  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Ruled out with collarbone injury

Edwards-Helaire (collarbone) will not return to Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Edwards-Helaire's return was initially considered questionable, but he has now been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's contest. The team will provide more information regarding his status in the near future, and if he winds up missing more time, Darrel Williams will take over as the Chiefs' starting running back.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: No running room in loss

Barkley rushed 15 times for 32 yards and secured his only target for minus-4 yards in the Giants' 34-10 loss to the Eagles.

It was yet another frustrating afternoon for Barkley, who once again found running room at a premium against an Eagles defense that had been vulnerable against the run at times this season. Barkley had seen an uptick in production on the ground in recent weeks with tallies of between 55 and 64 rushing yards over the last three games, during which he'd also recorded multiple receptions; therefore, Sunday's numbers represented a notable downturn in all aspects. With defenses having little to fear from the quarterback duo of Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm, Barkley's chances of finding consistent running lanes on the road against the Bears in Week 17 appear bleak.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Exits with injury

Edwards-Helaire injured his collarbone in Sunday's game against the Steelers and is questionable to return.

The extent of Edwards-Helaire's injury is uncertain, but his status will be updated when more information is released. Darrel Williams is the next man up in the Chiefs' backfield, and Derrick Gore slots in on the depth chart after Williams.

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

Jets' Michael Carter: Career-best rushing total in win

Carter rushed 16 times for 118 yards and caught two of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jaguars.

Carter set a new career high in rushing yards, easily topping his previous best of 77 from the Week 8 win over the Bengals. With their top three wide receivers injured, the Jets pounded Jacksonville's defense into submission with 273 yards on the ground. Carter was significantly more effective than Tevin Coleman, who rushed 14 times for 57 yards, while quarterback Zach Wilson chipped in 91 rushing yards, including a 52-yard touchdown. Building on this productive effort won't be easy for Carter in Week 17 against the stout Tampa Bay run defense.

  • Lions' Craig Reynolds: Gets 14 touches in loss

Reynolds rushed 11 times for 29 yards while catching three of four targets for 22 yards during Sunday's 20-16 loss to Atlanta.

Despite moving into a secondary role with Jamaal Williams back in action, Reynolds still saw a decent workload while easily topping the zero targets Williams saw in the passing game. However, not including a game-high 14 yard scamper by Williams, Detroit running backs collectively averaged 3.7 scoreless yards per carry as the offense initially struggled to do much with backup Tim Boyle under center. While the return of Jared Goff (COVID-19) could help open up the run game, Reynolds' Week 17 workload against Seattle will depend on the health of D'Andre Swift (shoulder), who returned to practice this past week and seems to be trending in the right direction.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Totals 70 yards, finds end zone

Mattison rushed the ball 13 times for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Rams. He added three receptions for 29 yards.

Mattison dominated touches out of Minnesota's backfield in the absence of Dalvin Cook (illness), accounting for 13 of 22 total rushes -- four of which were recorded by Kirk Cousins. However, he was held in check for much of the game, though he managed a two-yard touchdown plunge early in the third quarter to turn in a productive performance from a fantasy perspective. He was also fairly active as a receiver, which also supplemented his subpar work as a rusher. It's unclear whether Cook will be back for Minnesota's Week 17 matchup against Green Bay, but if not, Mattison will once again be in line for a significant workload.

  • Lions' Jamaal Williams: Approaches 20 carries

Williams rushed 19 times for 77 yards during Sunday's 20-16 loss to Atlanta.

Back from the COVID-19 reserve list, Williams picked up another start with D'Andre Swift (shoulder) sidelined for a fourth consecutive game. However, both Craig Reynolds (four targets) and fullback Jason Cabinda (two) were more involved in the passing game, and Reynolds also stole 11 carries from him. While Williams should again be the lead ball carrier in Week 17 against Seattle if Swift remains sidelined, it seems clear that he won't monopolize backfield touches given Reynolds' emergence.

  • Zack Moss RB | CIN

Bills' Zack Moss: Four touches in Week 16

Moss rushed three times for 12 yards and caught his only target for 13 yards in Sunday's 33-21 win over the Patriots.

Moss suited up for the first time since Week 13, with Matt Breida sitting as a healthy scratch. Devin Singletary dominated touches in Buffalo's backfield and finished with 78 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 17 touches. The touchdown came from two yards out, so Singletary has supplanted Moss as Buffalo's preferred short-yardage option. Without a role near the goal line, Moss doesn't see enough volume to garner much fantasy consideration, even with a favorable Week 17 matchup against the Falcons up next.

  • Bills' Devin Singletary: Finds end zone in lead role

Singletary rushed 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-21 win over the Patriots. He added five catches for 39 yards on six targets.

Matt Breida was a healthy scratch, and Singletary worked as the lead back over Zack Moss (three carries for 12 yards) in Buffalo's backfield. Singletary restored Buffalo's two-possession lead in the fourth quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown, notably getting the call in close over Moss, who had been Buffalo's preferred short-yardage back earlier in the season. The 24-year-old Singletary has a modest four touchdowns this season, but he has now scored in consecutive games heading into a Week 17 visit from the Falcons.

  • Damien Harris RB | BUF

Patriots' Damien Harris: Three TDs not enough in Week 16

Harris (hamstring) rushed 18 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 33-21 loss to Buffalo. He wasn't targeted in the passing game.

Harris rumbled for a 16-yard touchdown to get New England on the board early in the second quarter. He scored his second touchdown of the day from one yard out in the third quarter, then added his third of the afternoon and 12th of the season from eight yards out in the fourth. The ball came out at the end of Harris' third touchdown and was recovered by the Bills, but Harris was able to cross the goal line before losing possession. This performance answered any questions about the health of Harris' hamstring, but unfortunately for the Patriots, he got no help from the team's passing game or defense. Harris will have a golden opportunity to add to his robust touchdown total in Week 17 against the 2-13 Jaguars.
