  • Lucas Erceg RP | KC

Royals' Lucas Erceg: Cleans up mess for save

Erceg retired both batters he faced to earn the save in Wednesday's 13-9 win over the Twins.

Bailey Falter took the mound for the ninth inning when the Royals were ahead by seven runs, but he made a mess of the low-leverage spot. Erceg came in with two on and one out and worked out of trouble for his second save of the season. The right-hander is a must-have in fantasy after Carlos Estevez (foot) landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Working primarily as a setup man in 2025, Erceg pitched to a 2.64 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 48:18 K:BB while adding two saves and 23 holds over 61.1 innings. He's shown better strikeout stuff than that in previous years, and if he pitches well in Estevez's absence, Erceg could keep the closer role for most of the season. He already has two saves and a hold over three appearances.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Strong in season debut

Cameron (1-0) allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings to earn the win over the Twins on Wednesday.

Cameron's season debut was a positive one, as he was able to limit the damage to a Brooks Lee RBI single in the fifth inning. Cameron made a strong first impression in 2025, starting 24 regular-season games and pitching to a 2.99 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 114:43 K:BB over 138.1 innings. Walks and long balls will be something to keep an eye on in his second big-league campaign, as he gave up 18 homers last season and plenty more loud contact that didn't get over the fence. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Cleveland, which could be the first outing of a two-start week for Cameron.

  • Andy Pages CF | LAD

Dodgers' Andy Pages: Perfect at plate Wednesday

Pages went 3-for-3 with a double in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Guardians.

Pages did his part from the No. 8 spot in the lineup, but he accounted for more than half of the Dodgers' five hits. Many of the team's regulars have gotten off to slow starts so far, but Pages is already locked in at the plate, batting .429 (9-for-21) with a home run, five RBI, one run scored and no stolen bases over six contests. He should continue to see the vast majority of the playing time in center field, especially if he keeps his strikeouts down -- he's struck out just twice in 21 plate appearances so far.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Launches first homer

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Guardians.

Freeman has had a slow start to the season, going 5-for-24 (.208) over his first six games. He's logged an extra-base hit in two of his last four contests, including his ninth-inning homer Wednesday to keep the Dodgers from getting shut out. The first baseman has added three RBI. The slow start among the Dodgers' top hitters is a little concerning, but the defending champions should be fine in the long run, and Freeman's move down to the cleanup spot versus right-handed pitchers should benefit his run production this year.

  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Loses pitching duel

Yamamoto (1-1) allowed two runs on four hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch while striking out two over six innings to take the loss versus the Guardians on Wednesday.

Yamamoto was outdueled by Gavin Williams, who struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings. Yamamoto's missteps came in the third inning, as Daniel Schneemann doubled, stole third and scored on an errant throw before Gabriel Arias went yard for a solo home run. This was still a second straight quality start for Yamamoto, who has allowed four runs on nine hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over 12 innings in his first two outings of the season. The star right-hander allowed just 14 home runs over 173.2 regular-season innings across 30 starts last season, so he should be able to get that under control after giving up a long ball in each of his starts in 2026. The Dodgers are using a six-man rotation for the week ahead, but with extra rest built in for Shohei Ohtani, Yamamoto is tentatively projected to make his next start in Toronto.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Records steal in win

Schneemann went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Schneemann has gone just 4-for-18 (.222) over six games this season, but three of his hits have been doubles. He made an impact with his legs after getting aboard, stealing third base and scoring after Will Smith's throw to third was errant. The steal was Schneemann's first of the year -- he had nine over 422 plate appearances in the 2025 regular season. Schneemann has made three starts in center field and one each at second and third so far, so he is likely to play regularly in a utility role. His playing time will probably come in the outfield while the Guardians deal with the absence of Chase DeLauter (foot).

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Leaves yard in win

Arias went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Arias has had a slow start to the season, but he was able to take Yoshinobu Yamamoto deep in the third inning for his first extra-base hit of the year. Arias has racked up nine strikeouts and just one walk over 20 plate appearances so far, which contributes to him hitting a meager .105 (2-for-19). Despite the struggles, he's holding down a regular role at shortstop for now, but he will need to do better with the bat to maintain his playing time.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Clubs first homer of season

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Ramirez is still looking for his first multi-hit effort of the campaign, but he was able to swat his first homer to give the Guardians some breathing room in the eighth inning. The third baseman has added two doubles, five RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored over seven games this season. Ramirez is hitting just .143 so far, but he's faced strong pitching staffs in the first two series of Cleveland's season. It shouldn't be long before he locks in as a well-rounded force at the plate and on the basepaths.

  • Gavin Williams SP | CLE

Guardians' Gavin Williams: Dominant in win over Dodgers

Williams (1-1) allowed two hits and three walks while striking out 10 over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Williams looks to have corrected the mechanical issue that led to him walking six batters in his season debut versus the Mariners. The right-hander was excellent in this contest, though he's unlikely to ever be an elite control pitcher. That didn't get in his way in 2025, and he's now given up a modest three runs over 12 innings while posting a 17:9 K:BB through his first two starts of 2026. Williams is projected to make his next start at home versus the Royals next week.

  • Griffin Jax RP | TB

Rays' Griffin Jax: Woes continue to open 2026

Jax (0-2) took the loss Wednesday versus the Brewers, giving up five runs (three earned) on three hits and one walk. He failed to record an out.

The right-hander was summoned in the eighth inning of a tie game Wednesday, but he was unable to keep it knotted up. A fielding error by Junior Caminero prevented two of Jax's runs from being earned, but the hurler's struggles to begin the season continue to be concerning. Jax has now yielded five earned runs over two innings (four appearances), failing to convert each of his two save chances, and it wouldn't be surprising if Garrett Cleavinger or Bryan Baker received Tampa Bay's next save opportunity while Jax searches for his form.
