  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Notches 13th save Friday

Treinen gave up two hits and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to collect his 13th save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Rangers.

He's put his early-September struggles behind him, converting three straight save chances and lowering his ERA on the month to 3.60. Treinen's strikeout rate and BABIP have both improved since coming over to Oakland, and he'll head into the offseason as the favorite to open 2018 as the A's closer.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Stifles Rangers on Friday

Graveman (6-4) picked up the win over the Rangers on Friday, allowing only one run on six hits and three walks over seven innings while striking out four.

The righty's now put together a tidy 2.70 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 20 innings this month despite a lackluster 10:8 K:BB. Graveman will take a 4.17 ERA into his final start of the season Wednesday at home against the Mariners.

  • Rangers' Nick Martinez: Takes loss despite quality start Friday

Martinez (3-7) took the loss against the A's on Friday, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk over six innings.

He eked out his first quality start in September and his seventh of the season. Martinez's 5.42 ERA and 5.5 K/9 have made him a liability in most fantasy formats, but he'll still take the mound one more time this season at home against the Astros on Wednesday.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Notches 34th save of 2017 on Friday

Kimbrel pitched a scoreless inning on one hit to earn his 34th save of the season Friday against the Reds.

Kimbrel was protecting a one-run lead, and despite giving up a hit, was able to close out the contest on just eight pitches. With a microscopic 1.36 ERA on the season, he continues to be one of the elite closers in the majors.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Tops Royals despite allowing 10 hits

Lopez (3-3) allowed six runs -- only two earned -- on 10 hits without walking or striking out a batter through 6.1 innings to take the win against Kansas City.

Lopez has been underwhelming through his seven starts this season with a 4.54 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 5.0 K/9. Pitching for a basement-dwelling club without moving the strikeout needle is a poor recipe for fantasy success. Lopez lines up to make his final start of the year at home against the Angels.

  • Ken Giles RP | ATL

Astros' Ken Giles: Picks up 33rd save

Giles pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his 33rd save of the season during Friday's win over the Angels.

Giles has now pitched six scoreless innings over his past six appearances to improve to an impressive 2.37 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 82 strikeouts through 60.2 innings for the campaign. He's converted 33 of his 37 save opportunities and projects to remain a high-end reliever in all fantasy settings closing out games for the Astros.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Astros' Collin McHugh: Start moved to Monday

McHugh's next scheduled start has been moved to Monday against the Rangers, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McHugh had been scheduled to start Sunday's game, but the Astros will push him back a day and send Lance McCullers to the hill Sunday instead. McHugh picked up a win when he last took the mound Tuesday, as he allowed just one run and struck out five batters over five innings against the White Sox.

  • Tigers' Warwick Saupold: Allows run Thursday

Saupold allowed one run in one-third of an inning Thursday against the Twins.

Saupold's ERA continues to climb this season, rising to 4.80 after Thursday's performance. Over his last 11 appearances, he has given up 13 runs in only 10.2 innings -- demonstrating that he is prone to giving up the big inning. However, there's hope that he can become more than just a low-leverage pitcher out of the bullpen, since he's pitched well in Triple-A over the last two seasons (ERA of 2.90 in 2017 and 2.30 in 2016).

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Tigers' Buck Farmer: Cleared for Sunday start

Farmer (shoulder) has been cleared to make his next scheduled start Sunday against the Twins, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Farmer was battered for five runs (four earned) over 2.2 innings to take the loss in Monday's start to the Athletics and exited the contest with tightness in his trapezius muscle. The injury looked like it could prevent Farmer from completing a two-start week, but he's apparently resumed throwing without pain, prompting manager Brad Ausmus to call upon the right-hander to take the hill for the series finale. Even if he proves to be 100 percent healthy for Sunday's turn, Farmer is probably worth avoiding in most settings, as he's been lit up for 19 runs (17 earned) over 20.1 innings in his five starts since rejoining the Tigers' rotation.

  • Chih-Wei Hu RP | TB

Rays' Chih-Wei Hu: Officially joins Rays on Thursday

Hu officially joined the Rays from Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 23-year-old right-hander turned in a solid body of work with the Bulls in 2017, generating a 3.06 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB in 61.1 innings across 31 appearances, including four starts. Hu has also logged eight innings at the big-league level this season, ringing up nine strikeouts while posting a 1.13 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in four appearances.
