Through five Grapefruit League appearances, Foley has allowed five runs on eight hits across 4.1 innings.

Foley was solid for the Tigers in 2024, posting a 3.15 ERA and 1.18 WHIP during the regular season and leading the team with 28 saves, so the righty should have a little leeway despite his spring struggles. He still looks like the top candidate for saves in Detroit to start the year, though newcomer Tommy Kahnle is expected to be in the mix along with holdover Tyler Holton, and possibly Will Vest and Beau Brieske as well. Foley will likely need a strong start to his season to solidify his grip on the closer role.

The Mariners optioned Klein to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Acquired from the Athletics in January, Klein has allowed four runs (two earned) with an 8:3 K:BB over five innings during Cactus League play. He'll represent relief depth at Tacoma and should get an opportunity with the big club eventually.

Swanson has been diagnosed with a median nerve entrapment in his right forearm, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Swanson has had recurring issues with his forearm/elbow and now there's an explanation as to what's going on. All things considered, the diagnosis could be worse, although it's not clear when he might be ready to pitch in games again. For now, Swanson will be shut down from throwing for at least a couple days. He is expected to begin the season on the 15-day injured list.

Paddack (head) is starting Friday's split-squad game against the Rays.

The right-hander departed his previous start Saturday with a head contusion after a liner deflected off his glove, but he never entered the concussion protocol. Paddack has underwhelmed in his two spring outings with four runs allowed and a 3:0 K:BB over 5.2 innings, but he still appears on track to win a job at the back end of Minnesota's rotation.

Otanez is expected to fill a key setup role alongside Jose Leclerc and Tyler Ferguson ahead of closer Mason Miller, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Otanez has a 3.38 ERA with a 11:6 K:BB ratio in 5.1 innings this spring, which is a continuation of his 36.4 percent strikeout rate last year. Unfortunately, he's also displaying his control issues as well (13.2 percent walk rate in 2024). Otanez has a closer-in-waiting profile if he can improve his control, but even with the high walk rate he's still worth a dart in deep fantasy leagues for his strikeout upside.

The Cardinals traded Horn to the Tigers on Thursday in exchange for cash, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Horn was designated for assignment by St. Louis on Thursday, and he didn't have to wait long to join another team's 40-man roster. The 27-year-old lefty turned in a 6.50 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 18 innings with the Red Sox last season, and his struggles have continued into the spring with four runs allowed on three hits and five walks in just 2.1 frames. He'll immediately head to Triple-A upon joining his new organization.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Bradford (elbow) will begin the season on the 15-day injured list, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

An MRI on Bradford's left elbow came back negative for structural damage, but he will be shut down for up to 10 days to allow the soreness to subside. The left-hander will need to rebuild his stamina after that, so it's possible he'll require longer than a minimum stay on the IL. Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker are the primary candidates to fill Bradford's slot in Texas' rotation.

Soriano tossed three innings in a Cactus League contest against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters.

While Soriano allowed frequent traffic on the basepaths, only one of the batters he put on base came around to score. This was the second straight spring appearance during which Soriano issued three walks in three innings, and he's handed out eight free passes over nine frames through four starts this spring. On the plus side, he's also struck out 13 batters after posting a modest 7.7 K/9 in the majors last season. Soriano is locked into a spot in the middle of the Angels' rotation for the coming campaign.

Topa (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Topa left last Wednesday's game due to right shoulder tightness. He said the move was largely precautionary, and he did not require an MRI. Topa expects to throw again Friday. While he's making progress in his recovery, it's not clear if he'll be ready for Opening Day.

Pepiot allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four across four innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

Pepiot made only his second spring start, though he's already stretched out to 72 pitches. He hasn't been particularly sharp in his pair of outings, allowing three earned runs across six innings while maintaining a 6:3 K:BB. The Rays have seven potential starters for their rotation, though Pepiot figures to be locked into a starting role throughout the campaign.
