  • Pelicans' Trendon Watford: Signs with Pelicans

Watford agreed to a one-year deal with the Pelicans on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

The 76ers declined Watford's team option in June, but he's found a new home ahead of training camp. In New Orleans, Watford will likely provide some emergency depth in the frontcourt, and he may have a tough time carving out a consistent role.

  • Pelicans' Jeremiah Fears: Coming off strong campaign

Fears enjoyed an outstanding rookie season, appearing in all 82 regular-season games while averaging 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Fears capped the year by setting the franchise rookie scoring record with a 40-point performance and enters 2026-27 as one of New Orleans' most promising young guards. Even with Dejounte Murray expected back, Fears has positioned himself for a significant role in the Pelicans' backcourt rotation.

  • Pelicans' Derik Queen: Could see bigger role

Queen impressed during his rookie campaign despite missing time early in the season due to a wrist injury, flashing the versatile offensive skills that made him a lottery pick.

Queen posted several standout performances, including the first 30-point triple-double by a rookie center in NBA history. Queen should compete for an even larger frontcourt role in 2026-27 as one of New Orleans' top young building blocks.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Coming off inconsistent season

Poole provided New Orleans with an additional scoring threat initially during the 2025-26 campaign, but he would eventually fall out favor with the coaching staff.

Poole ended up making 39 regular-season appearances, shooting 37.2 percent from the field with 13.4 points, 3.1 assists and 2.0 rebounds. With Dejounte Murray (hand) expected to be back at full strength, Poole will face an uphill battle for playing time in 2026-27.

  • Pelicans' Trey Murphy: Another big season ahead

Murphy (ankle) continued his emergence as one of New Orleans' top offensive weapons before injuries interrupted another strong campaign.

Murphy's combination of three-point shooting, athleticism and secondary shot creation should once again make him a featured option alongside Zion Williamson. Murphy has averaged at least 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in back-to-back seasons, but he's made more than 66 regular-season appearances only once in his past five years.

  • Pelicans' Dejounte Murray: Key player for 2026-27

Murray (hand) remains a cornerstone of New Orleans' backcourt despite missing the first half of last season due to a torn Achilles tendon.

Murray's playing time was monitored closely after his delayed 2025-26 debut, and he missed the final games of the regular season due to a bruised hand. Assuming he's fully healthy entering training camp, Murray should reclaim a starting role and provide veteran leadership alongside the Pelicans' young guards. His ability to contribute across the board as a scorer, facilitator and defender gives him a chance to bounce back in 2026-27.

  • Pelicans' Yves Missi: Key reserve in 2025-26

Missi (hand) continued to play a meaningful role in New Orleans' frontcourt during his second NBA season, averaging 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 66 regular-season appearances.

The 22-year-old remains one of the Pelicans' top young interior defenders, and New Orleans has reportedly rebuffed trade interest from multiple teams this offseason, underscoring how highly the organization values him. Although he'll continue competing for frontcourt minutes alongside Derik Queen and DeAndre Jordan, Missi should remain an important part of the center rotation entering 2026-27.

  • Pelicans' Herbert Jones: To play similar role

Jones continues to provide New Orleans with elite perimeter defense and positional versatility, making him one of the NBA's premier role players.

While Jones' offensive responsibilities remain modest, his ability to contribute steals, blocks and efficient complementary production keeps him fantasy relevant. His role as the Pelicans' top defensive wing should remain unchanged heading into 2026-27.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Coming off productive season

Williamson (knee) bounced back with a productive campaign in 2025-26, reestablishing himself as the focal point of New Orleans' offense despite the team's 26-56 finish.

Williamson remains one of the league's most efficient interior scorers when healthy and should once again lead the Pelicans in usage entering 2026-27. With no major offseason additions threatening his role, Williamson is expected to remain the franchise centerpiece.

  • Pelicans' Caleb Houstan: Agrees to deal with Pelicans

Houstan agreed to a one-year contract with New Orleans on Monday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.

Houstan was drafted in the second round in the 2022 NBA Draft by Orlando, where he spent most of his career. He appeared in 168 regular-season games with the Magic, averaging 4.1 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 37.2 percent from deep across 14.4 minutes. Houstan played in Atlanta during the 2025-26 campaign, though he didn't last long, suiting up for only 18 regular-season contests. The 23-year-old will compete for the final roster spot, so his contract is presumably non-guaranteed. However, even if Houstan manages to earn a place on the roster, he will be on the bench more often than not, likely entering games when the Pelicans need a reliable three-point shooter.

