  • Steelers' Anthony McFarland: Overcomes illness

McFarland (illness) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.

McFarland came down with a non-COVID-19-related illness prior to last week's win over Cincinnati and ended up sitting out, but he has evidently recovered from the ailment. The rookie will be in the mix for change-of-pace work behind top back James Conner in Sunday's game in Jacksonville.

  • Titans' Darrynton Evans: Practicing Wednesday

Evans (hamstring) is participating in Wednesday's practice, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

The Titans designated Evans for return from injured reserve Monday, giving him a 21-day window to be evaluated at practice. He can be officially moved to the active roster at any point in that span. Both Jeremy McNichols and D'Onta Foreman have been solid as depth options behind Derrick Henry in recent weeks, so Evans could face competition for touches once he's back on the field.

  • Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Still dealing with tight hamstring

Elliott said his tight hamstring feels better after a bye week, but he acknowledged Wednesday that he's still managing some soreness, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. "It's a little stiff," Elliott said of the hamstring. "It's something that I'm working on every day."

Elliott was listed as questionable ahead of the Cowboys' Week 9 loss to Pittsburgh, ultimately suiting up and taking 20 touches for 69 yards while playing 65 percent of the offensive snaps. That's obviously a sizable workload, but it was also the first time all season where Elliott played less than three-quarters of the snaps in a game that wasn't a blowout. While he may not be 100 percent healthy, Elliott seemingly expects to play in Sunday's game at Minnesota.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Coach promises more touches

Coach Adam Gase said Wednesday he plans to give Perine more touches over the team's final seven games, though Frank Gore will continue to play a prominent role as well, Al Iannazone of Newsday reports.

This isn't the first time Gase has promised a larger role for Perine, though in fairness, the rookie has averaged 10 touches per game in the last four after touching the ball just 17 times over his first four appearances. Still, those hoping for the winless Jets to invest fully in the future shouldn't get their hopes up, as Gase said Gore -- who is averaging 3.6 yards per carry without a touchdown this season -- is "probably playing at one of the higher levels of anybody we have right now."

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Not practicing Wednesday

Mixon (foot) isn't participating in Wednesday's practice, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Prior to the session, coach Zac Taylor labeled Mixon as "day-to-day" and said he'll be monitored in practice throughout week, according to John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer. The 24-year-old isn't off to a great start in his effort to return from the lineup Sunday against Washington, as he still has yet to resume practicing in any capacity since suffering the right foot injury Week 6. Unless Mixon able to take a tangible step forward Thursday and/or Friday, Giovani Bernard looks poised for another turn as Cincinnati's lead back.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

    Dolphins' Matt Breida: Practicing Wednesday

Breida (hamstring) is participating in Wednesday's practice, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

Breida, who managed to practice in a limited capacity last week, has missed back-to-back games due to his hamstring injury. If he's able to get healthy in time for Sunday's game in Denver, Breida could see his first chance of the season to handle significant work out of the backfield. Myles Gaskin (knee) will need to remain on injured reserve for at least one more week, and the Dolphins recently released a potential challenger for reps in Jordan Howard.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Headed for another absence

McCaffrey (shoulder) isn't on track to play Sunday against the Lions.

Carolina was initially hopeful that the AC joint injury McCaffrey suffered to his shoulder Nov. 8 would only keep him out for one game, but he's heading toward a second straight absence after failing to make much notable progress over the past week. With McCaffrey slated to be sidelined, Mike Davis is in line for another start at running back for the Panthers in Week 11. McCaffrey will now target a possible return to game action Nov. 29 versus the Vikings.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Missing practice to begin week

McCaffrey (shoulder) won't participate in Wednesday's practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Though Panthers head coach Matt Rhule expressed optimism Monday that McCaffrey might be able to return from a one-game absence to play Sunday against Detroit, the fact that the running back won't be practicing to begin Week 11 prep isn't a promising early sign for his chances of returning to action. Mike Davis stepped into the lead role out of the backfield in McCaffrey's stead in the Week 10 loss to the Buccaneers and would be in line for another start versus Detroit if the All-Pro back can't go.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Seahawks' Travis Homer: Maintains limited participation

Homer (wrist/knee/thumb) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.

The wrist injury was a new addition to Tuesday's injury report, but the 22-year-old running back was a limited participant for the second straight day anyway. If he's able to play through his various knocks, Homer's offensive role will diminish profoundly because Carlos Hyde (hamstring) is set to return Thursday against the Cardinals, while Chris Carson (foot) is making good progress toward a return of his own.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Over 70 yards from scrimmage

Edwards had seven carries for 42 yards and added one catch for 31 yards on two targets against the Patriots.

Mark Ingram was back, which impacted the snap distribution in the Baltimore backfield. Still, Edwards was effective when on the field. His snap share fell below 25 percent but Edwards is still seeing carries on a high percentage of his snaps. Put another way, Edwards has a 44.3 percentage of snaps with a touch, which is 63rd percentile among running backs. It's also worth noting that Edwards has gotten some work in the passing game the last three weeks; Edwards had three targets in six games before the bye and now has three catches for 42 yards in three games since the bye. It's not a significant target volume, but given Edwards' previous absence from the passing game, this is a development worth monitoring in the coming weeks. Baltimore hosts Tennessee on Sunday.
