  Garrett (knee) did not participate in Monday's training camp practice, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Garrett has been held out of practice for the last couple of weeks while recovering from swelling in his knee. He's unlikely to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Chargers, but he still has time to progress enough in his recovery to be cleared to play Week 1 against the 49ers on Thursday, Sept. 10.

  Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Garrett may not participate in practice this week, Greg Beacham of the Associated Press reports. Garrett sat out last Tuesday's joint practice with the Cowboys due to swelling in his knee, and while he was spotted working on the side Thursday, he was a DNP for this past Saturday's preseason contest at Kansas City. The Rams will continue to take a cautious approach with their biggest offseason prize to ensure he's as healthy as possible for a Week 1 matchup with the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia on Thursday, Sept. 10.

  Coach Sean McVay said after Tuesday's joint practice with the Cowboys that Garrett didn't take part due to swelling in his knee, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports. Garrett missed some time early in training camp due to what McVay called "soreness in his lower half," per Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com, and the location of the injury is now known. McVay added Tuesday that Garrett is "85 percent." Garrett still has a month to get back to full health before the Rams' Week 1 matchup with the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia.

  Garrett (lower body) participated in the Rams' training camp Wednesday, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports. Garrett made his return to the field after having been sidelined for the last several practice sessions due to a lower-body injury. The 2017 first-round pick was traded to Los Angeles from Cleveland earlier in the offseason and will look to bolster the Rams' pass rush during the upcoming campaign.

It sounds like there won't be much difference from Garrett's perspective, as most of the changes are intended to help the Rams with cap flexibility. He's entering the second season of a five-year, $204 million extension, coming off a 2025 campaign in which he somehow broke the single-season record for sacks (23.0) while playing for a five-win team. Garrett's new team came a few plays shy of the Super Bowl last season and now boasts arguably the strongest roster in the league.
