  • Patriots' Kenjon Barner: Re-signs with Pats

Barner agreed to re-sign with the Patriots on Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Barner was released by New England last week, but with Rex Burkhead nursing a neck injury he was scooped back up to boost depth at running back. He remains unlikely to make any noise out of the backfield, but he could revive his role as punt returner.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Limited in practice Tuesday

Cook (hamstring) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.

The Vikings listed Cook as a non-participant on their estimated practice report Monday, but the running back took a step forward during Tuesday's team session. While Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said earlier in the day that "there's a possibility" Cook will play Thursday against the Rams, Minnesota might not have a clear picture for the 23-year-old's Week 4 outlook until observing him during Wednesday's practice. For his part, Cook said he views himself as "day to day" and was non-committal about his availability for Thursday, per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Deemed 'possibility' for Week 4

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said that "there's a possibility" Cook (hamstring) will play Thursday against the Rams, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.

After sitting out the Week 3 loss to the Bills with a hamstring injury, Cook was listed as a non-participant Monday in the Vikings' estimated practice report. It's unclear what he was able to do during Tuesday's session, but the running back relayed that his hamstring "feels great at this point," Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The Vikings will face a quick turnaround this week with a Thursday night game on tap against a tough Rams defense, so Cook won't have much time to gear up for the contest if he intends to play. The Vikings should have a better feel for Cook's outlook after their final practice Wednesday, but if the second-year player isn't deemed ready to go for Week 4, Latavius Murray would likely earn another start in his stead.

  • Buccaneers' Jacquizz Rodgers: Modest receiving role in Week 3 loss

Rodgers lost a yard on two rushes and brought in two of three targets for 18 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-27 loss to the Steelers on Monday night.

It was a typical game with limited touches for Rodgers, who continues to suit up on gameday while 2018 second-round pick Ronald Jones II retains inactive status. The veteran back did see a solid 26 snaps from scrimmage due to the Buccaneers trailing in the contest throughout the second half, but he doesn't warrant fantasy consideration given his minor role in the big picture of Tampa's well-stocked offense.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Steelers' James Conner: Totals 95 yards from scrimmage in win

Conner ran for 61 yards on 15 carries and caught five of six targets for 34 yards in Monday's 30-27 win over the Buccaneers.

The second-year running back struggled get much of anything going early but finished with two big fourth-quarter runs of 27 and 17 yards to help extend drives and preserve the win. He won't find it any easier Week 4 against the Ravens, who are allowing just 84 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs this season.

  • Brandon Wilds RB | JAC

Jaguars' Brandon Wilds: Records one carry

Wilds had one rush for five yards in Sunday's loss to the Titans.

The carry came on Wilds' only snap of the afternoon. Leonard Fournette was again inactive due to his hamstring, leaving T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant to handle duties out of the backfield. Wilds won't see much involvement in the Jaguars offense barring further injury within the running back group.

  • Christine Michael: Let go by Colts

The Colts released Michael on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Michael somewhat surprisingly made the Colts' 53-man roster out of training camp, though he didn't have much of a role on offense once the season kicked off. He was active on Sunday versus the Eagles, but the veteran running back didn't see the field. The 27-year-old has 256 carries for 1,089 yards in his career and will look to join another team in need of backfield depth.

  • Detrez Newsome RB | LAC

    Detrez Newsome: Waived by Chargers

The Chargers waived Newsome on Monday, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.

Newsome was waived to make room for running back Justin Jackson, who Newsome beat out for the third-string job in camp due to a strong performance in the preseason. Newsome barely saw the field during his short tenure with the Chargers and carried the ball just once for no gain. He was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft and will now look for an opportunity elsewhere.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Doesn't practice Monday

Cook (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's injury report.

The Vikings exercised caution with their starting running back, holding him out Sunday with the schedule presenting two games in five days. According to Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Cook himself expects to suit up for Thursday's road game against the Rams. However, an appearance or two at practice this week would provide a semblance of confidence in his ability to do so.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Diagnosed with hyperextended knee

Coach Kyle Shanahan told Matt Barrows of The Athletic on Monday that Breida has a hyperextended knee.

Breida left Sunday's loss in Kansas City for a string of snaps due to a right knee injury, but he returned and proceeded to rack up 117 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches. Meanwhile, Alfred Morris was utilized solely on the ground, turning 14 carries into 67 yards and one touchdown. Shanahan called Breida questionable this week, making him a tossup to take the practice field Wednesday through Friday. In the event the 49ers take a cautious approach with Breida, Morris likely would be a bell cow for Sunday's road game against the Chargers considering Raheem Mostert is the only other running back on the 49ers' 53-man roster.
