Matt Moore RP | BOS
Report: Rays' Moore on track to make season debut Wednesday
Rays starting pitcher Matt Moore, who is scheduled to make his fifth and final rehab start Friday for Triple-A Durham, is expected to return to the major-league rotation Wednesday against the Indians, accordng to The Tampa Tribune.
“We know Matt wants to pitch. He wants to pitch today, and that’s a good thing,” manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday. “But I think the way we handle most if not all of our rehab guys, when they deem themselves ready, let’s go give them one more. We’re trying to be as smart as possible. There is no set structure to everything through a doctor or through a trainer, so it’s kind of on the fly. As many injuries as we have, the Tommy John one has not been a big part of this organization.”
