Jerome Ford RB | WAS
Browns' Jerome Ford: Back as returner
Ford returned three kickoffs for 95 yards and did not play on offense in Sunday's 39-17 loss to the Dolphins.
Ford, who missed the bare minimum of four games on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, was activated over the weekend and made an immediate impact with a 48-yard return on Sunday's opening kickoff. While there will be little chance of him getting elevated to a prominent backfield role unless the Browns experience multiple injuries up the depth chart, he should serve as the top kickoff returner. Ford may also be the top punt returner, too, but the Dolphins never had to punt Sunday.

Demetric Felton RB | WAS
Browns' Demetric Felton: Inactive Week 10
Felton did not suit up for Sunday's loss to the Dolphins in Week 10.
Felton was a healthy inactive for the fourth time in nine weeks because the Browns welcomed back Jerome Ford from his ankle injury. Drafted as a hybrid back/receiver in 2021, Felton's failed to make an impact during his one-plus seasons in the NFL.

Malik Davis RB | DAL
Cowboys' Malik Davis: Performs well in backup role
Davis rushed five times for 38 yards and was not targeted in Sunday's 31-28 loss to Green Bay.
Ezekiel Elliott (knee) was unable to suit up coming out of the bye, so Davis got another shot to back up Tony Pollard. The undrafted rookie was far more effective this time around (7.6 YPC) after struggling with twice as many touches last week. Zeke's status for next Sunday's tilt against Minnesota is still uncertain, but Davis would need both of the Cowboys' starting running backs to be sidelined to generate value in standard leagues.

Elijah Mitchell RB | PHI
49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Game-high 89 yards in return
Mitchell (knee) rushed 18 times for 89 yards and lost one yard on his lone reception (two targets) in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Chargers.
Mitchell returned to action after going down with a knee injury in the first game of the regular season. The 24-year-old looked to be in midseason form despite the lengthy layoff, as he paced the team in carries (18) and rushing yards (89) fresh off of injured reserve. Christian McCaffrey (18 touches for 77 yards and a score) still did his thing as the running backs nearly split touches. CMC figures to be the featured back -- in addition to handling most receiving work -- but the 49ers' former starter could carve out value if he continues to see double-digit touches. Make sure Mitchell is rostered ahead of next Monday's tilt against the Cardinals.

Christian McCaffrey RB | SF
49ers' Christian McCaffrey: Saves tough rushing day with TD
McCaffrey rushed 14 times for 38 yards and a touchdown while catching four of six targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Chargers.
McCaffrey struggled to find running lanes against a porous rush defense, but he salvaged what would have been a quiet fantasy day with a short score in the second quarter. Projected 2022 starter Elijah Mitchell (knee) returned from IR in this contest and nearly split touches with his new teammate. Fantasy managers shouldn't worry about Mitchell's presence too much, as McCaffrey still received 18 touches with San Francisco's offense at full strength following the bye. The fantasy stud's managers will enjoy the benefit of a late-matchup scoring boost when the 49ers take on the Cardinals in Mexico City next Monday.

Austin Ekeler RB | WAS
Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Limited to short catches
Ekeler carried the ball six times for 24 yards and caught seven of his 12 targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 22-16 loss to the 49ers.
The Chargers tried to limit the 49ers' effective pass rush by checking it down to Ekeler, and while the dual-threat running back did snare a handful of tosses, there just wasn't much opportunity to tally yards after the catch. Sunday also saw the end of Ekeler's five-game touchdown streak as the Chargers curiously opted to throw on the majority of their red-zone plays. It should get a bit easier next week as the Chargers take on the Chiefs in a pivotal divisional battle.

Cam Akers RB | SEA
Rams' Cam Akers: Stuck in committee
Akers carried the ball six times for 22 yards and failed to catch his only target during Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Cardinals.
The 22 yards actually wound up leading the Rams, as the team's backfield featured a three-way split of the workload between Akers, Darrell Henderson (seven touches) and Kyren Williams (four touches). Working in a sputtering offense behind an injury-ravaged offensive line, it will be almost impossible for any of the backs in this committee to make a fantasy impact in Week 11 against the Saints.
-
James Conner RB | ARI
Cardinals' James Conner: Finds end zone twice in win
Conner carried the ball 21 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Rams. He also caught all three of his targets for 17 yards.
The 27-year-old back hadn't scored since Week 1, but a healthy Conner finally regained the nose for the end zone he displayed in 2021. He punched in his first TD late in the second quarter on a four-yard run, then scored on a nine-yard scamper midway through the fourth. Conner will look to keep rolling in Week 11 against a 49ers defense he scored three touchdowns against in two meetings last year.
-
Latavius Murray RB | BUF
Broncos' Latavius Murray: Leads Denver in carries
Murray rushed the ball nine times for 24 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Tennessee. He added three receptions on three targets for 23 yards.
Murray paced the Denver backfield with nine carries despite Melvin Gordon drawing the start and working the first few offensive possessions. Neither back was particularly efficient on the ground, though Gordon managed a superior performance as a pass catcher. While both Gordon and Murray split the work fairly evenly out of Denver's backfield, it's unclear whether the team may plan to mix Chase Edmonds in more regularly as he grows more familiar with the offense.

Josh Jacobs RB | GB
Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Big effort wasted against Colts
Jacobs carried the ball 21 times for 78 yards and a touchdown and caught six of eight targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Colts.
For the first time since Week 7 and the fourth time this season, Jacobs topped 100 scrimmage yards with at least one TD, but it wasn't enough to get the Raiders into the win column. The fourth-year back is well on his way to the best numbers of his career heading into a Week 11 clash with a Broncos defense he torched for 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their first meeting this year.
