Cavaliers' Dennis Schroder: Back healthy this summer
Schroder (illness) finished with 20 points (5-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), nine assists, three rebounds and two steals in 28 minutes during Germany's 92-86 win over Israel on Friday.
Schroder came down with an illness to close the postseason with the Cavaliers, but he's returned to play in FIBA action this summer. The veteran guard is set to reprise his role as Cleveland's top backup point guard in 2026-27, having averaged 10.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes across 70 regular-season games for the Cavs and Kings in 2025-26.

Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Agrees to four-year max extension
Mitchell agreed to a four-year, $273 million max contract extension with the Cavaliers on Tuesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
The deal includes a player option for 2030-31 and a full trade kicker. Along with trade-deadline acquisition James Harden, Mitchell led the Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference Finals last season before fizzling out against the Knicks, averaging 26.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals across 18 postseason contests. He could've waited until next summer to sign an even larger extension, but the veteran opted to commit early to a long-term deal, proving his loyalty to Cleveland.

Cavaliers' Thomas Bryant: Plans to re-sign with Cavaliers
Bryant intends to re-sign with the Cavaliers on a one-year deal, per Shams Charania of ESPN on Monday.
The journeyman center is set for his second season with Cleveland in 2026-27. Bryant averaged just 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 12.2 minutes per game over 60 regular-season appearances a year ago, offering the Cavs depth at the center position behind Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.

Cavaliers' James Harden: Declines option, plans to re-sign
Harden declined his $42.3 million player option for 2026-27 on Monday and is working on a new multi-year deal with the Cavaliers, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
After averaging 20.9 points, 6.2 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals through Cleveland's first 13 postseason games, Harden struggled mightily as the Cavaliers got swept by the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. While a disappointing end, it was still a successful postseason run for the new-look Cavaliers. Having Harden decline his option for a longer deal should lead to more guaranteed money for him while giving the team some much-needed financial flexibility.
