  • Ravens' Ty'Son Williams: Inactive for Sunday's game

Williams is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

With Williams sitting this one out, the Ravens have decided to go with the veteran backfield trio of Latavius Murray (the expected Week 4 starter), Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman versus Denver.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Active as expected

Gordon (ribs/lower leg) is active against the Ravens on Sunday.

Gordon was trending in the direction of active status as the practice week concluded, and his availability for the showdown with Baltimore now is official. The veteran running back is expected to continue in a relatively balanced timeshare arrangement with impressive rookie Javonte Williams, with Gordon outpacing his teammate by only six carries Week 3 against the Jets and Williams thus far logging double-digit carries in each contest.

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Missing second consecutive game

Mitchell (shoulder) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Seahawks, Keiana Martin of the 49ers' official site reports.

Mitchell's Week 2 shoulder injury was considered "worse than a stinger" by coach Kyle Shanahan at the time. Shanahan noted during Week 4 prep that Mitchell's availability would come down to pain tolerance, and the rookie sixth-round pick won't be able to give it a go just yet. While Mitchell misses a second consecutive game Sunday, Trey Sermon and fullback Kyle Juszczyk likely will handle the bulk of the backfield reps yet again. Beyond that duo, Trenton Cannon and Jacques Patrick are on hand for special-teams work and the occasional rep on offense, if needed.

  • Tony Jones RB | ARI

Saints' Tony Jones: Carted off with ankle injury

Jones is questionable to return to Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Giants with an ankle injury.

Jones was carted off the field in the second quarter, though the nature of his injury was not apparent at the time. Dwayne Washington has served as the team's second back in the absence of Jones, though he's seen very limited work behind Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill.

  • Ravens' Ty'Son Williams: Not expected to start

Williams could be headed for a smaller role Sunday against the Ravens with Mike Garofolo of NFL Network reporting that Latavius Murray is expected to serve as Baltimore's lead back.

Williams has been listed as a starter in each of the Ravens' previous three games, but the designation hasn't meant much from a fantasy perspective, as Baltimore has ran a full-fledged backfield committee in each of those contests. Though the second-year player out of South Carolina is averaging an excellent 6.1 yards per carry on 27 totes, he drew poor reviews from offensive coordinator Greg Roman coming out of last week's win over Detroit and looks on track to see a smaller role Sunday after handling snap shares between 47 and 51 percent in each of Baltimore's first three contests. Murray projects to see the largest workload of a backfield that also includes Williams, Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman, but expect Baltimore to once again take a committee approach to the position, making it difficult to trust any of the four players in Week 4 fantasy lineups.

  • Ravens' Latavius Murray: Likely to operate as lead back

Murray is expected to serve as the Ravens' lead running back for the Ravens in Sunday's game in Denver, Mike Garofolo of NFL Network reports.

Ty'Son Williams had operated as the No. 1 option out of the Baltimore backfield for the first three games, but he played no more than 51 percent of the offensive snaps in any of those contests while head coach John Harbaugh has opted for a committee approach to the position. Based on Garofolo's report, Williams looks like he'll be headed for a smaller share of the work Sunday, while Murray could see a more expanded profile after handling snap shares between 31 and 37 percent through the first three weeks while totaling 26 touches (8.6 per contest). Even if Murray gets an uptick in opportunities, he's still unlikely to truly dominate the backfield reps, especially with two former Pro Bowlers (Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman) on hand in reserve and with Lamar Jackson always representing a threat to poach goal-line carries. The Ravens may end up keeping only three of Murray, Williams, Freeman and Bell active Week 4, but none of the quartet profiles as a bankable fantasy option.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Can't suit up

Perine (illness) is inactive for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Titans, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports.

Perine was sidelined from practice early in the week, but he managed a full practice Friday. Despite that step forward, he will remain inactive and has yet to play this season due to a combination of injuries and being a healthy scratch.

  • Marlon Mack RB | ARI

Colts' Marlon Mack: Back in the mix Sunday

Mack is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

As is Jonathan Taylor, who has been managing a knee issue, as well as change-of-pace back Nyheim Hines. In that context, Mack and Jordan Wilkins are on hand in reserve, but they don't appear destined for high-volume roles in Week 4, barring in-game developments that would change that.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

Bills' Matt Breida: Inactive once again

Breida is inactive for Sunday's game against Houston, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

Breida was given a surprise nod over Zack Moss in the Bils' opener. He didn't do much with the opportunity (four yards on four carries) and wasn't given the ball in Week 2. He's now been made inactive the last two games, meaning his value is shot unless something happens to Moss or Devin Singletary.

  • Football Team's Antonio Gibson: Suiting up Week 4

Gibson (shin) is listed as active Sunday at Atlanta.

Gibson didn't appear on Washington's injury report until Thursday, when he was absent due to a shin injury. He returned in a limited capacity to wrap up Week 4 prep, and while he was listed as questionable for Sunday's contest, the Football Team seemed to forecast his availability when he traveled with his teammates to Atlanta on Saturday. Now that he's got through pregame warmups unscathed, Gibson is poised for his leading share of the backfield work, which so far has translated to 17 touches for 95 yards from scrimmage per game to go with one touchdown in three appearances on the campaign.
