  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Five carries, five catches in loss

Swift rushed five times for 12 yards and caught all five of his targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Packers.

Swift appears to be the receiving back of choice in Detroit's three-man backfield rotation, as Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson combined for 15 carries but only one target. Game script dictated plenty of second-half usage for Swift with the Lions trailing, and he came up just two receiving yards short of T.J. Hockenson's team-leading total. The Lions will be underdogs in Arizona in Week 3, so Swift projects to be Detroit's most fantasy-friendly running back option in that one.

  • Packers' Jamaal Williams: Plays second fiddle to Jones

Williams rushed eight times for 63 yards and added a two-point conversion but wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 42-21 win over Detroit.

Williams averaged a robust 7.9 yards per carry but got limited opportunities behind Aaron Jones, who piled up 236 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns. Williams' touches will remain limited as long as Jones stays healthy. Up next for the Packers is a Week 3 trip to New Orleans.

  • 49ers' Raheem Mostert: Diagnosed with sprained MCL

Mostert sustained a mild MCL sprain during Sunday's 31-13 road victory against the Jets, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Mostert departed the game in the second quarter, but not before accumulating 107 yards from scrimmage on 10 touches, the longest an 80-yard TD run to kick off the scoring. Backfield mate Tevin Coleman, who also hurt his knee Sunday, eked out 12 yards on 14 carries, which he supplemented with two receptions (on two targets) for 28 yards. Because of those injuries, Jerick McKinnon (three rushes for 77 yards and a score) and Jeff Wilson (two runs for three yards) round out the 49ers' healthy running backs.

  • Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Eclipses 100 yards, scores TD

Elliott ran for 89 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries while securing six of seven targets for 33 yards during Sunday's 40-39 win against the Falcons. He also committed two first-quarter fumbles, losing one to Atlanta.

Elliott has been an elite rusher since the day he entered the NFL, as exhibited by the 1,631 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns he collected during his All-Pro rookie season of 2016. The back's receiving skills had been a work in progress when he entered the league, but Elliott has now averaged 4.2 catches per game dating back to the start of 2018 (compared to 2.3 receptions per game between 2016 and 2017). Fresh off a comeback win, Elliott and the Cowboys' rushing attack now prepare for a Week 3 matchup against a Seahawks defense that contained Atlanta to 72 team rushing yards in its season debut.

  • Boston Scott RB | PIT

Eagles' Boston Scott: Seven touches in loss

Scott rushed four times for 19 yards and caught all three of his targets for 24 yards in the Eagles' 37-19 loss to the Rams on Sunday.

As anticipated, Scott took a back seat to Miles Sanders, who returned to a usual workload in his season debut. Sanders saw 23 touches to Scott's seven, going over 100 yards with a touchdown. Barring another setback for Sanders, Scott will be left to pick up scraps in this offense, making fantasy-relevant production difficult to attain.

  • Bears' David Montgomery: Leads team in rushing and receiving

Montgomery rushed 16 times for 82 yards while catching all three of his targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in Chicago's 17-13 victory over the Giants on Sunday.

For the first time in his career, Montgomery exceeded five yards per rushing attempt, as he was frequently able to get into space and make defenders miss. In addition, he out-targeted backfield mate Tarik Cohen for the second week in a row, and it would appear that he's a player the coaching staff is preparing to lean on throughout the season. However, it should be noted that he's been productive against a pair of weak run defenses, though his current role in the offense provides optimism that he can be trusted as a top-24 running back option each week.

  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Scores first career TD

Robinson rushed 16 times for 102 yards and one touchdown and caught three of four targets for 18 yards during Sunday's 33-30 loss to the Titans.

The 22-year-old had a similar workload to the season opener but found more success on the ground, notching the first 100-yard game and touchdown of his career. Robinson again dominated the touches out of the backfield as Chris Thompson was the only other running back to touch the ball (two carries and three receptions), though the veteran did catch a touchdown pass. Next week's opponent, the Dolphins, have surrendered 328 rushing yards through their first two games of the season, so Robinson should be able to find running room in Week 3.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Registers TD in loss to Colts

Cook collected 63 yards and a rushing touchdown on 14 carries, while also corralling both of his targets for eight receiving yards during Sunday's 28-11 loss to Indianapolis.

Cook had averaged 17.5 carries per game over his past 15 regular-season outings entering Week 2, but the Vikings were less able to lean on the team's Pro Bowl back down the stretch, having fallen into a 15-point deficit by the 9:27 mark of the third quarter. The Colts' lead would only balloon from there, leaving Cook with a workload of 16 or fewer offensive touches for the third consecutive game. Despite just 119 scrimmage yards to his name thus far this season, Cook's fantasy value has been largely salvaged by his three touchdowns -- each of which has come via a goal-line rush attempt. The star back may get it going in the yardage department in Week 3, when the Vikings take on a Titans defense that surrendered 165 team rush yards to Jacksonville on Sunday.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: ACL tear feared

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that "based on the manual tests and initial diagnosis," it appears as though Barkley suffered an ACL tear Sunday against the Bears.

That echoes a report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, which previously noted that the Giants fear that their star running back tore his ACL. The team will thus have to brace for the possibility of the running back being lost for the season, but such an outcome won't be determined, one way or the other, until after Barkley undergoes further tests Monday. Next up for the Giants' carries are Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman (who was inactive Sunday), but we suspect that if a long-term injury is confirmed here, the team will look to add backfield help in short order.

  • Miles Sanders RB | DAL

Eagles' Miles Sanders: Shines in season debut

Sanders rushed 20 times for 95 yards and a touchdown, adding three receptions for 36 yards in the Eagles' 37-19 loss to the Rams on Sunday.

After missing Week 1, Sanders picked up where he left off last season and had a big game in his 2020 debut. The sophomore didn't seem limited by the hamstring injury that kept him out last week, as he piled up 131 yards while handling a hefty workload. Off to a solid start, Sanders will look to improve on the 1,327 scrimmage yards and six total touchdowns he produced as a rookie.
