  • Desmond Reid RB | BUF

    Desmond Reid: Waived by Buffalo

Reid (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Bills on Thursday.

If the running back goes unclaimed by other teams, he will revert to Buffalo's injured-reserve list, at which point he'd have to reach an injury settlement with the team to have a chance to play in 2026. Reid signed with the Bills as an undrafted free agent in May. In seven games with Pitt in 2025, he recorded 60 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns as well as 23 catches for 317 yards and two scores.

  • Saints' Kendre Miller: Limited at minicamp practice

Miller (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.Net reports.

The running back was not practicing during OTAs as recently as late May after tearing his ACL in Week 7 of the 2025 campaign. Now, though, he appears to be back, at least on a limited basis. At the moment, the 2023 third-round pick faces a crowded backfield situation in New Orleans, with free-agent signing Travis Etienne, veteran Alvin Kamara and 2025 sixth-round pick Devin Neal.

  • Jerome Ford RB | WAS

Commanders' Jerome Ford: Participating in spring practices

Ford (shoulder) has been practicing, Zach Selby of commanders.com reports.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, on the other hand, has been absent from recent practices with a soft-tissue injury. It sounds like Rachaad White has been getting a lot of the first-team snaps, but Ford is also getting some work alongside QB Jayden Daniels. While not necessarily a standout in either role, Ford theoretically could fill in for either Croskey-Merritt on early downs or White on passing downs. However, Ford got only $437,500 guaranteed on his one-year, $1.4 million contract, leaving him at risk of missing out on the Week 1 roster if things don't go well this summer. The Commanders also have sixth-round pick Kaytron Allen and 30-year-old Jeremy McNichols competing for roster spots. There's been no hint of trouble with the shoulder injury that ended Ford's 2025 campaign in Cleveland.

  • Commanders' Jacory Croskey-Merritt: Dealing with soft-tissue injury

Croskey-Merritt has been absent from spring practices due to a soft-tissue injury, NFL reporter Ben Standig reports.

Commanders RBs coach Anthony Lynn didn't sound too concerned, noting that mental preparation is more important than on-field work during the offseason program. Free-agent signing Rachaad White presumably has taken a lot of the first-team snaps, with Jerome Ford, Jeremy McNichols and sixth-round pick Kaytron Allen also competing for playing time. Croskey-Merritt played all 17 games during his rookie season, getting 175 carries (4.6 YPC, eight TDs) but just 13 targets. Head coach Dan Quinn suggested the Commanders have high expectations for Croskey-Merritt in 2026, pointing to the passing game and kick returns as potential areas for improvement, per Zach Selby of Commanders.com.

  • Bucky Irving RB | TB

Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Spotted at OTA practice

Irving (shoulder) was on the field for Thursday's OTA.

A clip posted by the Buccaneers showed the running back getting in some on-field work Thursday, which included catching passes. It remains to be seen when Irving will be cleared for full contact as he bounces back from offseason shoulder surgery, but his participation in Thursday's session, in any capacity, supports a previous report by ESPN's Adam Schefter that the 2024 fourth-rounder was likely to be ready at some point during training camp. Next up for Irving and his teammates following their current OTAs will be mandatory minicamp from June 16-18.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Progressing well in recovery

Coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that Charbonnet continues to do a "great job" in his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered during the divisional-round of last season's playoffs, Cameron Van Til of Seattle Sports reports.

Per the report, Charbonnet, who underwent surgery to repair his left knee Feb. 20, did some conditioning work during Tuesday's minicamp practice. Given the timing of his procedure, the expectation has been that Charbonnet will miss time out of the gate this coming season, and in that scenario 2026 first-round pick Jadarian Price, as well as George Holani and Emanuel Wilson, would be in line to handle Seattle's backfield duties come Week 1. However, when asked if there's a chance Charbonnet could be ready by the start of the season, Macdonald said Wednesday, "Everything's possible." Either way, Charbonnet's progress will be worth monitoring closely as the summer rolls along, and once he's ready to return to game action, the 2023 second-rounder will have an opportunity to claim a key role in a Seahawks RB corps that no longer includes Kenneth Walker, who led the team with 221 carries in 2025.

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Looks explosive at OTAs

Browns head coach Todd Monken said Wednesday that Judkins (ankle) has looked confident and explosive at OTAs, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Judkins has been a full participant in spring practices by all accounts, despite suffering a dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula in Week 16 last season. Year-after results have often been poor for players with similar injuries, but most of them (including Tampa Bay's Chris Godwin) suffered damage lower down their leg/ankle. Judkins' injury was higher up on the ankle, which seemingly helped him avoid significant ligament damage and set up a rehab process that's not as tricky as Godwin's (or Cam Skattebo's). Monken is pleased with Judkins' progress this offseason, but the Browns' new head coach did qualify his statements to a degree, telling reporters, "we'll just see when [Judkins] gets the pads on."

  • Jordan Mims RB | SF

Jordan Mims: Done in San Francisco

Mims was waived by the 49ers on Wednesday.

Despite signing Mims in late May, San Francisco has already decided to move on from the running back. The Fresno State product has spent time with the Saints and Titans across his three seasons in the NFL, logging 161 total snaps (101 on offense, 60 on special teams) across 14 contests. In a corresponding move, the 49ers signed running back Sincere McCormick to a one-year deal Wednesday.

  • Braelon Allen RB | NYJ

Jets' Braelon Allen: Pushing 250 pounds

Allen is up to 250 pounds for OTAs after playing at 238-240 last year, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

In terms of physical measurements, Allen is perhaps the closest thing to Derrick Henry among NFL running backs, now pushing 250 pounds on a 6-foot-1 frame. The concern is that Allen was already a far cry from Henry in terms of speed and agility when playing at his (relatively) lighter weight of 238-240 pounds. The 22-year-old looks like a DE or OLB at first glance, and he told reporters Wednesday that his body-fat percentage is at an all-time low. Allen also said he's back at full strength after undergoing season-ending surgery on an MCL injury last fall. He's the youngest player from the 2024 draft class -- younger than most incoming rookies, in fact -- and is again positioned to compete with fellow 2024 draft pick Isaiah Davis for backup work behind long-time starter Breece Hall. It's also possible Allen and Davis have distinct roles, with the former more focused on power rushing and the latter more geared toward passing downs.

  • Emanuel Wilson RB | SEA

Seahawks' Emanuel Wilson: Mostly working with third-stringers

Wilson has been getting most of his reps with the third-string offense at OTAs, according to Gregg Bell of The News Tribune.

Wilson did a solid job filling in for an injured Josh Jacobs in Green Bay last season, so it's no surprise there was fantasy interest after Wilson signed with the RB-needy Seahawks in March on a reported one-year, $2.1 million contract. His fantasy stock has since taken a hit, in large part because the Seahawks drafted RB Jadarian Price at No. 32 overall in April. It also doesn't help that Wilson's contract is closer to $1.6 million in base value, not $2.1 million, and with only $300,000 guaranteed at signing. He may still be part of the plan to help replace Kenneth Walker (Chiefs) and Zach Charbonnet (torn ACL), but early reports out of Seattle have George Holani getting most of the first-team reps while Price mixes in some. Wilson seems to be exclusively working with the backups, at least during the media-access portions of practice.
