Guerrero is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in St. Louis.

It's a rare day off for Guerrero, whose only other breather this season came back on April 10. The Blue Jays will go with Ernie Clement at first base Tuesday as Guerrero receives some well-deserved rest.

Yoshida (shoulder) said Tuesday that he's hoping to be ready for a rehab assignment by late June or early July, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Yoshida received a cortisone injection in early May and indicated Tuesday that he was given another one more recently as he recovers from lingering soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder. He's currently throwing out to 105 feet and feeling better. Yoshida played in some spring training games at designated hitter, but the Red Sox want him to be able to handle the outfield before he's activated from the 60-day injured list.

The Angels placed Taylor on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left hand fracture.

Taylor suffered the injury when he was struck by a pitch in Monday's win over the Athletics. It's an injury that is likely to keep him out beyond the minimum 10 days.

The Royals recalled Tolbert from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

He's taking the roster spot vacated by Michael Massey (ankle). Tolbert was used mainly as a pinch runner during an earlier stint in the majors this season and could be used in a similar fashion this time around.

The Royals placed Massey on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left ankle sprain.

It's not clear when or how Massey was injured, but his playing time had already been trending downward with just two starts over the Royals' last six contests. Tyler Tolbert is taking his roster spot.

Thomas is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Reds.

The Reds are sending left-hander Andrew Abbott to the bump, so this is likely more about easing Thomas back into action after he returned from the injured list Monday. Nolan Jones is in center field for the Guardians.

The White Sox designated Wilson for assignment Tuesday.

The transaction frees spots on the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster for right-hander Grant Taylor, who was promoted from Double-A Birmingham. Wilson has collected an uninspiring 6.95 ERA and 27:19 K:BB over five starts and 14 relief appearances this season with the Pale Hose.

The White Sox selected Taylor's contract from Double-A Birmingham on Tuesday.

The move was first reported Monday and has now been made official. Taylor had spun 9.1 scoreless innings with an 18:1 K:BB over his last nine appearances after being shifted to the bullpen at Birmingham. The 23-year-old has the look of a future closer, and the ninth inning for the White Sox is wide open. However, Taylor is likely to be eased into high-leverage spots.

Rodriguez (1-0) was charged with his first blown save of the season but recorded the win in Monday's extra-inning victory against the Cardinals, giving up two runs on two hits in 1.1 innings. He struck out two.

He entered the game in the eighth inning with the bases loaded to protect a 3-0 lead, but Rodriguez promptly gave up an RBI single to Willson Contreras before serving up a three-run blast to Ivan Herrera. The right-hander stuck around to work a scoreless inning after the Jays tied it in the ninth, and was the pitcher to record when they pushed across the winning run in the 10th. It's the first time Rodriguez has been tagged with an earned run since May 4, and the first time he's been taken deep since April 30, a stingy stretch that has him sporting a 3.06 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 32.1 innings on the season with eight holds.

The Orioles optioned Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was out of the lineup for each of Baltimore's past three games, and he'll head to the minors Tuesday with Cedric Mullins (hamstring) making his return from the injured list. The Orioles have dealt with a number of injuries in the outfield early this season, but Kjerstad was unable to take advantage with a .192/.240/.327 slash line in 167 plate appearances.
