Josh Jacobs RB | GB
Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Non-participant at minicamp
Jacobs was held out of practices at June minicamp due to an undisclosed injury, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
With no report of offseason surgery or a major injury, Jacobs seemingly has a good chance to be ready for the start of training camp in late July. He's entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract after the Raiders declined to pick up his fifth-year option for $8.03 million. Between that and the presence of a new coaching staff, Jacobs won't automatically have the same role as in past seasons, though it helps his cause to have modest competition for early down snaps -- namely 28-year-old Kenyan Drake (coming back from a major ankle injury) and fourth-round rookie Zamir White. For passing situations, the Raiders have a few more options, with Jacobs and Drake joined by offseason signees Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Could be ready for camp?
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Edwards (knee) and fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) both have "a chance" to be ready for the start of training camp, Sarah Ellison of the Ravens' official site reports.
Harbaugh said both backs are on track with rehabbing ACL tears, making him "hopeful" they'll be available Week 1. It's actually Edwards who has the better chance to meet that goal, despite suffering his injury two weeks later, as Dobbins' ACL tear was accompanied by LCL damage. If neither is ready for the start of camp, Mike Davis could get work with the first-team offense.

J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN
Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Not ruled out for camp
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Dobbins (knee) and fellow running back Gus Edwards (knee) have "a chance" to be ready for the start of training camp, though the coach is "more hopeful" for the beginning of the regular season, Sarah Ellison of the Ravens' official site reports.
Also mentioned in the same group by Harbaugh was LT Ronnie Stanley, who missed most of the past two seasons after breaking his ankle. Dobbins suffered an even more serious injury, with his ACL tear in August accompanied by LCL damage. Harbaugh said all three players are on schedule in their respective rehab processes, but that could put Dobbins behind the others nonetheless, as Edwards suffered his ACL tear just two weeks later with no reported damage to other ligaments.

Scottie Phillips RB | HOU
Scottie Phillips: Waived from IR
Phillips (ankle) was waived from the reserve/injured list Thursday.
Phillips initially reverted to injured reserve in early May, but he'll be free to seek out other opportunities ahead of training camp. However, the running back hasn't played since Week 9 of the 2021 season due to his ankle injury, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the field.

Ezekiel Elliott RB | LAC
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Fully healthy ahead of camp
Elliott has no injury concerns ahead of training camp, Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
"I think the biggest thing with Zeke is he's completely healthy now and he's had a tremendous offseason," Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday. "The weight that he has been pushing in the weight room, just the numbers that he's been cranking out have been very, very impressive. I can't tell you it's been the best of his career, but he's in top shape. So, I think he's definitely set himself up for [a strong season]." Elliott played last season with a torn ligament in his knee but still ran for 1,002 rushing yards and 10 TDs, and if he's 100 percent in 2022 it should only improve his performance. The 26-year-old is closing in on 2,000 touches for his career, however, so while being in great shape during the offseason is preferable to the alternative, there's no guarantee he'll stay that way through a 17-game schedule.

Jeremy McNichols RB | WAS
Jeremy McNichols: Let go Thursday
McNichols was released by the Falcons on Thursday.
The 5-foot-9 running back was dropped along with receiver Austin Trammell in corresponding moves to make room for the additions of offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison and defensive lineman Jalen Dalton. McNichols spent the past two seasons playing for Tennessee, accumulating 655 yards on 116 total touches over 30 regular-season games during that span.

Raheem Mostert RB | LV
Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Close to full health
Mostert (knee) announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he's "close to 100 percent" healthy.
Mostert also wrote that his "rehab is going great." While the veteran running back hasn't been a participant in the Dolphins' offseason program, he appears close to a return to on-field work. If Mostert is available for the start of training camp in late July, it would be an encouraging sign for his health, but an exact timetable for him to participate fully with the Dolphins isn't known. In any case, once Mostert is fully recovered from the surgery he underwent to address chipped cartilage in his left knee, he'll join Chase Edmonds and Sony Michel in Miami's revamped running back room.

Cordarrelle Patterson RB | PIT
Falcons' Cordarrelle Patterson: Will be held out of minicamp
Patterson won't practice during mandatory minicamp, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said before Tuesday's practice that Patterson is "working on a vet offseason program" instead of participating in minicamp practices. The converted kick returner experienced a breakout campaign during his first year in Atlanta, totaling 1,166 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns and emerging as the team's top running back. However, he fell off towards the end of the season, registering just 100 total yards and one score over his last four games. A better-conditioned Patterson could garner more opportunities on a game-by-game basis and may be more effective later in the season, which would bode well for his overall fantasy potential.

Max Borghi RB | PIT
Max Borghi: Trying out with Denver
Borghi is participating in minicamp with the Broncos on a tryout basis, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
The 23-year-old Washington State product was waived by the Colts about a month ago and still is trying to find some footing in the NFL. Borghi excelled as a pass-catching back in college, but even so he's a long shot to land a spot with the team.

Jerick McKinnon RB | KC
Chiefs' Jerick McKinnon: Rejoining K.C. backfield
McKinnon is re-signing with the Chiefs on a one-year deal Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
McKinnon handled a prominent role on offense during Kansas City's playoff run last season, both as a runner and receiver, and he now rejoins Clyde Edwards-Helaire and free-agent addition Ronald Jones in the backfield. On 48 touches through three playoff games in 2021, McKinnon racked up 315 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown. The 30-year-old veteran's return could end up limiting Edwards-Helaire's upside in what may prove to be a more crowded backfield than fantasy managers would prefer.
