Brandon Walter RP | HOU
Astros' Brandon Walter: With team on taxi squad
Walter is in Cleveland on Saturday and will be part of the Astros' taxi squad Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Walter's presence indicates that the 28-year-old southpaw could start in Sunday's series finale against the Guardians, per Kawahara. Walter has a 3-1 record across 11 games (seven starts) with Triple-A Sugar Land this season and holds a 2.08 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 49:7 K:BB across 47.2 innings. Justin Verlander SP | DET
Giants' Justin Verlander: Completes sim game
Verlander (pectoral) threw 35-to-40 pitches in a simulated game at Oracle Park on Friday and will be re-evaluated Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Verlander was placed on the 15-day injured list May 22 due to a right pec strain. The veteran right-hander tossed two simulated innings Friday, facing batters for the first time since suffering the injury. The Giants will evaluate how the 42-year-old responds Saturday before determining his next steps. George Kirby SP | SEA
Mariners' George Kirby: In clear to start Sunday
Kirby (jaw) is listed as the Mariners' probable starter for Sunday's game against the Angels in Anaheim.
In his most recent start Tuesday against the Orioles, Kirby covered five innings but was struck in his hand and then his jaw while knocking down a line drive off the bat of Ramon Urias. Though Kirby didn't return to the contest after retiring Urias on the play, the right-hander's exit likely had more to do with the fact that he had already tossed 95 pitches. Mariners manager Dan Wilson confirmed after the game that he expected Kirby to be fine, and the 27-year-old seems to have made it through his between-starts bullpen session without incident. Kirby will head into Sunday's contest with an 0-3 record, 8.56 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB in three starts since making his return from the injured list May 22.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Tigers' Alex Cobb: Fans two in latest rehab start
Cobb (hip) allowed one unearned run and two walks while striking out two across 2.1 innings in Thursday's rehab start with High-A West Michigan.
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Friday that Cobb is feeling "incrementally better -- and by that, I think [Cobb] means no worse," per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com. Cobb has been on the 15-day injured list since the start of the season due to right hip inflammation. He'll throw another bullpen session in a couple of days before his next rehab start, and he'll need to build up his pitch count through multiple outings before being reinstated from the IL.

Sean Manaea RP | NYM
Mets' Sean Manaea: Tough outing in first rehab start
Manaea (oblique) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits while striking out two in 1.2 innings during his rehab start with High-A Brooklyn on Friday, John Sparaco of SI.com reports.
Manaea was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment after starting the season on the injured list due to a right oblique strain that he suffered in spring training. The 33-year-old southpaw ended up tossing 36 pitches in what was an underwhelming outing, but it's a step in the right direction as far as his rehab program goes. Manaea will need several rehab starts without setbacks before being cleared to return to the major-league roster.
