  • Jeremy McNichols: Signed to Colts' practice squad

McNichols inked a deal to join the Colts' practice squad Tuesday, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.

McNichols was originally signed to Indianapolis' practice squad on Sept. 3 before being waived 10 days later. The 22-year-old running back will look to provide depth to a young Colts' backfield if promoted to the active roster.

  • Rob Kelley RB | NO

Redskins' Rob Kelley: Lands on IR

Kelley (toe) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Kelley suffered a toe injury in Sunday's loss against the Colts and will be required to undergo surgery. Before exiting Week 2, Kelley logged only one offensive snap. With Kelley sidelined for at least the next eight games of the season, Samaje Perine could be in line to receive snaps behind Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson.

  • Saints' Jonathan Williams: Loses a yard

Williams lost a yard in his only carry of Sunday's 21-18 win over Cleveland.

Neither of the Saints' first two games -- a shootout followed by a late double-digit deficit -- has been conducive to running the football. Even by that low standard, though, two carries and a loss of a yard over two weeks is not promising -- especially compared to Alvin Kamara's 36 total touches and Mike Gillislee's 11. Things are unlikely to improve in two weeks when Mark Ingram (suspension) is able to return to the stable.

  • Chase Edmonds RB | WAS

Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: Picks up 20 yards

Edmonds snagged all five of his targets for 15 yards and added a five-yard run during Sunday's 34-0 loss to the Rams.

It hasn't been for much yardage, but there seems to be a concerted effort to get Edmonds touches in Arizona. The problem has been that the Cardinals have fallen behind early in back-to-back weeks and have looked vanilla on offense. Until the Cardinals are able to play more balanced and take some shots downfield, it's going to continue to be a tough ride for Edmonds. Considering the team has yet to find a way to unleash star David Johnson, brighter days are not guaranteed in the desert.

  • Rashaad Penny RB | CAR

Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Paces squad with 10 carries

Penny rushed 10 times for 30 yard and didn't make a catch on two targets during Monday's 24-17 loss to the Bears.

The Seahawks found themselves in an early deficit and neglected the run at times, instead allowing Russell Wilson to take full control. Still, it was surprising to see Penny lead the team in carries after coach Pete Carroll said Chris Carson, who had six rushes Monday, was the clear No. 1 running back. Until the offensive line shows significant improvement, neither running back is a reliable fantasy option outside of deeper leagues.

  • Corey Grant RB | JAC

Jaguars' Corey Grant: Active in passing game

Grant rushed four times for 13 yards and caught six of seven targets for 56 yards in Sunday's win over the Patriots.

Grant was much more involved compared to the season opener, though T.J. Yeldon still carried a slight edge in touches (14 to 12) and yardage (71 to 69). Leonard Fournette (hamstring) was inactive after not practicing through the week, although he was a game-time decision. Grant's increased workload is encouraging, but Yeldon should remains Jacksonville's No. 2 running back for the time being.

  • C.J. Anderson RB | LAR

Panthers' C.J. Anderson: Rips off long run

Anderson rushed three times for 31 yards in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Falcons.

Anderson's total was boosted by a 22-yard run, which marked Carolina's longest play on the ground. He was also targeted twice, but couldn't haul in either attempt. The veteran was on the field for just eight offensive snaps, again emphasizing his backup role to Christian McCaffrey, who finished with 22 touches while missing just four plays.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

    Packers' Aaron Jones: Suspension lifted

The NFL lifted Jones' suspension Monday, per the league's official transaction log.

Thus concludes Jones' two-game ban for a violation of the NFL's policy on substances of abuse. With Jamaal Wiliams serving as the primary option on the ground game during that time, the Packers ranked 25th in the category with 83.5 rushing yards per game. The team's modest 4.0 yards per carry is actually getting weighed down by Williams' dismal mark of 3.4. There's nowhere to go but up, and Jones can do just that after recording 5.5 YPC and two 100-yard efforts as a rookie last season.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Scores first career TD

Hines had four carries for seven yards, included an eight-yard touchdown, and lost two yards on his only reception and target in Sunday's win at Washington.

The Colts split playing time evenly with Marlon Mack returning from a hamstring injury. Mack had 18 snaps on offense with Hines and Jordan Wilkins each playing 24 snaps. Hines would seem like the least likely candidate to get a shorter rushing touchdown as he's seen more as the option in the passing game. However, Hines had just one target after nine targets Week 1. Hines should have a steady role in the offense, but it's possible his playing time decreases when Mack gets back to full speed.

  • Rob Kelley RB | NO

Redskins' Rob Kelley: Toe surgery imminent

Coach Jay Gruden said Kelley is expected to miss at least one month due to surgery on his toe, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Unlike Samaje Perine, Kelley has been active the first two games, but his usage has been minimal behind Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. As evidence, Kelley managed only one offensive snap during Sunday's loss to the Colts, which he left for a spell to have his toe examined. Although he returned to action, Gruden expects Kelley to go under the knife in the near future. If Kelley does, the Redskins are apt to activate Perine on game days for the foreseeable future.
