Joshua Kelley RB | TEN
Chargers' Joshua Kelley: Slated for top depth role
Kelley is expected to serve as the top understudy to Austin Ekeler in Sunday's game against the Chiefs with Justin Jackson (quadriceps) listed as doubtful and not expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Kelley enjoyed a productive NFL debut in the Chargers' Week 1 win over the Bengals, playing only 24 percent of the offensive snaps and finishing with 12 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown. The Chargers may not have the luxury of operating a run-heavy game plan versus a heavily favored Chiefs team, so Kelley could struggle to replicate his Week 1 usage with Ekeler working as the clear top pass-catching back on the roster.

LeVante Bellamy RB | DEN
Broncos' LeVante Bellamy: Joins active roster
Bellamy was promoted to the active roster Saturday for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
The 23-year-old will move up from the practice squad as an extra player for Week 2. Bellamy will provide depth at running back with Phillip Lindsay (toe) sidelined, though he's unlikely to fill a significant role with Melvin Gordon and Royce Freeman handling the load.

Jeremy McNichols RB | WAS
Titans' Jeremy McNichols: Jumps to active roster
McNichols was promoted to the active roster Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Rookie third-rounder Darrynton Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out for a second straight game, so McNichols was brought back up. McNichols logged 13 snaps in the season opener but couldn't reel in his only target, and a similar role should be expected in Week 2 versus the Jaguars.

La'Mical Perine RB | PIT
Jets' La'Mical Perine: Listed as questionable
Perine (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers after logging limited practices Thursday and Friday.
With Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) on IR and set to miss at least three weeks, Frank Gore is poised to start at running back for the Jets in Week 2. Kalen Ballage is also in the mix, but once Perine can prove that he's past his ankle injury, and he's trending toward active status Sunday, that's a context in which he could potentially emerge as a fantasy sleeper.

Rashaad Penny RB | CAR
Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: 'Ahead of schedule' in recovery
Coach Pete Carroll called Penny "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a torn ACL, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Penny tore up his left knee Week 14 of last season, and his subsequent surgery revealed additional damage on top of the ACL tear. It wasn't a surprise by any means that he started this season on the reserve/PUP list, but Carroll seems to believe Penny will be able to practice not long after he's first eligible to do so in mid-to-late October. In the season opener, no Seahawks running back earned more than Chris Carson's 45 percent share of the snaps on offense, which was followed by Carlos Hyde (34) and Travis Homer (21). Conveniently, those numbers imply that Seattle used just one RB on any given play, so Penny could have a modest role, once he's healthy enough to play.

Justice Hill RB | BAL
Ravens' Justice Hill: Questionable despite full practice
Hill (thigh) practiced fully Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Texans.
Hill's ability to fully practice Friday means he's more likely to suit up than not. Even if he plays, Hill's likely to have a limited impact as the fourth running back on Baltimore's depth chart, though he should serve as the kick returner on special teams.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Set for large workload sans Lindsay
Gordon's teammate Phillip Lindsay (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
A road game in Pittsburgh is about as bad a matchup can be for a running back, but Gordon's workload could lead to a nice fantasy stat line even if he isn't particularly efficient in terms of yards per touch. Gordon and Lindsay split work throughout the first half of last week's loss to the Titans, with Gordon then dominating after halftime when Lindsay was out of the game. Royce Freeman finished the night with only two touches on six snaps, remaining an afterthought even after Lindsay's departure. It thus stands to reason that Gordon could see heavy, three-down usage this week.

James Conner RB | ARI
Steelers' James Conner: Good to go for Sunday
Conner (ankle) practiced in full Friday and doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Conner emerged from the Steelers' Week 1 win against the Giants with a mild ankle sprain, and while the issue sidelined him at Wednesday's session, he proceeded to be listed as a full participant both Thursday and Friday. He should serve as the team's top running back this weekend, but coach Mike Tomlin may be convinced to take some of the strain off Conner to preserve him for the long term. As a result, Benny Snell and Jaylen Samuels could be candidates for increased workloads Sunday.

C.J. Anderson RB | LAR
C.J. Anderson: Hanging up his cleats
Anderson is retiring from the NFL, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.
The 29-year-old Anderson wraps up a career in which he rushed for 3,497 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding 900 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver over 71 appearances after breaking into the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2013. Per Schefter, the next step on Anderson's path is a career in coaching in the college ranks.

Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Titans' Darrynton Evans: Debut postponed again
Evans (hamstring) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Evans will miss the second straight contest of his rookie campaign. The backup running back was a full participant in practice to begin the week, but he was limited Thursday and has now been ruled out for game-time action entirely, so he may have suffered an injury setback. Jeremy McNichols will continue to handle No. 2 duties behind Derrick Henry as long as Evans remains sidelined.
