Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Headed for featured role
Henry is in line for a featured role Sunday against the Jaguars, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone Nashville reports.
While the Titans haven't yet ruled co-lead back DeMarco Murray (knee) out for Week 17, it doesn't seem especially likely that the veteran will be able to play through a torn MCL. With Murray facing the prospect of his first absence since joining the Titans, his backfield mate could get a chance to lead the way without significant competition. No. 3 running back David Fluellen has just four carries and zero targets this season, with most of his usage coming on special teams. Henry should be able to handle a three-down role, as he's at least appeared competent with his very limited opportunities in the passing game, hauling in 23 of 30 targets for 207 yards in 30 career appearances. Of course, he will have to contend with an impressive Jacksonville defense that has toughened up against the run in the second half of the season, though it's possible the Jaguars rest key players at some point before the end of the game.

Ezekiel Elliott RB | LAC
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Will play Week 17
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett confirmed that Elliott would play Sunday against the Eagles, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Elliott's return from a six-game suspension Week 16 against the Seahawks wasn't enough for the Cowboys to avoid a loss, which officially eliminated Dallas from playoff contention. Though the team has little at stake in Week 17, head coach Jason Garrett evidently wants the Cowboys to close the season on a high note, so the team's key contributors will suit up like usual. Despite his lengthy absence, Elliott didn't exhibit any noticeable rust against Seattle, producing 118 yards on 28 touches (four receptions). Expect the running back to enjoy another hefty workload Sunday.

Joe Mixon RB | HOU
Bengals' Joe Mixon: Not at practice
Mixon (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jim Owczarski of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
After missing the previous two games with a concussion, Mixon returned for Sunday's 26-17 win over the Lions, only to be forced out with an ankle injury midway through the first quarter. Giovani Bernard played more than 80 percent of the snaps on offense for a third straight week as a result, ultimately notching his first 100-yard rushing game since Week 2 of the 2015 season. Bernard likely would take on another huge workload -- albeit against a much tougher opponent -- if Mixon were to miss Sunday's season finale in Baltimore.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Not practicing despite optimism
Gordon (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said he considers the running back day-to-day, which meshes with Gordon's own optimism that he'll be able to play through the injury Sunday against the Raiders. He wore a walking boot in the aftermath of the Week 16 win over the Jets, but further testing nonetheless confirmed that he's merely dealing with a sprained left ankle. With the swelling already subsiding to a significant degree as of Wednesday, Gordon hopes to be available for a game that the Chargers need to win to have any hope of securing a wild-card berth. Branden Oliver likely would handle a heavy workload if Gordon were to miss the contest, as Austin Ekeler (hand) will presumably be limited to special teams for a second straight week. The early week optimism likely will taper off if Gordon doesn't manage to practice in some capacity Thursday and/or Friday.

Mike Gillislee RB | NE
Patriots' Mike Gillislee: Absent from practice Wednesday
Gillislee (undisclosed) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.
Per the report, Gillislee's knee was wrapped in ice following Sunday's win over the Bills, so it looks as though he could be managing that issue. Also absent from practice Wednesday was fellow running back Rex Burkhead (knee), who Gilleslee helped replace against Buffalo. Dressing for the first time in seven games, Gillislee finished that contest with six carries for 28 yards and a touchdown and gained 15 yards on his lone reception.

Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Trending toward sitting out finale
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said that Jones (knee) wouldn't practice Wednesday and is likely to sit out Sunday's game against the Lions, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
It was widely assumed that Jones would have a tough time making it back on the field for the season finale after suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee in the Week 16 loss to the Vikings. Jones dealt with a similar injury to his right knee earlier in his rookie campaign and missed two games, so the Packers appear poised to proceed with Jamaal Williams as their lead runner in Week 17. McCarthy also noted that Devante Mays, who hasn't logged any offensive snaps in the Packers' last five games, would likely reenter the backfield mix and potentially get some carries Sunday.

Cordarrelle Patterson RB | PIT
Raiders' Cordarrelle Patterson: One reception in loss to Philadelphia
Patterson caught one pass for seven yards on two targets in Monday's 19-10 loss to the Eagles.
Patterson, who had averaged nearly 34 offensive snaps per game in the Raiders' previous five contests, logged just 13 snaps in Week 16 with the rest of the team's receiving corps back to full strength. His opportunities could be limited once again in Week 17 during the regular-season finale against an impressive Chargers pass defense.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Optimistic about Week 17 availability
Gordon is dealing with minimal swelling around his sprained left ankle and is optimistic about his chances of playing Sunday against the Raiders, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Gordon was donning a walking boot after injuring the ankle in the Week 16 victory over the Jets, but it sounds like he received favorable reports from doctors when he was evaluated Tuesday. While it's still likely that Gordon's practice reps will be monitored carefully throughout the week, the running back could be ready to go by Sunday if his swelling continues to subside in the days to come. Even if that's the case, Gordon probably won't be 100 percent healthy for the regular-season finale, calling into question how effectively he'll be able to maneuver. The Chargers don't have many other attractive options on hand if Gordon isn't capable of playing a full-time role against the Raiders, as Branden Oliver is the only healthy alternative at running back with Austin Ekeler's broken ring finger expected to limit him to strictly special-teams duty for the second straight week.

Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC
Lions' Ameer Abdullah: Serving as No. 3 runner
Abdullah rushed six times for 21 yards while catching one of two targets for five yards during Sunday's 26-17 loss to the Bengals.
Abdullah saw just 11 snaps compared to 40 for Theo Riddick and 13 for Tion Green. He didn't make the most of his opportunities, either, and now owns 3.4 yards-per-carry average on the season. We expect him to remain the Lions' No. 3 runner in the season finale Sunday against the Packers.

Tion Green RB | DET
Lions' Tion Green: Finds paydirt in Cincy
Green rushed seven times for 43 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 26-17 loss to the Bengals.
The rookie returned to his former college town to log his second touchdown in the last four games. Green also continued to be the Lions' most efficient runner, as his current 4.4 YPC mark dwarfs those of Riddick and Abdullah, who each possess a season average of 3.4 yards per carry. However, Green vastly trailed Theo Riddick in snaps (13 to 40, respectively) Sunday and essentially split the backup job with the embattled Ameer Abdullah, who carried six times for 21 yards across 11 snaps. It seems unlikely the Lions turn away from this committee approach in Week 17 against the Packers.
