Zander Horvath RB | MIA
Chargers' Zander Horvath: Scores TD in first game of career
Horvath carried the ball once for two yards and also registered two receptions for six yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders.
Horvath easily beat out Gabe Nabers for the starting fullback job during the preseason, and the 2022 seventh-round pick immediately found the endzone in the first game of his career. Don't expect Horvath to see much fantasy utility moving forward, as the rookie is more of a blocker than offensive weapon.

Joshua Kelley RB | TEN
Chargers' Joshua Kelley: Splits time as backup
Kelley tallied four carries for 21 yards and also snared two receptions for 14 yards in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders.
Both Kelley and newly signed Sony Michel worked in tandem to spell starter Austin Ekeler, as the duo combined for 34 offensive snaps compared to Ekeler's 33. Kelley outsnapped the veteran 18 to 16 and produced significantly more in terms of yardage (35 total yards to Michel's 12) despite seeing one fewer touch, but if Ekeler were to get injured it's not clear if either backup would emerge as the No. 1. Fourth-round pick Isaiah Spiller, inactive in Week 1, could also factor into the mix at some point this season.

Najee Harris RB | LAC
Steelers' Najee Harris: Says he'll play Week 2
Harris (foot) said Tuesday in his appearance on Sirius XM's "Mad Dog Sports Radio" that he "will be playing this weekend" against the Patriots.
Harris appears to have avoided a major foot injury after he exited the Steelers' season-opening overtime win over the Bengals late in the contest, with medical tests coming back negative. Even though he noted Tuesday that he "should be back practicing this week" before suiting up Sunday, a decision on his availability for the Week 2 matchup is likely to be made by the Steelers' training and coaching staffs, not the player himself. If Harris' prediction comes true and he suits up this weekend, he could still carry a designation into the contest if he's unable to turn in a full practice by Friday. The second-year back previously dealt with a Lisfranc sprain to the same foot during training camp, so the Steelers may be incentivized to exercise caution with him and perhaps even lighten his workload and snap count in Week 2 to avoid a longer-term setback. Rookie Jaylen Warren is the next man up in the backfield if the Steelers elect to hold out or limit Harris this weekend.

DeeJay Dallas RB | JAC
Seahawks' DeeJay Dallas: No offensive looks
Dallas returned three kicks for 77 yards in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos.
Dallas played just three offensive snaps and didn't record a touch. He'll continue to take kick returns and make an impact on special teams, but his offensive role will be limited, especially once rookie Kenneth Walker (hernia) returns.
-
Travis Homer RB | PIT
Seahawks' Travis Homer: Works as No. 2 back
Homer rushed once for two yards in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos.
Homer was on the field for nearly every third down. He played 19 of 55 offensive snaps (35 percent), while Rashaad Penny handled 38 snaps and DeeJay Dallas played three snaps. Homer's role will become cloudy once rookie Kenneth Walker (hernia) returns from injury.

Rashaad Penny RB | CAR
Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Gets 14 touches in Week 1 win
Penny rushed 12 times for 60 yards and caught two of three targets for seven yards in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos.
Penny picked up where he left off late last season as Seattle's featured back, as other Seahawks running backs combined for just one rushing attempt. Penny put the ball on the ground at the end of a 26-yard run in the second quarter, but a mix of hustle and awareness from center Austin Blythe to get on top of it ensured that Seattle kept possession. A would-be 23-yard run was erased by a holding penalty in the third, but Penny still averaged a productive 5.0 yards on the carries that counted. The eventual return of rookie second-round pick Kenneth Walker (hernia) could complicate matters, but Penny should monopolize carries until that point, and Walker may not be ready for his NFL debut when the Seahawks face the 49ers in Week 2.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Loses key fumble in narrow loss
Gordon rushed 12 times for 58 yards, caught both of his targets for 14 yards and lost a fumble in Monday's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks.
Gordon got the call on fourth-and-goal from Seattle's one-yard line but was stopped short and had the ball pop loose for a fumble. Javonte Williams then fumbled at the four-yard line on Denver's next possession, so neither running back asserted himself as the clear top option in the red zone. A game plan heavy on runs and short passes allowed both Gordon and Williams (108 scrimmage yards on seven carries and 11 catches) to get plenty of touches, and Gordon should remain heavily involved in Week 2 against Houston.

Javonte Williams RB | DAL
Broncos' Javonte Williams: Costly fumble mars 11-catch night
Williams rushed seven times for 43 yards, caught 11 of 12 targets for 65 yards and lost a fumble in Monday's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks.
Williams had a golden opportunity to establish himself as Denver's preferred option at the goal line after Melvin Gordon fumbled on the one-yard line in the third quarter, but Williams returned the favor on the very next possession by fumbling on the four-yard line. Denver trailed throughout the game, which led to heavy involvement for Williams as a pass catcher, showing that he has a substantial touch floor despite the presence of Gordon. In Week 2, the Broncos will host a Houston team that allowed 161 rushing yards and a touchdown to star Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, offering both backs a chance to rebound after their costly turnovers.

Tyrion Davis-Price RB | GB
49ers' Tyrion Davis-Price: To compete for backup job
Davis-Price -- who was inactive in Sunday's loss to the Bears -- will compete with Jordan Mason during practice this week for the primary backup job behind Jeff Wilson following the news Elijah Mitchell (knee) has an eight-week recovery timetable, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Barrows also shed light on how Davis-Price lost out to fellow rookie Jordan Mason in a private training camp battle for third on the depth chart. This landed the third-round pick from this year's draft as a healthy scratch for Week 1, rendering the LSU product helpless as his team scrambled for a replacement for Mitchell in the second half of a disappointing loss. Whoever wins the job battle should get some work alongside Wilson against the Seahawks on Sunday.

Jordan Mason RB | MIN
49ers' Jordan Mason: Will compete for No. 2 job
Mason will compete with Tyrion Davis-Price during team practices this week to see who will serve as Jeff Wilson's backup following the announcement that Elijah Mitchell (knee) will miss a minimum of eight weeks, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Barrows added that the two rookies already had been competing in camp, and that's why Davis-Price was a healthy scratch and Mason served as the third active back Week 1. With the veteran Wilson announced as the starter, he becomes the priority add for those in need of running back help. Traditionally, head coach Kyle Shanahan prefers to use a two-back approach to his run-heavy schemes, so whoever wins this marginally important job battle could generate some fantasy value over the course of the season.