  • Pelicans' Christian Koloko: Signing with New Orleans

Koloko agreed a one-year contract with the Pelicans on Tuesday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.

The journeyman center is set to compete for one of New Orleans' final roster spots during training camp in the fall. The Pelicans feature a crowded frontcourt, which could make it difficult for Koloko to stick around with the team past camp.

  • Pelicans' Kobe Bufkin: Inks pact with New Orleans

Bufkin agreed to a training camp contract with the Pelicans on Saturday, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.

After averaging 21.3 points per game across three Summer League outings with the Pelicans, Bufkin is joining New Orleans for training camp and will compete for a spot on the regular-season roster. The 22-year-old guard appeared in 16 regular-season games (one start) with the Lakers in 2025-26, averaging 2.9 points in 7.4 minutes per tilt.

  • Pelicans' Dominique Daniels: Scores 25 points with two steals

Daniels contributed 25 points (8-19 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Saturday's 91-73 Las Vegas Summer League loss to the Pacers.

Daniels bounced back nicely after managing just six points on 3-of-13 shooting in his previous outing, closing out Summer League with a much stronger offensive performance. His play Saturday should improve his chance of earning a training camp invite.

  • Pelicans' Markquis Nowell: Dishes out six assists in SL loss

Nowell notched 14 points (4-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six assists, two steals and one rebound across 31 minutes in Saturday's 91-73 Summer League loss to the Pacers.

Nowell wasn't very efficient but still finished as the Pelicans' second-leading scorer. Additionally, the 26-year-old point guard dished out a team-high six assists. He reached the 20-point mark in two of his five Las Vegas Summer League appearances, reaching double figures in three of those outings.

  • Pelicans' Micah Peavy: Remains sidelined Saturday

Peavy (rest) didn't play in Saturday's 91-73 Summer League loss to the Pacers.

Peavy sat out the Pelicans' Summer League finale, marking his third straight game on the sidelines. The 25-year-old forward averaged 4.3 points in 15.0 minutes per game across 61 regular-season appearances (four starts) in his rookie campaign, and he'll likely continue playing a relatively consistent role off the bench in 2026-27.

  • Pelicans' Micah Peavy: Doesn't play Wednesday

Peavy (not injury related) did not appear in Wednesday's 82-77 Summer League loss to the Cavaliers.

Peavy isn't dealing with an injury, but the Pelicans have kept him out of the past two games to provide other players with opportunities. The remainder of New Orleans' Summer League schedule has yet to be finalized, though the club is expected to play its next game Saturday against an opponent yet to be announced. It remains to be seen whether Peavy will return to action for that contest.

  • Pelicans' Markquis Nowell: Team-high 20 points in SL loss

Nowell recorded 20 points (3-13 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 6-7 FT), two rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block over 24 minutes during Wednesday's Summer League loss to the Cavaliers.

Nowell was inefficient from the field in Wednesday's loss, but he made up for it at the charity stripe to lead the Pelicans in scoring. The Kansas State product last saw NBA regular-season action in 2023-24 with the Raptors, playing in just one game. He's spent the last couple of seasons in the G League but is using the Summer League to showcase his talents in the hopes of catching on with an NBA team for training camp.

  • Pelicans' Christian Shumate: Solid output Wednesday

Shumate had eight points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block across 29 minutes in Wednesday's 82-77 Summer League loss to the Cavaliers.

Shumate hadn't logged more than 11 minutes or scored more than three points in any of his previous three Summer League appearances this season, so he took a big step forward here. The former McNeese standout spent the majority of the 2025-26 season playing for the Birmingham Squadron in the G League.

... See More ... See Less
  • Pelicans' Kobe Bufkin: Rough shooting effort Sunday

Bufkin finished with 15 points (4-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block across 28 minutes in Sunday's 81-75 Summer League win over the Suns.

Bufkin's 15 points were his fewest so far in his three Summer League appearances. He also wasn't efficient shooting the ball, and his five turnovers nearly tied the rest of the Pelicans' starters combined. The 2023 No. 15 overall pick spent his first two seasons with the Hawks before suiting up for the Lakers during the 2025-26 campaign. In 43 career regular-season games between Atlanta and Los Angeles, he's averaged 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.2 blocks and 0.3 steals over 10.4 minutes per contest. Bufkin may earn an opportunity with another NBA club at some point moving ahead, though he will need to improve his three-point shooting. Durability has also been an issue.
