  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Shines in absence of Elliott

Pollard rushed the ball 14 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 49-29 win over the Bears. He added one reception for 16 yards.

Pollard got the opportunity to serve as the Cowboys' lead back with Ezekiel Elliott (knee) sidelined, and he took full advantage. His three scores came from 18, seven and 54 yards, and he also added an explosive play as a pass catcher. While Pollard won't continue to see heavy usage as consistently once Elliott is able to return, he does have double-digit carries in three consecutive games. Even while sharing the backfield, Pollard has topped 80 rushing yards in four of eight contests on the campaign.

  • Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Records 80 all-purpose yards in win

Mostert rushed 14 times for 64 yards, brought in his only target for three yards and returned one kickoff for 13 yards in the Dolphins' 31-27 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Mostert put together an efficient effort on the ground that saw him average 4.6 yards per tote, and the fact his long gain was just 13 yards underscores the fact he consistently churned out solid gains. However, the veteran back was less involved in the passing game than might have been expected following a season-high four-catch tally in Week 7, and his rushing opportunities may have been somewhat capped by the Dolphins falling into an early 14-0 hole they eventually crawled out of. Mostert does have at least 64 rush yards in four of the last five games, however, a favorable trend he'll hope to extend against the Bears' vulnerable run defense in a Week 9 road matchup.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Receiving TD in return

Swift (ankle/shoulder) rushed five times for six yards and secured all five targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' 31-27 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.

Swift had a minimal role on the ground as his line clearly indicates, but he did partly make up for it with a solid performance through the air that included a seven-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter. The third-year back was at least able to make it through the game without any aggravation of either of his previously nagging injuries, and his catch total was a season high. Swift will hope for more work on the ground when the Lions face off with the Packers in a divisional clash at home in Week 9.

  • Damien Harris RB | BUF

Patriots' Damien Harris: Outplayed by Stevenson

Harris had 11 carries for 37 yards and caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Jets.

Harris was the clear No. 2 running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson, who compiled 143 scrimmage yards on 16 carries and eight targets. Stevenson has been significantly more explosive on the ground recently in addition to contributing much more in the passing game, so Harris is having trouble carving out a valuable role in a low-ceiling New England offense. Harris and the Patriots will face the Colts in Week 9.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Tops 140 scrimmage yards in win

Stevenson rushed 16 times for 71 yards and caught seven of eight targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Jets.

Stevenson led the Patriots in both rushing and receiving yards, notably outperforming Damien Harris (11 carries for 37 yards). A Harris hamstring injury earlier this season opened the door for Stevenson to take over the lead role, and the second-year running back hasn't relinquished it since, even with Harris back in the fold. Stevenson has rushed for at least 66 yards in five of his last six games heading into a Week 9 visit from the Colts.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Racks up 141 total yards, TD in win

Cook rushed 20 times for 111 yards and a touchdown and brought in five of six targets for 30 yards in the Vikings' 34-26 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Cook turned in the best all-around performance of any Vikings skill player, generating his first 100-yard game of 2022 and a season high in receptions and receiving yards in the process. The star back also scored his fourth rushing touchdown in the last three games with a four-yard run in the third quarter to extend Minnesota's lead to two possessions at the time. Cook next faces a stingy Commanders run defense on the road in a Week 9 battle.

  • Jaguars' JaMycal Hasty: Seven touches sans Robinson

Hasty rushed four times for 13 yards, caught three of four targets for minus-three yards and returned one kickoff for 29 yards during Sunday's 21-17 loss to Denver.

The 26-year-old served as the Jaguars' No. 2 tailback with James Robinson traded to the Jets after Week 7, but he found minimal room to run despite a season-high seven touches. Etienne ran all over Denver with 162 scrimmage yards on 27 touches and should continue to dominate Jacksonville's backfield work. Hasty likely won't find any fantasy relevance as long as Etienne remains healthy.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Panthers' D'Onta Foreman: Runs in three TDs in OT loss

Foreman rushed 26 times for 118 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 37-34 overtime loss to Atlanta. He didn't catch his only target and ran in a two-point conversion.

Foreman was the focal point of Carolina's offense with fellow running back Chuba Hubbard (ankle) ruled out. With the PJ Walker-led passing game struggling in the first half, a two-yard Foreman touchdown gave the Panthers a 10-7 lead in the second quarter, and he went into halftime with 73 rushing yards on 13 carries. Foreman kept it going in the second half, producing a one-yard touchdown followed by a two-point conversion to tie the game at 21 early in the fourth quarter before tying the game at 28 by finding the end zone from 12 yards out. Even if Hubbard's cleared to play in Week 9 against the Bengals, Foreman has likely earned himself the lead role moving forward.

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

Jets' Michael Carter: Gets seven carries, seven targets

Carter rushed seven times for 26 yards and caught four of seven targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Patriots.

Carter got seven rushing attempts to five for new teammate James Robinson, but the absence of Breece Hall's (knee) big play ability in the backfield forced the Jets to go more pass-heavy. That approach led to more chunk plays through the air and a handful of opportunities for Carter as a pass catcher, but Zach Wilson threw three costly interceptions. Carter's ability to contribute as both a rusher and receiver should keep his touch floor high in Week 9 against the Bills and beyond, regardless of game script.

  • Jets' James Robinson: Used sparingly in Jets debut

Robinson rushed five times for 17 yards and didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Patriots.

Robinson didn't make much of an impact in his first game with the Jets, as New York went to a more pass-heavy game plan after losing running back Breece Hall to a season-ending ACL tear. As Robinson familiarizes himself with the offense, the trade acquisition from Jacksonville is likely to take on a larger role with his new team, but another negative game script could lead to limited rushing attempts in Week 9 against the Bills.
