  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Mediocre numbers in loss

Minshew completed 23 of 41 passes for 213 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the Colts' 38-27 loss to the Saints on Sunday. He also rushed once for three yards.

Minshew put together an inefficient day overall that highlighted some of his shortcomings as a passer. Minshew did keep the Colts in the game for the majority of the afternoon and connected with Michael Pittman and Drew Ogletree for scoring passes of 10 and 33 yards, respectively, for the quarterback's second straight multi-touchdown effort, but he also threw an interception for the third consecutive contest. Minshew's first opportunity to bounce back comes in a Week 9 road battle against the Panthers.

  • Tyrod Taylor QB | GB

Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Remaining in hospital overnight

The Giants stated after their game Sunday that Taylor will undergo further examination on his rib cage and will remain in the hospital overnight.

Taylor departed Sunday's game against the Jets after taking a hit in the second quarter. The veteran quarterback was subsequently transported to a local hospital and is slated to undergo additional testing and observation, putting his availability for Week 9 against Las Vegas in question. Undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito took the reins Sunday and could do so again versus the Raiders if Taylor is unable to play and Daniel Jones (neck) remains sidelined, though New York would almost certainly look to add another QB in that scenario.

  • Bryce Young QB | CAR

Panthers' Bryce Young: Gets first NFL win

Young completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 15-13 win over the Texans.

Matched up against C.J. Stroud, the player taken immediately after him in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young came out on top in a tight defensive battle to get his first win as a pro. The Alabama product's 7.6 YPA was his best mark of the season, and Young's 40-yard completion to Jonathan Mingo on Carolina's first drive of the second half was the longest of both rookies' careers. With his numbers slowly improving, Young could have value outside of two-QB formats in Week 9 against a Colts team that has been involved in high-scoring games in three straight weeks, including a 38-27 loss to the Saints on Sunday.

  • Zach Wilson QB | NO

Jets' Zach Wilson: Leads late comeback in OT win

Wilson completed 17 of 36 passes for 240 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 13-10 overtime win over the Giants. He added four rushing attempts for 25 yards and lost two fumbles.

Wilson fumbled on the opening drive, leading to a Giants field goal, and after the Jets lost their top two centers to injuries in the first half, his first exchange with third-stringer Xavier Newman led to a fumbled snap. In between those two Wilson fumbles, Breece Hall turned a checkdown into a 50-yard touchdown. The Jets started 0-for-12 on third down before Wilson finally converted a 3rd-and-11 with a 17-yard run just before the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter, but things looked bleak after that possession ended on a fourth-down sack. Wilson came alive after the Jets got the ball back with 24 seconds left in regulation, completing back-to-back 29-yard passes to set up a game-tying field goal before helping draw a 30-yard pass interference penalty to set up the game-winning field goal in overtime. It hasn't been pretty, but Wilson and the Jets have won three straight to improve to 4-3 heading into a Week 9 MNF visit from the Chargers.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

Patriots' Mac Jones: Pair of touchdowns in loss

Jones completed 19 of 29 passes for 161 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while also netting minus-2 yards on his only carry in the Patriots' 31-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.

Jones struggled to generate much production downfield, leading to a modest 5.6 yards per attempt for the third-year pro. Jones was able to produce his second straight two-touchdown performance and third multi-score tally of the season by hitting Kendrick Bourne (knee) and JuJu Smith-Schuster for touchdown passes of 24 and three yards, respectively. However, he also failed to reach the 200-yard mark for the third time this season, certainly not a recipe for success when facing the Dolphins' high-octane air attack. Jones and the Patriots next welcome in the Commanders for a Week 9 interconference battle.

  • Dak Prescott QB | DAL

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Four touchdowns, tops 300 yards

Prescott completed 25 of 31 passes for 304 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 43-20 win over the Rams.

The Cowboys came out with an aggressive game plan, as Prescott had three touchdowns and 225 yards at halftime. His scores came from 18, 10, 22 and 25 yards away and were distributed to three different pass catchers. Prescott also completed five passes of more than 20 yards -- his highest mark of the year -- leading to his first 300-yard passing performance of the campaign. He and the Cowboys will look to continue their offensive heroics in an intra-division showdown with the Eagles in Week 9.

  • C.J. Stroud QB | HOU

Texans' C.J. Stroud: Disappointing numbers in loss

Stroud completed 16 of 24 passes for 140 yards in Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Panthers. He added 13 rushing yards and a touchdown on two carries.

The 140 passing yards were a season low for Stroud, while this was the first time he'd failed to toss a TD since his Week 1 NFL debut. The second overall pick in this year's draft has seen his yardage total decline in three straight games, suggesting the league's defensive coordinators might be developing a book on the young QB, but Stroud could bounce back in Week 9 against a Buccaneers defense that had given up the third-most passing yards in the league coming into Sunday.

  • Taysom Hill QB | NO

Saints' Taysom Hill: Season-best outing in win

Hill logged nine carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns to go along with one catch (on one target) for 14 yards in Sunday's 38-27 defeat versus the Colts. He also completed one of two passes for 44 yards.

Hill logged multiple touchdowns for the first time this year as the Saints offense scored a season-high 38 points. The 33-year-old was heavily involved in the offense despite practicing with a non-contact jersey due to a chest issue heading into Sunday's game. He even hit season highs in passing yards and total yards, and he totaled 10 touches for the second time in the last three games. Hill also finished with a team high in rushing yards ahead of bell-cow back Alvin Kamara (59), and Hill has effectively served as the Saints' No. 2 rushing option when both players have been available this season. His extremely unique swiss-army-knife-style role in this offense should help him accumulate semi-noteworthy fantasy production moving forward.

  • Sam Howell QB | DAL

Commanders' Sam Howell: Standout numbers in defeat

Howell completed 39 of 52 passes for 397 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in the Commanders' 38-31 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. He also rushed three times for 11 yards and committed a fumble that was recovered by Washington.

Howell enjoyed a career-best day in defeat, with both his yardage and touchdown totals serving as new single-game highs for the second-year signal-caller. Howell impressively spread the ball around to nine different targets, connecting with Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Logan Thomas and Jamison Crowder for touchdown tosses of 26, 21, seven and 26 yards, respectively. However, Howell was unable to keep up with Jalen Hurts and his air attack in the fourth quarter, when Philadelphia outscored Washington by a 21-14 margin. The sophomore quarterback nevertheless should draw plenty of confidence from nearly knocking off the defending NFC champions for a second time this season and will next face the Patriots on the road in a Week 9 matchup.

  • Tommy DeVito QB | NE

Giants' Tommy DeVito: Barely throws after Taylor injury

DeVito completed two of seven passes for minus-1 yard while rushing four times for 12 yards and a touchdown after replacing Tyrod Taylor (ribs) in Sunday's 13-10 overtime loss to the Jets.

DeVito was thrust into action after Taylor exited in the second quarter. The undrafted rookie out of Illinois led an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to open the third quarter on which he didn't complete a pass, as a pair of unnecessary roughness penalties on the defense put DeVito in position to run in a go-ahead, six-yard touchdown. In fact, DeVito's first completion didn't come until overtime with the Giants employing a run-heavy approach in hopes of running out the clock before the Jets could tie the game. Daniel Jones (neck) hasn't suited up since Week 5, and if neither Jones nor Taylor are able to play in Week 9 against the Raiders, DeVito could be called upon to make his first NFL start.
