David Montgomery RB | HOU
Bears' David Montgomery: Expected to face Steelers
Montgomery (knee) is expected to be activated from IR in time to suit up versus the Steelers on Monday Night Football, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Montgomery hasn't played since Week 4 due to a knee sprain, but he appears to be trending toward a return to the field Week 9. The Bears have not yet made the transaction official, however. Rookie Khalil Herbert has impressed as Chicago's lead back while the Week 1 starter has been sidelined, and it's possible he retains a notable role even once Montgomery returns to action. Additionally, Damien Williams (knee) already has been ruled out.

Chase Edmonds RB | WAS
Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: High-ankle sprain feared
Edmonds may have suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's win over the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Edmonds was forced out of Sunday's divisional win after injuring his ankle during Arizona's first play. The results of Monday's MRI will confirm the severity of his injury, but if he's indeed suffered a high-ankle sprain the Cardinals likely will place him on injured reserve. Rapoport notes that such injuries generally carry a recovery timetable of 4-to-6 weeks. James Conner will operate as Arizona's lead running back if Edmonds is forced to miss any amount of time, while Eno Benjamin would be a candidate to step into the No. 2 role.

Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC
Panthers' Ameer Abdullah: Makes four grabs
Abdullah rushed once for no yards but caught four of five targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Patriots.
Abdullah worked behind the now-healthy Christian McCaffrey and rookie Chuba Hubbard, but he still managed to make an impact in the passing game. Although his third-string status should restrict his weekly upside, especially as McCaffrey's workload increases, Abdullah's skills in obvious throwing situations could help Carolina here and there. The veteran also returned two kickoffs for 43 total yards.

Elijah Mitchell RB | PHI
49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Finds success through air Sunday
Mitchell carried the ball eight times for 36 yards and caught all five of his targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Cardinals.
The 49ers found themselves in a 17-0 hole early in the second quarter, forcing the team to all but abandon its running game, leading to the least productive day of the season on the ground for Mitchell. The rookie stayed involved in the offense, however, setting career highs in catches, targets and receiving yards. Jeff Wilson was active for the first time all year Sunday but didn't see any touches. It's possible Wilson finds a larger role in Week 10 against the Rams, but Mitchell appears to have a firm hold on the No. 1 job in the San Francisco backfield as long as he stays healthy.

Kenyan Drake RB | GB
Raiders' Kenyan Drake: Productive as pass catcher
Drake rushed for 30 yards on four carries and caught six of eight targets for 70 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Giants.
Drake failed to find the end zone for the first time since Week 5, but he posted season highs in targets, receptions and receiving yards while playing over 40 percent of the Raiders' offensive snaps Sunday. Starter Josh Jacobs paced the team's rushing attack with 13 carries for 76 yards, though Drake proved more useful in the passing game. A similar script could materialize against the Chiefs in Week 10, as Drake looks to earn his fair share of targets if Las Vegas trails during the contest.

Eno Benjamin RB | NO
Cardinals' Eno Benjamin: Scores first career NFL TD
Benjamin carried the ball nine times for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-17 win over the 49ers.
Chase Edmonds (ankle) left the game early, and while James Conner dominated the backfield workload most of the afternoon, Benjamin got an opportunity to see the first significant action of his career in the second half and turned it into his first career TD. The 2020 seventh-round pick will need Edmonds to remain sidelined if he's going to get another such opportunity in Week 10 against the Panthers, however.
-
James Conner RB | ARI
Cardinals' James Conner: Scores three times in win
Conner carried the ball 21 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns and caught all five of his targets for 77 yards and another TD in Sunday's 34-17 win over the 49ers.
Chase Edmonds, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury in recent weeks, tweaked his ankle early in Sunday's contest and didn't return, leaving the backfield mostly in Conner's hands. The former Steeler then showed what he can do as a No. 1 RB, finding the end zone twice in the first quarter on red-zone runs before taking a screen pass 45 yards for his third score of the day early in the third quarter. His 173 scrimmage yards were by far a season high -- in fact, they more than doubled his prior best effort in an Arizona uniform -- and depending on how healthy Edmonds is, Conner could see a big workload again in Week 10 against the Panthers.

Kenneth Gainwell RB | TB
Eagles' Kenneth Gainwell: Finds end zone on just two touches
Gainwell rushed twice for three yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chargers.
Gainwell finished off a drive late in the third quarter to put the Eagles up 17-16. He would not register any other stats in the contest as he once again ran behind Jordan Howard and Boston Scott, who each saw double-digit carries. None of them were targeted in the passing game.
-
Boston Scott RB | PIT
Eagles' Boston Scott: Splits workload in loss
Scott carries the ball 10 times for 40 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chargers.
Jordan Howard took the lead role in the Eagles' backfield, getting 17 totes, leading the team in rushing yards and scoring a TD. Scott also didn't see a target -- no Philly RB did in this one -- and his typical 10-12 carry workload limits his fantasy utility to deeper formats heading into a Week 10 clash with the Broncos.
-
Austin Ekeler RB | WAS
Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Tops 80 yards in win
Ekeler carried the ball 17 times for 59 yards and caught all three of his targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Eagles.
While he managed a solid yardage total, the performance counts as a disappointing one for Ekeler, as it's only the second time this season he's been both held below 100 scrimmage yards and kept out of the end zone in a game. The 26-year-old running back has caught at least three passes in seven straight contests, a streak he seems likely to extend in Week 10 against the Vikings.
