  • Bailey recorded seven tackles (five solo), including 3.0 sacks, during the Jets' 17-12 win over the Browns on Sunday. The Browns' offensive line had trouble containing Bailey and the Jets' pass rush Sunday, with New York sacking Deshaun Watson eight times. Three of those sacks were credited to Bailey, two of which were on third down and forced the Browns to punt on the next play. Week 5 was the performance that the Jets were hoping to see out of the second-overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft. Bailey is up to 5.0 sacks through five regular-season games, which leads the Jets and is tied with DJ Wonnum for fourth-most in the NFL behind Will Anderson (7.5), Greg Rousseau (6.0) and Dallas Turner (5.5).

  • Bailey (ankle) was cleared to participate in Tuesday's training camp practice, Ralph Vacchiano of FoxSports.com reports. Bailey was considered day-to-day due to an ankle injury that he picked up during Sunday's practice. The injury wasn't a serious one, and with the rookie first-rounder back on the field Tuesday, it puts him on track to be available for Friday's preseason game against the Buccaneers.

  • Jets' David Bailey: Lands with Jets
    • By RotoWire

The Jets selected Bailey in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, second overall. Bailey (6-foot-4, 251 pounds) was a standout starter for all four of his collegiate seasons - three at Stanford and one at Texas Tech - but his one season at Texas Tech was particularly memorable. Bailey was dominant for his own part, logging 14.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss, and his efforts spearheaded a historically dominant Red Raiders defense as a unit, allowing just 11.8 points per game. With a 4.50-second 40 at the combine to go with a 129-inch broad jump, Bailey confirmed he has blue-chip athleticism to go along with his strong history of production. It would be disappointing if the Jets' new defender isn't one of the league's standout pass rushers within the next two years.
