while Gordon turned 10 carries into 50 rushing yards, with a long run of 19 yards.

  • Corey Kiner RB | ARI

49ers' Corey Kiner: Carted off field

Kiner was carted off the field during the second quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders due to a left leg injury, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Kiner suffered the injury at the tail end of a 19-yard carry early in the second quarter. He was carted off the field after being checked on by trainers, and an update on the severity of his injury should be announced once he undergoes further tests. Jeff Wilson and Ke'Shawn Vaughn should handle the bulk of the 49ers' backfield snaps the rest of the way due to Kiner and Patrick Taylor (shoulder) both leaving Saturday with injuries.

  • 49ers' Patrick Taylor: Exits game with shoulder injury

Taylor is questionable to return to Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders due to a shoulder injury, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Taylor may have picked up the injury during the 49ers' second offensive drive of the first quarter. He may be held out for the rest of the game given that it's the preseason, and if that were to be the case, he would finish with four carries for minus-six yards. Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Jeff Wilson should see a heavier workload out of the backfield if Taylor is done for the day.

  • Rico Dowdle RB | PIT

Panthers' Rico Dowdle: Three touches in preseason loss

Dowdle rushed twice for two yards and secured his only target for 15 yards in the Panthers' 20-3 preseason loss to the Texans on Saturday afternoon.

The offseason addition entered the game after Chuba Hubbard, with Dowdle logging his first touch on the first third down of the Panthers' third drive of the afternoon. Dowdle recorded his 15-yard catch on that play and then netted his two rushing yards over the next two snaps to wrap up his afternoon. A 1,000-yard rusher in 2024 with the Cowboys, Dowdle appears slotted for a solid but still complementary role alongside Hubbard going into the 2025 regular season.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Looks good on one carry

Taylor rushed once for nine yards and wasn't targeted in the Colts' 23-19 preseason loss to the Packers on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor hit his nice gain off left tackle midway through the second and final possession for the Colts' first-team offense after not seeing any touches on the opening drive. The talented back was unsurprisingly only briefly featured, and Saturday's carry may well represent the extent of his preseason work. Taylor will be sharing the backfield with either Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson come Week 1 while filling his usual high-volume, dual role.

  • Sione Vaki RB | DET

Lions' Sione Vaki: Logs 28 total yards vs. Miami

Vaki (leg) turned five carries for 30 yards while adding two catches (on four targets) for minus-two yards during the Lions' 24-17 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Saturday.

Vaki missed the Lions' first two exhibition games due to a leg injury. He was cleared to play in Saturday's contest and worked with the offense for the first half before sitting for the second. The 2024 fourth-rounder is battling Craig Reynolds and Jacob Saylors for the Lions' RB3 spot behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. Vaki will use the upcoming week in practice and the Lions' preseason finale against the Texans on Saturday, Aug. 23 to make his case for a spot on the team's 53-man roster.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Big gain on one catch in win

Lloyd rushed six times for 15 yards and secured one of four targets for 33 yards in the Packers' 23-19 preseason win over the Colts on Saturday afternoon.

Healthy after overcoming a non-contact groin injury that kept him out of the preseason opener against the Jets, Lloyd drew the start with Josh Jacobs resting and was heavily involved. The second-year back found tough sledding on the ground and was inefficient with his targets, but he did put together a nice splash play on his one catch, which came on Green Bay's third possession and moved the Packers into Colts territory. Lloyd's washout of a rookie season aside, the USC product is thought to have a good chance of eclipsing Emanuel Wilson as the No. 2 back at some point if he can remain healthy. Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, however, Lloyd did take a hit on his 33-yard reception, and coach Matt LaFleur merely answered, "We'll see," when asked about the second-year running back's health.
