  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Thrives in Week 12 defeat

Breida rushed 14 times for 106 yards and brought in three of four targets for 34 yards in the 49ers' 27-9 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Breida was projected to see a bump in touches with veteran Alfred Morris (coach's decision) inactive, but rookie Jeff Wilson Jr. ended up taking seven touches from him. However, Breida still doubled him up in carries while eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the second straight game and third time overall this season. Breida encouragingly also notched a trio of grabs for the second consecutive game, and a consistent pass-catching role down the stretch would naturally boost his fantasy outlook. Breida will look to eclipse the century mark for a third straight game against the Seahawks in Week 13.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Cleared to play Week 12

Gordon (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

A hamstring injury has been attached to Gordon for the better part of the past five weeks, forcing an absence Week 7. On this occasion, though, coach Anthony Lynn told Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com that Gordon's primary health concern is discomfort in his knee, which limited him in practice Thursday and Friday and made him a game-time decision. With his availability confirmed, Gordon should maintain a majority share of the work out of the Chargers backfield. The preceding has equated to 20.6 touches for 132.1 yards from scrimmage per game and 11 touchdowns in nine contests.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones II: Sitting again in Week 12

Jones (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's Week 12 tilt against the 49ers, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Jones is somewhat of a surprise inactive after practicing in full all week, but given his middling production when he's suited up, the Buccaneers don't seem to have much urgency to get him back into game action. Veteran Jacquizz Rodgers should once again serve as Peyton Barber's primary backup against the 49ers.

  • Matt Dayes RB | NO

49ers' Matt Dayes: Could serve as Week 12 backup

Dayes has a chance to serve as Matt Breida's backup at running back for Sunday's Week 12 tilt against the Buccaneers with veteran Alfred Morris (coach's decision) inactive.

The 2017 seventh-round pick has only logged one offensive snap this season, which came in Week 10 against the Giants. Dayes also saw limited action during his rookie campaign, carrying five times for 13 yards and bringing in four of five targets for another 29. The second-year back logged double-digit touchdowns in each of his last two college seasons at North Carolina State, and at a stout 5-foot-9, 205 pounds, he could potentially see some goal-line work.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Expected to fill starting role

Edwards is likely to serve as the Ravens' starting running back in Sunday's game against the Raiders with Alex Collins (foot) inactive for the contest, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Collins' surprising scratch opens the door for Edwards to build on his breakout performance in the Week 11 win over the Bengals, during which the undrafted rookie out of Rutgers rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on 17 touches. The installation of Lamar Jackson as the starting quarterback in place of the injured Joe Flacco (hip) likely factored into Edwards' spike in usage, as the two rookies had previously shared the field frequently when Jackson replaced Flacco in special packages in the weeks prior. With that in mind, it's likely that Edwards would have retained a premium role on offense regardless with Flacco sidelined for another contest, but Collins' absence offers further certainty regarding Edwards' potential workload. Javorius Allen and Ty Montgomery are both available to offer relief in the backfield, but both profile mainly as pass-catching options rather than direct threats to Edwards' usage on the ground.

  • Corey Clement RB | ARI

Eagles' Corey Clement: Set to lose work to Adams

Clement is expected to see his role within the Eagles' backfield committee decline beginning with Sunday's game against the Giants with the team planning to start Josh Adams and feature him more prominently moving forward, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Clement's arrow had already been pointing down even before Rapoport's nugget, as the second-year back earned just four touches (two carries, two receptions) -- his fewest in any of his eight appearances this season -- in the Week 11 loss to the Saints. Wendell Smallwood, who had also benefited from an increased workload since Jay Ajayi (knee) suffered a season-ending injury in early October, was also limited to just four offensive snaps in that contest, while Adams (seven carries for 53 yards, three receptions for 19 yards), an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame, continued to stand out as the most productive member in the committee. Adams should now get the opportunity to build on his impressive performance to date, resulting in Clement and Smallwood perhaps in line to see usage on par with what they received in Week 11 on a regular basis. If that ends up being the case, it would be tough to justify holding Clement even in most deeper leagues.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Intends to play Sunday

Gordon (knee/hamstring) is listed as questionable but plans to play Sunday against the Cardinals, despite some organizational interest in resting him for maintenance purposes, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

It sounds like Gordon, who was was a limited practice participant both Thursday and Friday, will suit up and avoid his second absence of the season. However, the Chargers' supposed interest in resting Gordon could cloud his potential to handle a normal workload, which may render him a less appealing option than usual in DFS contests. Gordon still represents a must-start option in just about every season-long format, but fantasy managers will still want to verify his status prior to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. EST kickoff. If the Chargers choose to act conservatively with Gordon's usage this weekend, Austin Ekeler would benefit from added work out of the backfield.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Signs with 49ers

Wilson signed a contract with the 49ers on Saturday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wilson signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in May but didn't survive roster cutdowns at the start of the season. The 23-year-old has since been on the team's practice squad and could make his NFL debut Sunday, though he seems unlikely to be involved much offensively.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones II: Deemed questionable for Week 12

Jones (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers despite logging full practices throughout the week, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

The practice regimen suggests Jones is healthy enough to play, but it isn't out of the question for the Bucs to essentially make him a healthy scratch. Of course, the team would be wise to give him a closer look at some point over the final six weeks of the season, considering lead back Peyton Barber is a known commodity (and an unspectacular one at that). Jones figures to get some touches if he returns for Sunday's game.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Candidate for increased workload

Melvin Gordon (hamstring/knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Cardinals, which could set up Ekeler for an increased role.

Ekeler earned a start Week 7 when Gordon sat out with a hamstring injury, compiling a season-high 17 touches in the process. However, Ekeler couldn't parlay the elevated reps into much production (68 yards from scrimmage) against a stout Titans defense. Because Gordon is trending toward a game-time decision for Sunday's 4:05 PM ET kickoff, Ekeler is the top candidate to fill in if the former is inactive or otherwise limited by his sore knee. The Chargers are taking on an Arizona defense that has allowed 170.5 scrimmage yards and 13 touchdowns to running backs in 10 games this season.
