  • White Sox's David Robertson: Unavailable Saturday with leg injury

Robertson was not used in Saturday's save situation because he is dealing with an unspecified leg injury, the Daily Herald's Scot Gregor reports.

Instead the White Sox turned to Nate Jones, who recorded four outs en route to his third save of the season. It is unclear what exactly Robertson is dealing with and his status will be updated when more news is available.

  • White Sox's David Robertson: Bothered by left leg injury

Robertson is dealing with a left leg injury and he's unlikely to be available Sunday.

Robertson did not pitch in Saturday's game against the Braves and at this point the expectation is that he'll be shelved Sunday as the White Sox head into the All-Star break. A clearer diagnosis has not been provided, but Robertson will likely undergo further testing later Saturday.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Yankees' Chad Green: Optioned to Triple-A

Green was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

The Yankees recalled right-hander Nick Goody from Triple-A on Saturday, so Green will be sent down to clear space on the 25-man roster. Green has appeared in four games for the big league club on the season, making three starts and compiling a 7.04 ERA across 15.1 innings.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Set for surgery, placed on DL

Kimbrel (knee) has been diagnosed with a left medial meniscus tear and will undergo surgery Monday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports. He's been placed on the DL and is expected to miss 3-to-6 weeks.

Kimbrel sustained the injury while running prior to Friday's game, and he'll now miss at least the rest of the month, and possibly a portion of August. The 3-to-6-week timetable is far from exact, but a more concrete estimate should be available following Monday's procedure. Boston has not announced who will take over as the interim closer, but Brad Zielger, who was acquired via trade late Friday night, could be the top option.

  • Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS

White Sox's Tommy Kahnle: Recalled from Charlotte

Kahnle was recalled to the White Sox on Saturday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Kahnle was called up prior to Saturday's game against the Braves, in response to Carlos Rodon's sprained left wrist which caused the southpaw to land on the disabled list. During his time with Triple-A Charlotte, Kahnle has touted a 3.00 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP during 27 innings this season. He has also seen time with the big league club this year, making five relief appearances, giving up three earned runs during 4.1 innings on the mound.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Yankees' Chad Green: Blasted for seven runs in Friday loss

Green (1-2) gave up seven earned runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings in Friday's 10-2 loss to the Indians. He struck out six.

It was a mixed bag for the young arm, who only found the strike zone on 49 of his 86 pitches but who also managed to induce 14 swings-and-misses on the night. Green's downfall was clearly the long ball, as he gave up three homers in the first inning to Carlos Santana, Jason Kipnis and Lonnie Chisenhall in a disastrous opening frame. Mike Napoli tagged him with a mammoth 467-foot shot in the third as well and Green got the hook two innings later after giving up a one-out single to Jason Kipnis. Manager Joe Girardi will make a decision on a potential second-half rotation spot for the 25-year-old over the All-Star break.

  • Rangers' Nick Martinez: Optioned to Double-A

Martinez was optioned to Double-A Frisco on Friday and will not start Saturday's game for the Rangers, as was originally planned, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports.

Kyle Lohse was summoned from Triple-A on Friday to make Saturday's start in place of Martinez. It's not a major surprise that Martinez was optioned, given how bad he had been for the Rangers. He will start for Frisco on Saturday and then move to Triple-A Round Rock after the Triple-A All-Star break. It's possible Martinez could find his way back to the big leagues, possibly even to make a few more starts this season, but his 6.45 ERA and 8:15 K:BB in 22.1 innings this year should be enough to scare prospective owners away.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Astros' Collin McHugh: Fails to post quality start Friday

McHugh (5-6) allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings, but received no decision Friday against the Athletics.

McHugh left the contest with a 6-4 lead, but the bullpen was unable to protect it for him. This was the first time he's allowed more than two earned runs in a start over his last five starts, and his ERA is now at 4.59. He'll make his next start after the All-Star break.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Allows six runs in 4.2 innings Friday

Mengden (1-4) allowed six runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six over 4.2 innings, but received no decision Friday at the Astros.

Mengden held the Astros scoreless the first time through the batting order, but followed that up by allowing two runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning, forcing his exit from the contest. After making four solid starts in June, he's now allowed 10 runs in his last 10 innings over two July starts to raise his ERA to 4.54. He'll make his next start after the All-Star break.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Injures knee, awaiting MRI results

Kimbrel injured his knee running before Friday's game and is awaiting the results of an MRI, the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham reports.

Manager John Farrell admitted after Friday's game that Kimbrel will not pitch in the All-Star game, and the team expects to know more about the severity of the injury Saturday. Junichi Tazawa (shoulder) is also ailing, so Koji Uehara would be the obvious option for saves for however long Kimbrel is out. It seems safe to rule Kimbrel out for Saturday and Sunday, considering he has already been ruled out for the All-Star game.
