  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Aggravates ankle in warmups

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Breida aggravated his ankle injury during pregame warmups for Sunday's 43-16 loss to the Seahawks, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

This is the obvious explanation for Jeff Wilson piling up 134 yards on 23 touches while Breida was limited to six yards on five carries and 51 yards on three receptions. The second-year pro had no problem playing through shoulder and knee injuries in September, but the ankle issue has continued to pop up throughout the season. Sitting at 2-10 ahead of a Week 14 game against Denver, the 49ers might want to consider allowing to Breida get some rest.

  • Rashaad Penny RB | CAR

    Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Efficient performance

Penny rushed seven times for 65 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the 49ers.

Penny logged two carries on the Seahawks' second drive, rumbling for 18 yards and setting up the team's first score. That efficiency allowed him to start in the backfield to begin the second half, where he took his first rush and hit the gas pedal, dashing 20 yards to find the end zone and extend the lead to 24 points. Penny is showing flashes of his ceiling with three of seven carries going for 15 or more yards. Chris Carson left the game with a finger injury and didn't return, and if he can't get healthy for Week 14's game versus the Vikings, Penny could have a hefty workload on tap.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Seemingly limited by ankle

Breida gained six yards on five carries and 51 yards on three catches in Sunday's 43-16 loss to Seattle.

Breida took a clear back seat to Jeff Wilson, who piled up 134 yards on 23 touches (eight catches) despite exiting the game at one point to be evaluated for a foot injury. Wilson re-entered the contest and continued dominating the backfield work, while Breida was in and out of the game all afternoon. It may be time for the 49ers to consider resting their top running back, even though he's often been effective while playing at less than 100 percent. San Francisco will host the Broncos in Week 14.

  • Royce Freeman RB | CHI

Broncos' Royce Freeman: Fumbles in win

Freeman rushed for 48 yards on 12 carries and lost a fumble during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Bengals.

Freeman was stood up late in the third quarter and stripped just before his forward motion was stopped. The Broncos went right back to him, seven of his carries coming in the fourth quarter as Denver tried to drain the clock. The result was Freeman's most touches since Week 7 and most yardage since Week 4. Freeman has certainly been passed over by fellow rookie Phillip Lindsay in the pecking order, but the Oregon product maintains value given Denver's recent reliance on the run and his goal-line abilities. He'll face a tough test next Sunday against a 49ers front giving up just 4.0 yards per carry this season.

  • Chase Edmonds RB | WAS

Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: Vultures two touchdowns in win

Edmonds rushed five times for 53 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in both of his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Packers.

Edwards only got five carries to David Johnson's 20, but the rookie scored both of Arizona's touchdowns, much to the chagrin of the embattled early pick's owners. In addition to his 6-yard score in the second quarter and 8-yard touchdown in the third, Edwards also peeled off a 29-yard run. Johnson is still Arizona's primary running back -- as evidenced by the workload distribution -- but Edmonds may have earned himself a few more carries in Week 14 against the Lions and beyond.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: Produces in tough matchup

Barkley rushed 24 times for 125 yards and brought in three of four targets for 21 yards in the Giants' 30-27 overtime win over the Bears on Sunday.

Barkley eclipsed the century mark on the ground for the third straight game, although he was less involved in the passing game than in some other recent contests. After scuffling for running room for multiple games this season, the Giants offensive line seems to be opening up lanes more consistently for the 2018 second overall pick. Barkley has averaged between 5.2 and 7.8 yards per rush in his last three games, which bodes well for his fantasy outlook as he heads into a Week 14 battle versus the Redskins.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Tallies 95 yards against Denver

Mixon rushed for 82 yards on 12 carries and added 13 yards on two catches during Sunday's 24-10 loss to Denver.

Mixon has now averaged at least 5.5 yards per carry in four of his last five games. The second-year back was pummeling the Broncos to start the game but saw his opportunities shrink after Denver's offense heated up in the third quarter. Mixon garnered just four carries in the second half, gaining an impressive 23 yards on them, as the Bengals were forced to throw from behind and the Broncos were able to key on the running game with A.J. Green (foot) out. The Broncos have had their issues against the run but had improved as of late. Next Sunday brings a middle-of-the-pack Chargers run defense, which has surrendered 4.4 yards per carry this season.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Returns to action Sunday

Wilson (foot) reentered Sunday's game at Seattle, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Although Wilson missed some time in the first half to have his foot examined, the undrafted rookie returned to action during the 49ers' first second-half possession. According to Jennifer Hale of Fox Sports, starting running back Matt Breida has been in and out of the game to have X-rays on his ankle, so the 49ers' hand may have been forced regarding Wilson.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

Packers' Aaron Jones: Finds paydirt despite low yardage

Jones rushed 11 times for 36 yards and a touchdown while catching all four of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cardinals.

Expectations were high for Jones coming in, as he entered with four rushing touchdowns in the previous three weeks and an average of 6.0 yards per carry this season. Surprisingly, a Cardinals defense that came in allowing 144.8 yards per game on the ground was able to hold Jones to a season-low 3.3 yards per carry. Still, Jones tied the game 17-17 on an 8-yard rushing score with 5:26 left, which should make owners feel good about turning right back to him against the Falcons in Week 14.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Suffers foot injury Sunday

Wilson is questionable to return to Sunday's contest in Seattle due to a foot injury, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

After a catch and run in the waning minutes of the first half, Wilson limped to the sideline and eventually needed assistance to get to the locker room, per Barrows. According to Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News, Wilson jogged back to the sideline but didn't reenter the game before halftime. If Wilson doesn't retake the field, Matt Dayes is the only other active reserve running back behind Matt Breida with Alfred Morris a healthy scratch.
