Murray (ankle) wasn't on the field for the open portion of Friday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Unless Murray fits in some work on the field in the closed portion of Friday's session, he won't have practiced in any capacity throughout the week. While a lack of practice activity Wednesday through Friday typically results in a player being ruled out for game day, head coach Kliff Kingsbury previously said that Murray doesn't necessarily need to practice in order to play. The Cardinals will provide Murray with an official Week 9 designation following Friday's practice, but even if he gets listed as questionable rather than doubtful, the 24-year-old likely profiles as a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's game in San Francisco, which kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET. Colt McCoy has taken all the reps with the Arizona offense this week and would be in line to pick up the start if Murray is sidelined for the first time in his career.

Coach Brian Flores said Friday that Tagovailoa (ribs) is dealing with some swelling in a finger his left (throwing) hand. but the coach is optimistic the signal-caller will play Sunday versus the Texans, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Tagovailoa apparently suffered the finger injury on his throwing hand during last week's loss to the Bills, but it isn't expected to affect his availability for Week 9. The 23-year-old was able to practice as a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday as he also continues to recover from the fractured ribs that sidelined him from Weeks 3 through 5. Tagovailoa may receive the questionable tag for Sunday, though he appears on track to play barring a setback.

Siemian is expected to start Sunday's game against the Falcons over Taysom Hill (concussion), Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Siemian played well in the aftermath of Winston's ACL tear last week, completing 16 of 19 passes for one touchdown while leading the Saints to a victory over the Buccaneers. Hill is attempting to return from a concussion and hasn't seen game action since Week 5, which may have played a role in the team's decision at quarterback for Week 9.

Johnson entered the Jets' 45-30 loss to the Colts on Thursday night for Mike White (forearm) with 13:24 remaining in the second quarter and completed 27 of 41 passes for 317 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed four times for 18 yards.

Johnson's highly circuitous career took yet another interesting twist Thursday night with a surprisingly productive showing in relief. The veteran was able to lead three scoring drives on consecutive possessions in the second half, finding Elijah Moore, Ty Johnson and Ryan Griffin for his trio of touchdown tosses. Johnson appeared to be on the verge of authoring yet another successful march when a batted pass led to an interception at the Colts' seven-yard line with 45 seconds remaining. Zach Wilson (knee) could have a chance to play in the Week 10 matchup against the Bills a week from Sunday, but if neither the first-round pick nor White are ready for that contest, Johnson would presumably be in line for a spot start.

White (forearm) is expected to return to practice and to be available for the Jets' Week 10 matchup against Buffalo, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

White suffered the injury during the Jets' first offensive possession of Thursday's loss to the Colts. He was evaluated by the medical staff and was seen attempting throws on the sideline, but he was unable to return after struggling to grip the ball well. However, it sounds as if he avoided serious injury, and he may be healthy enough to be active for the team's next game in 10 days. However, his status as the team's starter will depend on whether Zach Wilson (ankle) is able to return.

White is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Colts due to a right forearm injury.

White led the Jets' offense to a touchdown on the team's first offensive possession, but he suffered an injury while following through on a throw. He was evaluated in the medical tent for a lengthy period and attempted to warm up on the sideline but was unable to grip the ball comfortably. Josh Johnson has taken over at quarterback in his absence.

Stafford (back) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.

During the media-access portion of the session, Stafford didn't join the Rams' other quarterbacks for throwing, and the result was a second DNP in a row. Coach Sean McVay seems to be taking Week 9 prep easy on Stafford as the QB deals with a sore back. While Stafford may not get on the field Friday, either, he doesn't appear to be in danger of missing Sunday Night Football against the Titans. L.A.'s final injury report of the week may reveal as much.

Murray wasn't present at the portion of the session open to the media, indicating another DNP was likely for the third-year quarterback as he recovers from a medial left ankle sprain from Week 8. Indeed, the preceding has come to pass, and he'll have just one more chance to fit in some on-field work before the Cardinals determine designations for a Week 9 visit to San Francisco. In the end, he may end up being a game-time call for Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, with Colt McCoy in line to direct Arizona's offense if Murray is unable to suit up.

Herbert (right hand) practiced fully Thursday.

Herbert was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday, but his return to a full session Thursday paves the way for him to start Sunday's game against the 3-5 Eagles. He'll look to rebound from back-to-back subpar efforts in consecutive losses to the Ravens and Patriots. Prior to that, Herbert had recorded an 11:0 TD:INT in his three previous games (all wins).

Siemian and Taysom Hill (concussion) are the candidates to start in place of Jameis Winston (knee) on Sunday against the Falcons and beyond, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.

Following Winston's season-ending ACL tear, the Saints will move forward with a new starting quarterback, but a decision has yet to be made. Hill returned to practice this week for the first time since suffering a concussion back in Week 5, being limited Wednesday before logging every practice rep Thursday. But it's likely that Hill hasn't been cleared to play via an independent neurologist, which also may be holding up an announcement from coach Sean Payton. If Siemian ultimately ends up getting the call this weekend, he'll be doing so after stepping in for Winston this past Sunday and leading the Saints to victory over the Bucs en route to 16-for-29 passing for 159 yards and one touchdown.
