  • Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Reportedly won't play without new deal

Elliott's representatives have reportedly told the Cowboys that the running back doesn't plan to play this coming season without a new contract, Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.

On the plus side, "a source close to the situation" relayed to Anderson that at this stage, it doesn't seem likely the running back's holdout will linger into the regular season, with that conclusion "based on the belief that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants to get a new deal done" with Elliott prior to Week 1. Meanwhile, Jane Slater of NFL Network notes that the Cowboys are believed to have "generous" offers on the table for Elliott, QB Dak Prescott and wideout Amari Cooper, with terms that would put the trio in the top five in terms of compensation at their respective positions. For now, Elliott -- who has two years left on his rookie deal, continues to work out in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with no immediate resolution to his situation in sight.

  • Titans' Jeremy McNichols: Buried on depth chart

McNichols was listed as the team's fourth-string running back on the Titans' first unofficial depth chart, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

It was unsurprising to see McNichols listed behind both Derrick Henry (calf) and Dion Lewis. However, he also remained behind David Fluellen (ankle). That said, if he can keep his roster spot over intriguing rookie Alex Barnes, McNichols could be a factor catching passes out of the backfield if Dion Lewis were to develop any type of injury.

  • Karan Higdon RB | HOU

Texans' Karan Higdon: Enters backup gig competition

Higdon is in the competition for a backup role behind top back Lamar Miller in the wake of the Texans waiving D'Onta Foreman, Deepi Sidhu of the team's official site reports.

With Foreman out of the picture, Houston's depth chart is wide open behind top running back Lamar Miller. It's possible that the Texans will opt to acquire a No. 2 option via either free agency or trade, and as an undrafted rookie Higdon faces a steep path to meaningful snaps even if his competition remains limited to Buddy Howell, Josh Ferguson, Damarea Crockett and Taiwan Jones. Though he faces long odds, it's worth noting that Higdon boasts impressive speed (4.49 40-yard dash) and was extremely productive in college. Higdon was Michigan's leading rusher during his last two seasons (5.6 YPC) and notched eight games with over 100 rushing yards as a senior.

  • Miles Sanders RB | DAL

Eagles' Miles Sanders: Has leg up on starting gig

Sanders could be the Eagles' No. 1 back soon if he is not already, Matt Mullin of PhillyVoice reports.

Both Sanders and his primary competition, Jordan Howard, have issues in the passing game, but the rookie has been good enough in that regard while simply making the most plays. There is a growing media consensus that Sanders is the more talented of the pair, and while the Eagles will employ a committee, the Penn State product could head into the season handling the bulk of the work, especially on early downs.

  • Bills' Devin Singletary: Solid depth chart positioning

Singletary is listed as the third running back on the Bills' first unofficial depth chart.

The key takeaway here is that the rookie third-rounder from Florida Atlantic is already ahead of veteran T.J. Yeldon on the depth chart. As expected, Singletary is behind LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore, but those two are well on the wrong side of 30, and it's not even a certainty both will be with the team all season. The shifty Singletary is a good upside play toward the end of drafts.

  • Corey Clement RB | ARI

Eagles' Corey Clement: Involved in full-team sessions

Clement (knee) returned to 11-on-11 work Monday, Nick Fierro of The Morning Call reports.

Clement "didn't miss a beat" and flashed great burst and acceleration in his first team practice of training camp, according to FIerro. The Eagles probably will continue to ease the 24-year-old into full-contact situations, making it unlikely that he'll see much (if any) action in Thursday's preseason tilt with Tennessee, but all reports indicate Clement is progressing nicely as he recovers from knee surgery.

  • Keith Ford RB | IND

    Keith Ford: Headed to waivers

The Colts waived Ford on Monday.

Ford was let go by Indianapolis in order to make room for fellow running back D'Onta Foreman. The 25-year-old played two games with Buffalo last season and will now look to catch on in a depth capacity elsewhere in the league.

  • Derrick Henry RB | BAL

Titans' Derrick Henry: Still sitting out practice

Henry (calf) remained sidelined at practice Monday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Henry kicked off training camp by straining his calf, which was accompanied by a recovery timetable of about two weeks. The Titans' first preseason game takes place Thursday, so the running back seems poised to stay of the calf until the team reconvenes this weekend. No matter how long he remains off the practice field, there's little reason to worry about his availability for the regular season with Week 1 a little more than a month in the future.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Colts' D'Onta Foreman: Lands in Indianapolis

Foreman was claimed off waivers by the Colts on Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

It didn't take long for Foreman to find a new team after being waived by the Texans on Sunday. The 2017 third-round pick lands in Indianapolis following the placement of Spencer Ware on the reserve/PUP list and projects to compete for the backup role behind starter Marlon Mack. Foreman's first two seasons were significantly hampered by an Achilles injury, from which he now seems to have fully recovered. Houston cited issues with Foreman's work habits as the reason for waiving him, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, so it may be worth monitoring how the third-year pro acclimates to the Colts' running back room.

  • Boston Scott RB | PIT

Eagles' Boston Scott: Managing ankle injury

Scott is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.

Scott saw his chances at making the 53-man roster take a dive after the Eagles re-signed Darren Sproles in late July, and a significant absence during training camp would further weaken those odds. The 24-year-old appears to have avoided that situation, but he may still be questionable for Thursday's preseason opener against the Titans.
