Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared that Mahomes had been "cleared to participate fully" to begin training camp, and seeing the 30-year-old signal-caller now taking part in team drills affirms his tremendous recovery progress. That said, it still remains to be seen whether Mahomes has been cleared for game action, be that in the preseason or Week 1 against the Broncos on Monday, Sept. 14. Mahomes has stated that his aim is to be ready for the start of the regular season.

  Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Friday that Mahomes (knee) has "been cleared to participate fully" to begin training camp, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports. Reid said Mahomes has been cleared to "do all the different periods that we have in this camp." The star quarterback has said all offseason that his aim is to be ready for Kansas City's regular-season opener against the Broncos on Monday, Sept. 14, and it appears he's well on track for that goal. Mahomes was held out of full-team drills during offseason workouts while recovering from the torn ACL and LCL he suffered in Week 15 of last season, so it's highly encouraging that he's ready to handle all team activities to kick off training camp. Mahomes said he is "preparing" as though he will be given the green light to play in the preseason, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports.

  Mahomes (knee) continues to aim to be ready for the Chiefs' regular-season opener against the Broncos on Monday, Sept. 14, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. "That's my goal," Mahomes noted Wednesday during an interview with Yahoo Sports. "I've said that since the beginning is being ready to go Week 1. I can't predict the future, and I know that it's a long process. It's not just my decision, but at the same time I'm going to give the doctors and the coaches every single opportunity I can to let me be out there Week 1." With that in mind, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com relayed last month that coach Andy Reid said Mahomes (knee) should "be able to do some things in camp," with added context on that front set to arrive after the Chiefs' veterans report on July 28. Mahomes -- who is bouncing back from a torn ACL and LCL suffered Week 15 of last season -- participated in offseason workouts but was held out of full-team drills.

  Mahomes (knee) participated in Kansas City's opening OTA practice Tuesday, Nate Taylor of ESPN reports. While the extent of his participation wasn't revealed, a video was posted on social media of the QB making a throw on the field while sporting a brace on his left knee. Mahomes is bouncing back from December surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL, and his participation in Tuesday's session, in any capacity, is encouraging. The two-time MVP's stated goal is to be ready for Week 1 action, and in recent weeks Kansas City has expressed optimism that Mahomes will be in uniform Sept. 14 against the Broncos.
