Jordan Mason RB | MIN
49ers' Jordan Mason: Injury opens up No. 2 job
Mason will take over the No. 2 spot on the 49ers' running back depth chart following the news that Tyrion Davis-Price (ankle) will miss several weeks, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Davis-Price -- who appeared to beat the undrafted Mason for the No. 2 job in practice last week -- suffered the injury late in Sunday's 27-7 win over Seattle. Mason served as the third active back and did not receive a touch (eight snaps on special teams), so it's hard to get excited about the undrafted rookie's new elevated role. Chan also added that practice squad veteran Marlon Mack is a candidate to be elevated to the active roster, so he could leapfrog the less-experienced Mason. However the backup spots shake out, Jeff Wilson (20 touches for 103 yards) was the clear lead back in Sunday's win, making him the desired fantasy target for running back stats in San Francisco heading into a matchup against the Broncos on Sunday Night Football.

Craig Reynolds RB | NE
Lions' Craig Reynolds: Four touches against former team
Reynolds rushed three times for 16 yards while securing his only target for 13 yards during Sunday's 36-27 win over Washington.
After being contained to special teams in the season opener, Reynolds saw some modest run, possibly because of D'Andre Swift's reported ankle sprain. He was efficient in doing so, but he didn't see nearly enough playing time behind Swift and Jamaal Williams to have a chance at fantasy relevance.

Jamaal Williams RB | NO
Lions' Jamaal Williams: Given majority of carries
Williams rushed 12 times for 53 yards while catching his only target for seven receiving yards during Sunday's 36-27 win over Washington.
Williams handled the bulk of the rushing workload while D'Andre Swift bounced back from an ankle sprain. However, Swift still outproduced Williams by gaining 56 yards on his five carries, perfectly exemplifying the explosiveness Swift brings relative to Williams. While Williams nonetheless will be leaned on frequently to take pressure off Swift, he'll likely need to find the end zone to have worthwhile fantasy utility in any given week.

Ty Chandler RB | NO
Vikings' Ty Chandler: Inactive Monday
Chandler (coach's decision) is inactive Monday against the Eagles.
Chandler will have to wait another week to try and make his NFL debut, as he remains behind Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu on the depth chart. The rookie will keep working to push his way up the Vikings' ranks and earn a chance to suit up in Week 3 against the Lions.
-
Trey Sermon RB | PIT
Eagles' Trey Sermon: Sitting again Week 2
Sermon (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game against the Vikings.
Since joining the Eagles after roster cutdowns Sept. 1, Sermon has been a healthy scratch for both of the team's contests. This may be his reality without an injury to a member of the backfield, which is paced by Miles Sanders with Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott in reserve.

Tyrion Davis-Price RB | GB
49ers' Tyrion Davis-Price: Set to miss time with ankle injury
Coach Kyle Shanahan relayed Monday that Davis-Price will miss a few weeks with a high-ankle sprain, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
With Elijah Mitchell (knee) on IR, Davis-Price stepped into an increased role in the 49ers backfield Week 2 behind Jeff Wilson, carrying the ball 14 times for 33 yards. Now that Davis-Price is in line to miss some time, rookie Jordan Mason, who joined the team as an undrafted free agent in May, now should have an opportunity to carve out a complementary role in the coming weeks, while Marlon Mack is a candidate to be promoted from the team's practice squad.

Patrick Taylor RB | SF
Patrick Taylor: Goes back to practice squad
Taylor reverted to the Packers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction report.
Taylor got the call to be the Packers' No. 3 running back Sunday against the Bears with Kylin Hill (knee) still on the PUP list. However, he never saw the field on offense and only contributed on eight special-teams snaps. With Hill out for at least two more weeks, Taylor will look to earn another chance with the active roster Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Matt Breida RB | SF
Giants' Matt Breida: Loses yardage on lone carry
Breida lost four yards on his only rushing attempt and did not catch his only target against Carolina in a 19-16 win Sunday.
Saquon Barkley again dominated running back touches for the Giants in Week 2, notching 21 carries and four catches. Breida logged 11 offensive snaps and got just one touch, which was a carry for negative yardage late in the fourth quarter. Breida has collected just six rushing attempts and one target through two weeks, emphasizing his lack of fantasy relevance barring an injury to Barkley.
-
Gary Brightwell RB | CIN
Giants' Gary Brightwell: Gets one touch in Week 2
Brightwell rushed once for 14 yards and was not targeted in the passing game during a 19-16 victory versus the Panthers on Sunday.
Brightwell was in on only one offensive snap in the contest, but he made the most of it with a 14-yard rush in a third-and-one situation in the fourth quarter. The carry moved New York past midfield and helped set up Graham Gano's game-deciding 56-yard field goal. In addition to the one carry, Brightwell logged 17 snaps on special teams, which is where he figures to make most of his impact this season.

J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN
Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Still week-to-week
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Dobbins (knee) remains week-to-week, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Harbaugh declined to offer any information about Dobbins' chances of playing Week 3 versus New England, so the 2020 second-round pick still remains without a solid return timetable. Though Dobbins managed to resume practicing in full last week, the Ravens continue to take a cautious approach to his return from a serious left knee injury. That said, as long as Dobbins can continue looking good in practices without any setbacks, he could convince Harbaugh and Baltimore's coaching staff that Week 3 is an opportune time for this 2022 debut.
