Jakob Junis RP | TEX
Royals' Jake Junis: Recalled ahead of Monday start
Junis was recalled from Triple-A Omaha and will start Monday's game against the Athletics, Joel Goldberg of FOX Sports Kansas City reports.
After tossing eight innings of one-run ball in his spot start Aug. 6 against the Mariners, Junis didn't have to wait long for another opportunity in the big-league rotation, with Trevor Cahill's (shoulder) recent placement on the disabled list opening up another spot for him. However, aside from the gem he tossed the last time out with the Royals, Junis has failed to replicate his success with Omaha in the majors, with the 24-year-old sporting a 4.70 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 44 innings. With Cahill having yet to resume throwing, Junis could be on tap for a two-start week with a second turn perhaps coming Sunday against the Indians, but fantasy owners in deeper mixed and AL-only settings may want to see more from him before entrusting him with a spot in their active lineups.

Michael Fulmer RP | NYY
Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Activated for start Monday
Fulmer (elbow) was activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of his scheduled start Monday against the Rangers.
As expected, Fulmer missed only slightly more than the minimum amount of time after a bout with right elbow neuritis, with the Tigers ultimately clearing him to rejoin the rotation after he was able to complete a bullpen session over the weekend without incident. Assuming he makes it though Monday's turn no worse for the wear, Fulmer should pick up a second start this week Sunday against the Dodgers. Drew VerHagen will move back to the bullpen after making two starts in Fulmer's stead.

Christopher Smith RP | WAS
Blue Jays' Chris Smith: Outrighted to Triple-A
Smith cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Smith compiled a 5.40 ERA and 1.60 WHIP through five major-league innings before being cast off the 40-man roster over the weekend. He'll head back to Buffalo -- where he owns a 4.26 ERA and 20:3 K:BB through 25.1 innings this season -- to continue to serve as organizational bullpen depth.

Brad Boxberger RP | CHC
Rays' Brad Boxberger: Dominant inning-plus outing in loss
Boxberger struck out all four batters he faced in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Indians.
Boxberger impressively disposed of Yan Gomes, Bradley Zimmer, Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor on 16 pitches, 13 of which he threw for strikes. The dominant outing was an extension of a strong stretch for the right-hander, one that's seen him post five consecutive scoreless appearances while compiling a 9:0 K:BB and lowering his ERA to 2.87.

Trevor May RP | ATH
Twins' Trevor May: Increases throwing distance to 60 feet
May (elbow) posted on his personal Twitter account Monday that he will soon throw from 60 feet off flat ground.
May kicked off his throwing program about two weeks ago after he was limited in workouts for nearly five months following Tommy John surgery in March. The right-hander will move slowly through the rehab process and is expected to still be restricted when spring training begins next February, but he could rejoin the Twins as a starter or reliever at some point in 2018.

Jose Leclerc RP | SD
Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Tosses scoreless frame Sunday
Leclerc walked one batter during a scoreless ninth inning in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.
Since picking up a save July 23 and fueling speculation that he could be a regular part of the Rangers' unsettled closing situation, Leclerc has been used exclusively in non-save situations. Aside from a bumpy outing Friday in which he allowed three runs over two thirds of an inning, Leclerc has been generally solid since the All-Star break, likely keeping him in line as the top setup man to Alex Claudio. However, with Claudio performing even better than Leclerc over that time, it doesn't look as though manager Jeff Banister will consider a closing change any time soon.

Michael Fulmer RP | NYY
Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Ready to return Monday
Fulmer (elbow) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start Monday against the Rangers, the Detroit Free Press reports.
The corresponding move to open up a spot on the 25-man roster for Fulmer took place after Sunday's game, when Bruce Rondon was optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Fulmer missed two weeks with his injury, which was diagnosed in the days following a start on the road against the Yankees on July 31 in which he allowed six earned runs on seven hits over six innings.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Picks up win in extra innings
Kimbrel (4-0) struck out two over 1.1 innings to earn the victory in Boston's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Yankees.
Kimbrel entered a tied game in the bottom of the ninth, so he didn't have a chance at a save, but he was closer-like, shutting down all four batters faced.
-
Ken Giles RP | ATL
Astros' Ken Giles: Works two-inning save Sunday
Giles allowed a hit and struck out two over two innings to pick up his 23rd save in Sunday's 2-1 win over Texas.
With the Astros bullpen having been the worst in the majors since the All-Star break (5.45 ERA) and the team riding a five-game losing streak, manager A.J. Hinch wasn't fooling around with this one. When Chris Devenski began the eighth inning with two walks, the manager went to Giles, who squelched that rally and then worked around a ninth-inning single to record his first save since July 28. There could be more multi-inning save attempts going forward for Giles until Hinch finds some stability among the setup crew, which was bolstered Sunday when Houston acquired Tyler Clippard from the White Sox.

Matt Andriese RP | MIA
Rays' Matt Andriese: Goes three innings in first rehab start
Andriese (hip) allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk over three-plus innings in High-A Charlotte's loss to Bradenton on Sunday. He recorded a pair of strikeouts.
Andriese wasn't at his sharpest, especially considering the level of competition, but the most important aspect of his outing was that he apparently got through it without setbacks. According to Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times, the right-hander threw 35 of his 51 pitches for strikes. Andriese is slated for multiple starts in the minors before a return to the big-league club.
