Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Placed on DL
Pomeranz was moved to the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with left biceps tendinitis, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports.
The move is retroactive to Saturday, so Pomeranz will be eligible to return June 12, although it's unclear if he'll be ready after the minimum. Pomeranz felt discomfort following his last start Thursday against the Astros, per Drellich. More information on a possible return date will likely surface in the near future.

Liam Hendriks RP | CHC
Athletics' Liam Hendriks: Returns to health
Hendriks (groin) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.
Hendriks landed on the disabled list April 14, but he's finally ready to return to action after suffering a groin strain. In six appearances this season out of the bullpen, Hendriks has allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out one across three innings.

Zack Littell RP | ARI
Twins' Zack Littell: To serve as 26th man
Littell was added to the major-league roster ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox, Dustin Morse of the Minnesota Twins reports.
Littell is scheduled to start Game 2 of the doubleheader, although he figures to head right back to the minors following the conclusion of Tuesday's action. Through five appearances at Triple-A Rochester, he's posted a 2.57 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 30:10 K:BB over 28 innings.

Aroldis Chapman RP | BOS
Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Records one-out save versus Tigers
Chapman struck out the only batter he faced to earn his 14th save of the season Monday against the Tigers.
The Yankees entered the ninth with a five-run lead, but they called on Chapman after an error and two doubles plated a pair of runs. He wasted no time, pumping in five of six pitches for strikes as he punched out Victor Martinez to end it. Chapman has been dominant of late, allowing just one run over his last 9.2 innings to lower his ERA to 1.46 and striking out 15 during that span.

Drew VerHagen RP | STL
Tigers' Drew VerHagen: Struggles in Monday's start
VerHagen (0-2) took the loss in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Yankees, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
VerHagen had been pitching well as a starter with Triple-A Toledo recently, compiling a 1.32 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB in 27.1 innings, but he struggled mightily against one of the better lineups in the majors. The 27-year-old was done in by three home runs, including a three-run shot by Austin Romine in the fourth inning. With rotation members Francisco Liriano (hamstring) and Jordan Zimmermann (shoulder) both expected to remain on the disabled list until at least next week, VerHagen could get another turn this weekend, though he'll have to pitch better if he wants to stick around with the Tigers past that.

Anthony Banda RP | MIN
Rays' Anthony Banda: Will require Tommy John surgery
Banda (elbow) will be forced to undergo Tommy John surgery, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
This is a brutal blow for Banda and the Rays, as the southpaw is now the team's third advanced pitching prospect (Brent Honeywell, Jose De Leon) to require Tommy John surgery this year. Banda, who headlined the package of players the Rays received in return for Steven Souza (pectoral), had compiled a solid 3.64 ERA across eight starts (42 innings) with Triple-A Durham prior to suffering the injury. He also posted a 3.68 ERA across 14.2 innings (one start, two relief appearances) with the big club. The 23-year-old lefty will now embark on a long recovery process that will likely keep him sidelined until 2020.
-
Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS
Yankees' Tommy Kahnle: Sent to minors
Kahnle was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
Kahnle has struggled mightily for the Yankees this season, compiling an unsightly 7.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 10.0 BB/9 across nine innings, so he'll head back to the minors to clear his head and work some kinks out. Adam Warren, who was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding roster move, will take his place in the bullpen and on the active roster. Kahnle owns an impressive 2.60 ERA and 12.1 K/9 over 90 innings the past two seasons, so he should be back with the big club after he gets back on track with the RailRiders.

Drew VerHagen RP | STL
Tigers' Drew VerHagen: Added to roster ahead of start
The Tigers selected VerHagen's contract from Triple-A Toledo ahead of his scheduled start Monday in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Since being dropped from the 40-man roster in late April, VerHagen has emerged as a dominant arm in the Toledo rotation, submitting a 1.32 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB in 27.1 innings. The right-hander's track record as both a starter and reliever in the majors has been far more checkered, however, so it will be difficult to stream him with much confidence against one of baseball's top offenses. If VerHagen acquits himself well in the difficult matchup, he could earn a second start in the Tigers' weekend series against the Indians with rotation members Francisco Liriano (hamstring) and Jordan Zimmermann (shoulder) both expected to remain on the disabled list until at least next week.

Jose Alvarado RP | PHI
Rays' Jose Alvarado: Blows save opportunity Sunday
Alvarado (0-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk over one inning in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday. He struck out three.
Asked to protect a 1-0 lead entering the bottom of the eighth, Alvarado dug an immediate hole by issuing a leadoff walk to Ryon Healy. A Brad Miller error then allowed Guillermo Heredia to reach and simultaneously sent pinch runner Andrew Romine to third. A pair of RBI singles by Denard Span and Dee Gordon sandwiched around a Mike Zunino strikeout subsequently gave the Mariners a 2-1 lead they wouldn't relinquish, although the 23-year-old southpaw kept the deficit manageable by impressively retiring Jean Segura and Mitch Haniger on punchouts to close out the frame. The stumble resulted in Alvarado being charged with both his second loss and blown save of the season, and it extended the uncertainty surrounding the status of the Rays' closer role following the trade of Alex Colome to the Mariners late last month.

Lou Trivino RP | PHI
Athletics' Lou Trivino: Grabs third win Sunday
Trivino (3-0) fired two scoreless innings in a win over the Royals on Sunday, allowing a walk and recording two strikeouts.
After starter Daniel Gossett was forced from the game following 63 pitches due to elbow discomfort, Trivino came on and delivered a pair of near-perfect frames. The 26-year-old has now whittled his ERA down to a minuscule 0.82, a figure he's partly attained by generating scoreless efforts in 12 of his last 13 appearances.
