German (4-5) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk in a 5-3 loss to the Red Sox. He struck out three.

The right-hander tossed 72 pitches (46 strikes) before getting the hook with the Yankees in a 4-3 hole, and they weren't able to find an equalizer. German has failed to complete five innings in three straight starts and hasn't lasted six frames in six straight, going 0-3 with a 6.28 ERA and 24:8 K:BB through 28.2 IP over that stretch.

Manoah didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Orioles, allowing one unearned run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

The rookie right-hander was in line for his second big-league win when he exited the game after 97 pitches (69 strikes), but an eighth-inning meltdown by the Jays' bullpen instead forced Manoah to settle for his third quality start in six trips to the mound. It was a strong rebound effort after he served up four homers to the O's in his last outing, and the 23-year-old will take a 3.34 ERA and 33:11 K:BB through 29.2 innings into his next start.

Rodon (6-3) took the loss versus Seattle on Friday. He allowed three runs on five hits and four walks with eight strikeouts in five innings.

Rodon continues to pile up strikeouts -- he's fanned eight or more batters in each of his last seven starts. The southpaw gave up multiple runs for the first time in four starts in June and just the fourth time in 13 outings all year. He's been excellent with a 2.06 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 113:24 K:BB across 78.2 innings this year. Rodon will look to bounce back next week versus Minnesota.

Canning allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over five innings in Friday's loss to the Rays. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

All three runs against Canning scored in the first inning, including a two-run single by Austin Meadows. After that, he rolled through four scoreless frames with four punchouts. He's allowed five earned runs over his last three starts, lowering his season ERA to 4.95 through 60 innings. Canning is lined up to face the Yankees on the road next week.

Kikuchi (5-3) allowed a run on two hits and four walks while striking out six in 5.2 innings to earn the win over the White Sox on Friday.

While the four walks matched a season high, Kikuchi benefited from Seattle's defense turning two double plays while he was on the mound. The southpaw has won four straight decisions, and he's allowed one or fewer runs in each of his last three outings. He's pitched to a 3.34 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 87:30 K:BB across 86.1 innings this year. The 30-year-old lines up to face Toronto next week.

Quantrill allowed six runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 4.1 innings during a no-decision versus Minnesota on Friday.

Cleveland spotted Quantrill a three-run lead in the first inning, but he couldn't stop Minnesota's comeback and the right-hander allowed a two-run home run to Alex Kirilloff in the third inning. Quantrill got into trouble again in the fifth, and reliever Nick Sandlin allowed an inherited runner to score. Through 47 innings this year, Quantrill has a 3.64 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB. He'll likely continue to hold a spot in the rotation as Cleveland's top three starters are all injured. The 26-year-old lines up to face Detroit next week.

Dunning (3-6) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts across five innings Friday, earning the win over Kansas City.

Dunning allowed an RBI triple to Whit Merrifield in the third inning and an RBI double to Carlos Santana in the fifth. Friday's win was Dunning's first since May 9. He still isn't pitching very deep into games -- he's only completed six innings twice this year. The right-hander has a 4.63 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 75:25 K:BB across 70 innings. He lines up for his next start in Oakland next week.

McCullers will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chroniclee reports.

McCullers was already slated to start Saturday, but with Friday's postponement leading to a twin bill, the club announced the right-hander as the starter for the nightcap. Framber Valdez, who was scheduled to start Friday, will take the ball in the matinee.

Valdez's scheduled Friday start against the Tigers has been postponed due to rain, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader Saturday, and per Rome, Valdez and Lance McCullers will start the two ends of the twin bill. Valdez will enter that outing with a four-start win streak and a tidy 1.67 ERA.

Farrell landed on the injured list with a strained oblique Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Farrell has pitched well in 15.1 relief innings this season, posting a 1.76 ERA and 1.17 WHIP while striking out 27.0 percent of opposing batters. Daniel Coulombe was recalled in a corresponding move.
