Head coach Rick Carlisle said Monday that he does not anticipate many limitations for Haliburton to start the season, though he noted the team will go at "the correct pace," Alex Golden of SI.com reports. The star point guard sustained a torn Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, though he has been fully cleared to participate in training camp and should be available for the start of the regular season after missing the 2025-26 campaign. Carlisle added that Haliburton has gotten stronger, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Pacers manage his workload to start the campaign, especially in back-to-back sets.

The Pacers may opt to slowly bring Haliburton back up to speed as he aims to return from a torn Achilles suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, Jamal Collier of ESPN reports. Haliburton torched the nets in the opening quarter of Indiana's Game 7 loss to the Thunder in the Finals, though he tore his Achilles before the end of the frame. The star floor general resumed 5-on-5 work in early April and said in late June that he felt like he was operating like a "healthy NBA player," per Scott Agness of FieldhouseFiles.com. Although he's had plenty of time to recover since undergoing Achilles surgery, Haliburton may still need time to ramp up to a full workload after such a serious injury. The 26-year-old will look to return to form after averaging 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks while shooting 38.8 percent from three-point range in 33.6 minutes per tilt across 73 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.

Haliburton said Saturday that he feels "great," Scott Agness of FieldhouseFiles.com reports. "I feel great. Body feels great. I'm able to do everything," Haliburton said. "I feel like I'm operating like I'm a healthy NBA player -- for the first time in a long time, which is exciting." Haliburton missed the entire 2025-26 season after tearing his Achilles tendon seven minutes into Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, but he's been participating in 5-on-5 work since April and no longer appears to have any restrictions. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if the Pacers managed his workload early in training camp and the preseason.

Haliburton announced via his personal X account that he participated in 5-on-5 work Wednesday. Although Indiana's campaign is nearly over and it's been known since July that Haliburton would not suit up this season, this marks an important step in the star point guard's rehab. The 26-year-old suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in last year's Game 7 loss to the Thunder in the NBA Finals, and he'll hope to get back on the floor by Opening Night of the 2026-27 campaign.

Haliburton said Tuesday in his appearance on the "Mind the Game" podcast that he has resumed taking part in 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 work while he continues to recover from right Achilles surgery. Back in July, the Pacers ruled Haliburton out for the 2025-26 season shortly after the star point guard underwent surgery to address the Achilles tendon he tore in Indiana's loss to Oklahoma City in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. While the Pacers' stance with Haliburton doesn't appear to have changed amid a non-contending season, the 25-year-old is seemingly coming along even faster than anticipated during his rehab process. If Haliburton is able to advance to 5-on-5 work by the spring, he'll likely be in line for a relatively normal offseason and should be free of restrictions for the start of training camp next fall.
