Vikings running back Matt Asiata revealed Thursday that he's been exchanging texts with suspended Adrian Peterson and that the latter is optimistic about soon rejoining the team.
Peterson was indicted in Texas in September to a felony charge of child abuse and will miss his ninth straight game Sunday. He remains on the NFL exempt list and will have a hearing Monday with an arbitrator over an NFLPA grievance that seeks to have him reinstated.
"He can't wait to play," Asiata reported to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "He's staying on the grind and just waiting for the call to come back. ... He's so competitive."

Broncos running back Montee Ball is expected to return from injury against St. Louis in Week 11, according to the Denver Post.
Ball has been out since suffering a groin injury in Week 5. In his absence, running back Ronnie Hillman became a productive option for the Broncos.
With Hillman expected to miss at least two weeks with a midfoot sprain, Ball will compete with C.J. Anderson for carries.

Report: Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman has midfoot sprain
The Broncos will be without running back Ronnie Hillman for at least two weeks after he suffered a midfoot sprain during a Week 10 win at Oakland, according to the Denver Post.
Hillman was the featured running back for the Broncos since taking over starting duties from an injured Montee Ball in Week 5.
Hillman had just six carries for 13 yards before suffering the injury. C.J. Anderson replaced him and rushed for 90 yards on 13 carries, and added four receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown.

With left tackle Branden Albert heading to the injured reserve list, the Dolphins have elevated running back LaMichael James to the active roster, per his agent on Monday.
James was drafted by the 49ers in the second round of 2012 draft. He signed with the Dolphins after San Francisco parted ways with him after the opening week of the season. He has totaled 41 carries for 184 yards and no touchdowns in 15 games over his career.
