  • Panthers' Baker Mayfield: Diagnosed with high-ankle sprain

Mayfield is expected to miss time due to the left high-ankle sprain he suffered in Sunday's loss to the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Mayfield's recovery timetable hasn't yet been established, but the quarterback is at least set to miss the Panthers' Week 6 matchup with the Rams. With Sam Darnold (ankle) not on track to return from injured reserve this week, P.J. Walker appears positioned to draw the start in Los Angeles. In addition to having to overcome a significant injury, Mayfield now will have to adjust to the Panthers' having fired head coach Matt Rhule on Monday and naming Steve Wilks as the new interim boss. Wilks becomes the sixth different head coach that Mayfield will have worked with in his NFL career.

  • Dak Prescott QB | DAL

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Will need full week of practice

Prescott (thumb) will likely need to practice for a full week before Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy inserts him back into the lineup, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The quarterback has been out since Week 1 after suffering a fracture in the thumb on his throwing hand, but backup Cooper Rush has led the team to four straight wins in his place, giving the team some breathing room to let Prescott fully heal up before he returns to action. Prescott will be evaluated by team doctors Tuesday, and even if he's cleared to begin throwing a football, there's still no guarantee he'll be an option for Week 6 against the Eagles.

  • Panthers' Baker Mayfield: MRI coming, X-rays negative

Mayfield is scheduled to receive an MRI on his foot Monday after being seen in a walking boot following Sunday's loss to the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Mayfield already has had X-rays on his foot, which came back negative. The starting quarterback was checked for an ankle injury at halftime of Sunday's loss, but he was able to remain in the game before being replaced by P.J. Walker late in the fourth quarter. The results of Monday's MRI should reveal more about his chances of suiting up for Week 6 against the Rams. If Mayfield is forced to miss time, it could fall to Walker to step in and helm Carolina's offense, as there's been no indication Sam Darnold (ankle) will be ready to come off IR.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Goes for two scores Sunday

Burrow completed 24 of 35 pass attempts for 217 yards, a touchdown and an interception while adding three rushes for six yards and another score in Sunday's 19-17 loss to Baltimore.

The Ravens were intent on not giving up the deep ball to Burrow and his favorite target, Ja'Marr Chase (seven catches for 50 yards), leading to punts on the Bengals' first four drives of the contest. The 25-year-old continued to take what the defense gave him, keeping his team in the game until the final drive without his usual gaudy passing totals. Burrow saved what would have been his worst fantasy performance of the season with a one-yard touchdown plunge with 1:58 left in the fourth quarter, but Lamar Jackson led a clutch drive on the next possession to eventually seal the win for the Ravens. Burrow will attempt to get Cincinnati back into the win column against a resilient Saints unit next Sunday.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Leads team to narrow victory

Jackson completed 19 of 32 pass attempts for 174 yards, a touchdown and an interception while rushing 12 times for 58 yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Bengals.

Jackson turned in his second mediocre passing game in a row after a torrid start to the season. The dual-threat quarterback did provide his fantasy managers with a burst of rushing yards on the final drive of the game to bolster his line and lead the Ravens to a key victory within the division. Even with this brief cold spell (by his elite standards), the impending unrestricted free agent remains one of the best producers at the position. Jackson will lead the 3-2 Ravens into a tough matchup against the Giants' much-improved defense next Sunday.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Quiet performance in victory

Tannehill completed 15 of 25 passes for 181 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 21-17 win over the Commanders.

Tannehill has been asked to do very little for the Titans this season, with the offense instead running through Derrick Henry. He has now attempted fewer than 30 passes in each of Tennessee's last four games, three of which have been wins. While Tannehill does what is asked of him effectively, it doesn't translate to impressive stat lines, as he has failed to top 200 passing yards or throw for multiple touchdowns in three of his five games on the campaign.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Tops 300 yards in Week 5 loss

Stafford completed 28 of 42 passes for 308 yards with a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Cowboys.

The veteran quarterback was under constant pressure all day, but when Stafford had a bit of time he was able to move the ball. However, when he didn't he got sacked five times and fumbled on two of them, with DeMarcus Lawrence returning one of those fumbles for a 19-yard TD. It was Stafford's first 300-yard performance of the year, but his 5:7 TD:INT through five games is a major regression from his 2021 numbers. He'll look to cut down on the turnovers in Week 6 against the Panthers.

  • Cooper Rush QB | BAL

Cowboys' Cooper Rush: Quiet in Sunday's win

Rush completed 10 of 16 passes for 102 yards without a touchdown or interception in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Rams.

He also lost one yard on four carries. The 28-year-old quarterback had a poor performance from a fantasy perspective, but Rush didn't need to be a hero with the defense and running game carrying the load. Dak Prescott (thumb) has yet to show the progress in his recovery needed in order to get back on the field, which likely leaves Rush under center once again in Week 6 in what's become a huge NFC East showdown with the undefeated Eagles.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Seahawks' Geno Smith: Stays hot in loss

Smith completed 16 of 25 passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 39-32 loss to the Saints.

Smith attempted a season-low 25 pass attempts, though that was largely because he helped Seattle's offense score so efficiently. He shredded the Saints' secondary for long touchdowns of 50, 40 and 35 yards to keep his team in the game in a high-scoring affair. Through five games this season, Smith has thrown multiple touchdowns four times and has topped 250 passing yards in each of his last three matchups.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

Panthers' P.J. Walker: Sees action late in Sunday's loss

Walker completed five of six passes for 60 yards after replacing Baker Mayfield (ankle) late in Sunday's 37-15 loss to the 49ers.

The 27-year-old quarterback handled Carolina's final possession after Mayfield left the game, but Walker ran out of time to put any points on the board. Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports that Mayfield was wearing a walking boot after the game, and if he ends up missing additional time, Walker could get the start in Week 6 against Aaron Donald and the Rams.
