  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Earns 17 carries

Taylor rushed the ball 17 times for 68 yards in Week 4 against Chicago. He added one reception for 11 yards.

Taylor was once again the lead back for the Colts, working ahead of both Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins. While his longest rush of the game was 16 yards, he managed additional chunk gains of 11 and 12 yards. He was unable to put together a huge performance due to the Colts' inability to reach the end zone but has now racked up at least 14 touches in each game since Week 2 in Marlon Mack's (Achilles) absence. He'll face a tough defensive front in Week 5 in a matchup against the Browns.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Held in check by Bills

Jacobs carried the ball 15 times for 48 yards and caught three of four targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Bills.

Buffalo's front seven didn't give Jacobs much room to roam, and his 3.2 yards per carry was his worst single-game average so far this season. The second-year back should be more productive in Week 5 against a Chiefs defense that's given up 5.3 YPC through its first three games.

  • Bears' Cordarrelle Patterson: Quiet performance

Patterson rushed three times for five yards in Chicago's 19-11 loss to the Colts on Sunday.

Even with Tarik Cohen (knee) placed on injured reserve, Patterson's role in the offense didn't change, as he had three carries and two targets. He's averaging 20 yards per game as a runner and receiver, and aside from leagues that award points for return yardage, he has very minimal fantasy value.

  • Bears' David Montgomery: Receives 13 touches

Montgomery rushed 10 times for 27 yards and caught three passes for 30 yards in the Bears' 19-11 loss to the Colts on Sunday.

Facing a swarming Indianapolis run defense, Montgomery rarely had any room to operate on the ground, and he failed to gain more than six yards on any of his rushing attempts. With the Bears trailing throughout, they were unable to run a balanced offense, keeping Montgomery from seeing a bigger workload. With at least 57 combined yards in each game this season, he'll continue to be a top-24 running back with a solid weekly floor.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Scores TD after Cook injury scare

Mattison registered 17 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries during Sunday's 31-23 win against the Texans.

Dalvin Cook momentarily exited the game with an apparent injury at the 11:27 mark of the fourth quarter, and Mattison stepped into a red-zone opportunity and delivered a four-yard TD run to provide Minnesota with a two-possession lead. Cook was able to quickly return to the contest, limiting Mattison to three more carries and six rushing yards the rest of the way. Mattison will remain the Vikings' clear No. 2 option at running back as the team transitions into a Week 5 matchup against Seattle's top-five rush defense.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

Chargers' Austin Ekeler: In line for multi-game absence

Ekeler is slated to miss multiple weeks due to the hamstring injury and hyperextended knee that he suffered during Sunday's 38-31 defeat at Tampa Bay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

In the wake of a first-quarter hit, Ekeler was in significant pain and couldn't put any weight on his left leg in his attempts to get off the field. He required a cart to get to the locker room and didn't make another appearance, and after the game he needed crutches and was wearing a brace on the leg. Looking ahead, the Chargers play five more games before a Week 10 bye, so there isn't a respite for Ekeler in the immediate future. In the meantime, the team will need to make due with Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson out of the backfield.

  • Football Team's Antonio Gibson: Powers Washington offense

Gibson carried the ball 13 times for 46 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against Baltimore. He added four receptions on five targets for 82 yards.

After Gibson showed glimpses of promise in Week 3, he provided a breakout performance one week later against the Ravens. He commanded 13 of the team's 22 rushing attempts, including a goal-line carry that he converted for a two-yard score. Gibson also showed explosiveness in the passing game, taking a screen pass for 40 yards halfway through the second quarter. He appears to have taken over as the clear lead back in Washington's backfield heading into a Week 5 matchup against the Rams.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Cardinals' Kenyan Drake: Suffers injury Sunday

Drake (chest) had 13 carries for 35 yards and wasn't targeted during Sunday's 31-21 loss at Carolina. He left the game in the fourth quarter and didn't return.

Drake didn't make much headway against the Panthers defense, running for three yards or fewer on nine of his rushes. On his final carry (a seven-yarder) with 4:05 remaining, he took a hard hit to the chest, stayed on the ground for a few minutes and eventually jogged to the sidelines, per Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. During a post-game media session, coach Kliff Kingsbury told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com that he doesn't "believe it was anything major," but Drake's status now is in some question as the Cardinals move on to preparation for a Week 5 visit to the Jets. If Drake is at all hindered, Chase Edmonds could be in line for more work after turning nine touches into 40 yards and one TD on Sunday.

  • Myles Gaskin RB | SEA

Dolphins' Myles Gaskin: Garners 62 total yards in defeat

Gaskin rushed 10 times for 40 yards and brought in three of four targets for 22 yards in the Dolphins' 31-23 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.

Gaskin once again served as the unquestioned lead back after logging a career-high 22 carries in Week 3 win against the Jaguars, but game script helped cap his overall workload. However, all signs point to the second-year back being the odds-on favorite for pacing the backfield in carries for the time being, and he's the only one of the trio of himself, Matt Breida and Jordan Howard to post double-digit rushes in a game this season. Gaskin will look to see more opportunities on the ground in a Week 5 road matchup against the 49ers.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Dealing with hamstring injury

When asked about the hamstring injury Ekeler suffered in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers, coach Anthony Lynn replied "I'm not sure how bad it is, but it looked pretty bad," Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.

It's too soon to know how much, if any, further game action Ekeler might miss, but his status for next Monday's contest against the Saints will obviously need to be monitored closely, based on Lynn's post-game comments. Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson are next up for the Chargers' carries if Ekeler is limited or out in Week 5.
