  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Another sim game coming

McCullers (forearm) will throw another simulated game Friday or Saturday, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McCullers tossed about 30 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday, but manager A.J. Hinch is not at the point where he feels confident setting a return date. "We're running out of schedule so we need to push him a little bit, but it will all depend on how things go this week," Hinch said. The manager said all of McCullers' pitches were back to normal, characterizing the session as a "good step forward." If this weekend's simulated game is as positive as Tuesday's, there's a chance the right-hander can return for the series in Toronto that kicks off Monday.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Rays' Blake Snell: Gets 20th win, 200th strikeout

Snell (20-5) allowed one hit in five scoreless innings in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday, striking out five and walking two.

Snell was stellar once again, earning his eighth consecutive win and his 20th win on the year. He becomes just the second Rays pitcher to tally 20 wins in a season (David Price won 20 games in 2012) and he's the only pitcher thus far to reach the mark in the majors this year. Snell also became just the 12th pitcher this year to break the 200-strikeout threshold, doing so in only 169 innings pitched. The left-hander's 1.97 ERA trails only Jacob deGrom (1.78) in the majors and his .179 batting average against leads all starting pitchers. His next start will be a matchup with the Blue Jays in Toronto this weekend.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Dealt 15th loss

Bundy (8-15) gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out six in 6.2 innings Tuesday against the Blue Jays. He took the loss.

This was the first start since June 23 where Bundy did not allow a home run -- a span of 13 starts. He lines up to start Sunday on the road against the Yankees and next Friday at home against the Astros before Baltimore's disappointing season comes to an end.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: No-decision in quality start

Eovaldi allowed two hits and two walks over six shutout innings during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Eovaldi pitched fantastic against the Yankees but was pulled at 83 pitches (52 strikes), only for the bullpen to allow three runs during the seventh inning. The 28-year-old worked beyond the fourth inning for the first time since Aug. 21 and now has a 3.98 ERA and 1.15 WHIP this season.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Throws simulated game

McCullers (forearm) threw a 30-pitch simulated game Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The workout was another positive step for McCullers, though he remains without a clear return date. He appears to be making progress to return before the playoffs start, especially as he's expected to return in a bullpen role and thus won't be required to build all the way back up to 100 or so pitches.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Orioles' Alex Cobb: Throws off mound

Cobb (finger) threw off a mound without issues Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Cobb missed his last start due to a blister. It sounds as if he's on track to start sometime over the weekend against the Yankees, though his exact return date has yet to be announced.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Officially added to roster

The Yankees officially recalled German from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

German and Justus Sheffield both joined the big club over the weekend after Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's season came to an end, but it wasn't until a few days later before the Yankees made their promotions official. Though the 26-year-old right-hander previously made 13 starts for the Yankees earlier in 2018, he'll likely be ticketed for a long-relief role over the final two weeks of the regular season.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Pitching well out of 'pen

Perez allowed one hit and struck out three over 2.2 scoreless innings in Monday's loss to the Rays.

Perez has been successful since the Rangers moved him out of the rotation and into a bullpen role. He has a 2.45 ERA, giving up three runs on seven hits and five walks over 11 innings as a reliever. The left-hander has been scored upon just once in six appearances out of the bullpen. As expected, his velocity is better in shorter stints, and lefty hitters are 0-for-17 against him. Perez didn't like being moved out of the rotation, and despite his success out the bullpen, he hasn't changed his mind. He told Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News that he considers himself a starter. It will be an interesting offseason for Perez, who is unlikely to have his option picked up at $7.5 million, particularly if the Rangers view him as a reliever. If he wants to start, Perez will have to hit the free-agent market where, as a 27-year-old left-hander with flashes of success, he should generate some interest.

  • Framber Valdez SP | DET

Astros' Framber Valdez: Pitches five scoreless innings

Valdez tossed five innings in Monday's loss to the Mariners. He struck out six, gave up two hits, walked five and didn't factor into the decision.

It was arguably Valdez's best start of his young career as he held his opponent scoreless for the first time. While control is surely an issue, as he's only allowed fewer than three walks in one appearance, the results have been hard to complain about with a 2.20 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 28.2 innings. His next chance to toe the rubber will be Saturday against the Angels.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Seals second win

Glasnow (2-6) picked up his second win of the season against the Rangers on Monday. He hurled six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Glasnow has been a good starter for the Rays since moving into their rotation. He's only allowed more than three earned runs in two of his nine starts and has registered a quality start in three out of his last four. He'll return to the hill Saturday against Toronto.
