49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Missing second consecutive game

Mitchell (shoulder) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Seahawks, Keiana Martin of the 49ers' official site reports.

Mitchell's Week 2 shoulder injury was considered "worse than a stinger" by coach Kyle Shanahan at the time. Shanahan noted during Week 4 prep that Mitchell's availability would come down to pain tolerance, and the rookie sixth-round pick won't be able to give it a go just yet. While Mitchell misses a second consecutive game Sunday, Trey Sermon and fullback Kyle Juszczyk likely will handle the bulk of the backfield reps yet again. Beyond that duo, Trenton Cannon and Jacques Patrick are on hand for special-teams work and the occasional rep on offense, if needed.
