Dustin Hopkins K | CLE
Dustin Hopkins: Cut by Cleveland
The Browns released Hopkins on Tuesday, Kelsey Russo of the team's official site reports.
Hopkins logged the worst season of his NFL career with Cleveland in 2024, converting just 18 of 27 field-goal attempts (67 percent) and 17 of 20 extra-point tries across 16 regular-season appearances. The team will instead opt to keep Andre Szmyt while potentially adding further competition at the kicker spot. Hopkins will search for an opportunity elsewhere as he enters his age-35 season.

Lenny Krieg K | ATL
Lenny Krieg: Cut by Atlanta
The Falcons waived Krieg on Tuesday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Krieg was unable to push Younghoe Koo for the kicking job in Atlanta. Krieg made his lone extra-point try and just one of his two field-goal attempts during the preseason.

Andres Borregales K | NE
Patriots' Andres Borregales: Wins kicking competition
The Patriots are releasing John Parker Romo, leaving Borregales as the lone kicker on their roster, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports.
Drafted in the sixth round this spring, Borregales made three of five field-goal attempts and all six of his PATs this preseason, with misses coming from 57 and 49 yards out. He was the starting kicker the past four seasons at the University of Miami, where he converted 74 of 86 field-goal attempts (86.0 percent) and 183 of 184 PATs. Borregales could be useful as a streamer this season, but he'll rightfully go undrafted in most fantasy leagues, as there are plenty of other kickers who have more experience and/or play for teams that are projected to be more productive than the Patriots.

John Parker Romo K | NE
John Parker Romo: Cut loose by Pats
The Patriots are releasing Romo, leaving Andres Borregales as the lone kicker on their roster, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports.
The 28-year-old Romo has spent time with a number of NFL team but appeared in just four regular-season games, all for Minnesota last season. He made 11 of 12 field-goal attempts and seven of eight PATs for the Vikings, but reports from New England's beat writers hinted at Borregales being in the lead for the kicking job throughout the preseason, especially given that the organization used a sixth-round pick in 2025 to acquire him.

Ryan Fitzgerald K | CAR
Panthers' Ryan Fitzgerald: Wins Carolina's kicking job
Fitzgerald is in line to start the 2025 regular season as the Panthers' kicker, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Fitzgerald was in a battle with Matthew Wright for the placekicking job in Carolina, and after Wright was released Monday, it now belongs to Fitzgerald. Over his last two seasons at Florida State, Fitzgerald made 32 of 34 field-goal tries and all 72 extra-point attempts.

Ben Sauls K | PIT
Ben Sauls: Cut by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Sauls on Monday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
With Chris Boswell sitting out while seeking a contract extension, Sauls handled the kicking duties in all three of the Steelers' preseason games, going 5-for-6 on field-goal attempts while making all six of his extra-point tries. Boswell will remain on the Steelers' roster as the team's starting kicker, but Saul should get an opportunity to compete on another team whose kicking situation is less solidified.

Matthew Wright K | CAR
Matthew Wright: Released by Carolina
Wright was released by the Panthers on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official website reports.
Wright signed with the Panthers in February and competed with rookie Ryan Fitzgerald for the team's starting kicker role at training camp, ultimately losing the battle. Wright missed his lone field-goal attempt, while also adding a PAT over two preseason games with Carolina. The kicker has appeared in at least one regular-season contest in five consecutive seasons, so he'll likely find another opportunity elsewhere in 2025.

Jason Sanders K | MIA
Dolphins' Jason Sanders: Not expected to play Week 1
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Sanders (hip) is not expected to be available for Week 1 against the Colts, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
McDaniel said the opposite over the weekend, though it's not believed to be a season-ending injury, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday that Sanders will be sidelined 4-to-5 weeks.. Without another kicker on the roster, Miami will need to add one before facing Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Dustin Hopkins K | CLE
Browns' Dustin Hopkins: Misses XPA in preseason finale
Hopkins converted a 28-yard field goal and missed one of two extra-point kicks in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
Hopkins, who was on shaky ground following his performance in 2024, may have left enough doubt in the mind of decision-makers when he was wide left on an XPA. Organizational confidence was already low on Hopkins, who watched his competitor for the job, Andre Szmyt, convert a game-winning kick from 37 yards out with no time left on the clock. The projection for an initial 53-man roster from Zac Jackson of The Athletic gives the edge to Szmyt, although it should be noted he's never kicked in a regular-season NFL game.

Andre Szmyt K | CLE
Browns' Andre Szmyt: Boots game-winning kick
Szmyt converted his lone field-goal attempt from 37 yards in Saturday's 19-17 preseason win over the Rams.
Szmyt calmly drilled his kick through the middle of the goal posts with no time left on the clock. It finished a perfect preseason for Szmyt, who was successful on all three FGA and one XPA. Meanwhile, Dustin Hopkins converted from 28 yards out and was wide left on his lone extra-point try, his second missed XPA in preseason work. A 53-man roster projection from Zac Jackson of The Athletic pegs Szmyt over Hopkins for the placekicking job, but that comes with the caveat that Szmyt has never kicked in a regular-season NFL game. However, he did post an impressive 90.5 percent success rate (19-for-21) on field goals for the UFL's St. Louis Battlehawks this past spring, a sample that included a 4-for-5 tally on attempts from 50+ yards.
