Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Cole (elbow) will be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic reported Sunday that it's been recommended to Cole that he undergo Tommy John surgery but that the pitcher would seek a second opinion, and it appears that opinion will come from Dr. ElAttrache. More clarity on Cole's situation could be available later Monday.

The Athletics reassigned Alexander to minor-league camp Monday.

Alexander covered 71.2 innings in the big leagues with the Brewers in 2022, but he's pitched exclusively in the minors over the past two seasons and will likely function as organizational pitching depth for the Athletics in 2025. The 32-year-old right-hander is likely to be included in the Triple-A Las Vegas rotation after he turned in a 4.42 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 138.1 innings at the Triple-A level with the Red Sox's affiliate in 2024.

The Athletics optioned Cusick to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Cusick was one of 13 players the Athletics reassigned or optioned to minor-league camp Monday in the club's latest round of roster cuts. The Athletics added the 25-year-old right-hander to their 40-man roster in November following a 2024 season in which he compiled a 4.66 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 66:40 K:BB over 63.2 innings across three minor-league stops. Cusick made 28 of his 31 appearances at Double-A Midland in 2024, but he should see the bulk of his innings with Las Vegas during the upcoming season.

Carrasco is likely sixth on the Yankees' starting-pitcher depth chart due to injuries to Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Luis Gil (lat), Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

Carrasco is in camp as a non-roster invitee and initially seemed to be a longshot to open the regular season with the Yankees, but his signing has taken on more importance since both Cole and Gil are expected to miss significant time due to their injuries. Marcus Stroman and Will Warren are the most likely candidates to fill the vacated rotation spots at the start of the season, which would leave Carrasco as the next man up should another injury occur or should New York need a spot starter at some point. Carrasco isn't currently on the 40-man roster, and he'd need to accept a minor-league assignment at the outset of the campaign if he doesn't break camp with the big club. The veteran righty has struggled mightily with a 6.18 ERA (5.36 FIP) over 193.2 regular-season innings over the past two campaigns, but he's performed pretty well this spring, allowing two runs on four hits with a 6:5 K:BB over 7.2 frames.

The Brewers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez might not have made the Opening Day roster no matter how well he pitched this spring, but he didn't do himself any favors in getting touched up for eight runs over 4.2 frames in Cactus League action. The 23-year-old will represent rotation depth at Nashville.

The Brewers optioned Henderson to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Henderson has been excellent this spring, boasting an 8:1 K:BB over 5.2 scoreless innings. However, there's not room for him on the major-league roster at this point, so he'll join the Nashville rotation for now. Henderson has a chance to make some starts for the Brewers later on this season.

The Royals optioned Cameron to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

Cameron was added to the 40-man roster over the offseason and has had a solid showing this spring, allowing five runs (four earned) with a 7:1 K:BB over 10 innings. The left-hander is a good bet to make starts for the Royals at some point this season, but he'll begin the year in the Triple-A Omaha rotation.

Cortes gave up one earned run over 2.2 innings in Sunday's spring game. He allowed four hits, struck out two batters and walked one.

Cortes joined the Brewers over the offseason in the trade that sent Devin Williams to the Yankees, and he got into his first game with his new club Sunday. Cortes averaged under a strikeout per inning in 2024, but he posted a respectable 3.77 ERA over a career-best 174.1 regular-season innings, so expect him to occupy a rotation spot when the regular season gets underway.

Clevinger (neck) struck out two batters over a perfect inning of relief Sunday in the White Sox's 1-0 loss to the Guardians in Cactus League play.

Clevinger re-signed with the White Sox on a minor-league deal Feb. 21, but he didn't make his spring debut until Sunday while he completed his recovery from the disc replacement surgery he required for his neck back on Aug. 1. The 34-year-old righty retired the side in efficient fashion Sunday, needing just 11 pitches to complete a 1-2-3 inning. Clevinger has worked almost exclusively as a starter over parts of eight seasons in the big leagues, but he'll be vying for a late-inning relief role with Chicago while the organization prioritizes younger arms in the rotation.
