McCaffrey (shoulder) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.

While McCaffrey isn't expected to suit up for Sunday's game at Minnesota, he handled more reps Thursday than he did Wednesday, coach Matt Rhule told Getzenberg. Per Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site, McCaffrey remained in a red non-contact jersey again Thursday, so he may have to shed said jersey before the team clears him for game action. Assuming he doesn't play Sunday, McCaffrey will have a Week 13 bye to improve the health of the AC joint in his right shoulder. Mike Davis will continue to lead Carolina's backfield as long as McCaffrey is sidelined.

Swift (concussion) is listed as inactive Thursday against the Texans.

Swift made some progress through the concussion protocol this week, wrapping it up with back-to-back limited sessions. Still, it wasn't enough to gain clearance to play. Swift will miss his second game in a row as a result, leaving Kerryon Johnson and Adrian Peterson to carry the load out of the Lions backfield. Swift's next chance to suit up arrives Sunday, Dec. 6 at Chicago.

Confirmation of Swift's status will arrive when the Lions' inactives are released prior to the team's 12:30 ET kickoff. If Swift is unavailable, Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson would be in line to lead Detroit's backfield Thursday.

Phillips was signed to Houston's active roster from the practice squad Wednesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Phillips was elevated as an extra player from the practice squad for Sunday's win over the Patriots, and he exclusively played special teams. The 23-year-old should play a similar role now that he's receiving a longer look on the active roster.

McKinnon (neck) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

McKinnon sustained a stinger in the 49ers' last game Week 10 at New Orleans, but with the benefit of a bye week, he managed to practice Wednesday without any restrictions. Meanwhile, Tevin Coleman (knee) was a limited participant, and San Francisco opened 21-day practice windows for Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) on Tuesday. Coach Kyle Shanahan termed each of the trio "day-to-day" Wednesday, so this backfield situation will be one to watch as this weekend's game against the Rams approaches.

The 49ers designated Mostert for a return from injured reserve Tuesday, and Shanahan's comments would seem to hint that the running back has a shot at returning to the lineup as early as Sunday's game against the Rams. Tevin Coleman (knee) also resumed practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday, so San Francisco's backfield appears set to receive some reinforcement in the near future.

Washington (back) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice.

Washington was sidelined the past two games by the back injury, but it appears he's healthy heading into Week 12. The 26-year-old is unlikely to have much of an offensive role as long as Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray continue to be available.

Patterson logged a limited practice session Wednesday due to a calf injury.

The origin of the calf issue is unclear, but the fact Patterson was able to practice -- albeit in limited fashion -- bodes well for his availability Sunday against the Packers. However, with David Montgomery (concussion) expected to return to action, Patterson's temporary role as the team's starting running back has likely come to an end.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that Wilson (ankle) is considered day-to-day, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.

Wilson suffered a sprained ankle in Week 7 against the Patriots and sat out three games as a result. The 25-year-old running back was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday, opening a 21-day window for him to rejoin the roster. Depending on how his ankle responds to a week of practice, Wilson could play in this Sunday's game against the Rams. His role depends on the health of the other backs, as Tevin Coleman (knee), Jerick McKinnon (neck) and Raheem Mostert (knee) are all banged up to varying degrees.

Kamara (foot) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

For the third time in four weeks, the Saints are capping Kamara's practice reps in some form. Over the past three games, he tallied 42 touches for 192 yards and five touchdowns, bringing him to 12 scores in 10 contests this season. Kamara will aim to bump up to full participation by the end of the week.
