Detmers allowed two runs on five hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Thursday.

Detmers wasn't as dominant as he was versus the Orioles last Friday, but he still turned in his second straight quality start and his third such effort of the season. The 23-year-old southpaw limited the damage Thursday to the first inning, allowing four baserunners and both runs in the opening frame before settling in. He now has a 4.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 57:25 K:BB across 70 innings in 14 starts this season. Detmers won't pitch again until after the All-Star break, but his recent performance makes it seem likely he'll be in the rotation when play resumes, especially if the Angels go back to rolling six starters.

Urquidy will start Friday against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Urquidy was originally slated to start Sunday's game, but instead, he'll bump Jake Odorizzi from Friday's game. Urquidy has pitched very well of late, maintaining a 2.45 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and a 22:8 K:BB across his last 33 innings and five starts.

Valdez allowed two runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Thursday.

Valdez was a little shaky with his command, issuing a bases-loaded walk in the third inning and allowing a run to score on a passed ball in the fourth. He also threw a wild pitch. Despite those obvious mistakes, he was able to post his 15th consecutive quality start, though he's now gone three outings without a win. Valdez owns a 2.66 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 102:43 K:BB across 115 innings in 18 starts overall. He's done well to limit runs and pitch deep into games, which earned him a trip to the All-Star Game in Los Angeles next week.

Perez allowed a run on three hits and four walks with nine strikeouts across five innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Thursday.

Perez was tagged for 13 runs in 18.2 innings across his last three starts. He limited hits better Thursday, but he matched a season high with four walks and threw only 59 of 102 pitches for strikes. The lone run against the southpaw was an inside-the-park home run from Sam Haggerty. Perez closed out the first half of the campaign with a 2.68 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 95:30 K:BB in 111 innings across 18 starts. He's been a pleasant surprise for the Rangers, which earned him his first All-Star nod.

Gausman (6-7) took the loss Thursday against Kansas City, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six in six innings.

Both runs against Gausman came in the fifth inning when he allowed a run-scoring single and a solo homer. Otherwise, he was effective in his return to the mound after missing one start due to an ankle injury. The fifth-inning homer by Bobby Witt was just the third homer Gausman has allowed in 94 innings this season. He'll enter the All-Star break with an excellent 2.87 ERA and 106:18 K:BB through 17 starts.

Gonzales allowed five runs on 11 hits and two walks with four strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Thursday.

Gonzales saw his streak of quality starts end at five, as the Rangers tagged him for four runs in the first two innings. He was able to settle in after that, and the Mariners' offense got him off the hook for the loss by rallying for the lead in the eighth. The southpaw has given up 39 hits over his last 31.2 innings, but he's been effective at minimizing damage by allowing just 14 runs (13 earned) in that span. Gonzales ended the first half of the season with a 3.50 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 53:34 K:BB in 100.1 innings overall.

McKenzie (7-6) earned the win Thursday over Detroit, striking out 12 in eight scoreless innings while allowing five hits and zero walks.

McKenzie scattered five singles, and only one baserunner even reached scoring position. Eleven of his 12 strikeouts were swinging and he fanned five of the last seven batters he faced. It was the first time that he struck out more than eight batters in a game all season, and the 12 punchouts are a new career-best mark for the 24-year-old. Through three starts in July, he is 3-0 with 21 shutout innings, nine hits allowed (all singles) and a 23:6 K:BB.

Flexen will start on short rest Sunday against the Rangers, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Flexen earned the win during Wednesday's matinee against the Nationals, allowing a run on six hits and two walks while striking out one in six innings. Although he threw 85 pitches during the start, the Mariners will elect to line him up on short rest for the team's final game prior to the All-Star break. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 28-year-old on a slight pitch count during Sunday's matchup in Texas.

Severino was placed on the 15-day injured list with a low-grade right lat strain Thursday.

Severino exited Wednesday's start against the Reds due to shoulder tightness and underwent an MRI on Thursday. The right-hander missed most of the 2019 season with a lat strain, but his current injury is being classified as a low-grade issue. The right-hander will still be sidelined until at least July 29, and it's not yet clear when the Yankees expect him to return.

The Royals placed Singer (personal) on the restricted list Thursday.

Singer is one of 10 Royals on the 26-man active roster who won't be eligible for the four-game series in Toronto due to his vaccination status. He'll be formally reinstated from the restricted list for the Royals' first game coming out of the All-Star break July 22 against Tampa Bay. Since he started in Wednesday's series finale with the Tigers, Singer wasn't on track to get a turn through the rotation in Toronto anyway, but his placement on the restricted list nonetheless allows the Royals to bring aboard infielder Michael Massey from Triple-A Omaha as an extra option off the bench.
