Marte (undisclosed) was activated from the injured list Friday against the Athletics.

Marte has been out for nearly a month, as he hit the injured list Aug. 22. He was recalled for his major-league debut only two days before being sidelined, and he threw two shutout innings in that outing. Marte should have the chance to pitch out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season.

Brasier was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Friday.

Brasier made five appearances after being activated from the IL in early September, allowing five runs (two earned) on nine hits and two walks across 4.1 innings. He'll head to Worcester with Matt Barnes (illness) returning from the COVID-19 injured list, but Brasier should be a candidate to return to the big leagues if Boston suffers an injury in its bullpen.

Barnes (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of Friday's game against Baltimore.

Barnes was thought to be in line to return for Wednesday's series finale against the Mariners, but instead the right-hander got another rehab outing in with Double-A Portland. Barnes could have a chance to slot back in as Boston's closer should he pitch well during his first few outings back, but he seems unlikely to reclaim the ninth inning right away, especially considering that he allowed a pair of runs in his final rehab appearance.

King will miss the remainder of the season after recently undergoing thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

King was initially sidelined in July with what was described as shoulder inflammation. It's now been revealed that he's dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome, but the surgery should have him ready to go come spring training. King posted a 3.52 ERA and 40:12 K:BB across 46 innings this season, which should leave him as a candidate for high-leverage innings entering 2022 if he makes a full recovery.

Heasley is listed as the starting pitcher for Friday's game against Seattle.

The right-hander's contract was selected from Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday and he immediately became the obvious choice to toe the rubber for the series opener against Seattle. With Heasley now penciled in on the lineup card, he's officially slated to make his major-league debut. He posted a 3.33 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 120 K:BB across 105.1 Double-A innings.

Warren (undisclosed) isn't expected to be activated until at least Monday, per MLB.com.

Manager Joe Maddon had previously indicated that Warren could return Sunday against Oakland, but the right-hander is now likely to remain on the injured list until the team's series opener against Houston on Monday, at the earlier. Warren has been out due to COVID-19 protocols since Aug. 25.

Marte (undisclosed) is expected to be activated for the Angels' series opener against Oakland on Friday, per MLB.com.

Previous reports had Marte possibly returning Sunday, but it now appears that he will be activated ahead of schedule. The right-hander has pitched in only one game with the big club this season and will likely fill a low-leverage role upon his return.

Heasley's contract was selected from Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

The righty is likely to start Friday's game against the Mariners, as scheduled starter Brady Singer (undisclosed) went on the injured list. Heasley has posted a 3.33 ERA and 120:34 K:BB in 105.1 innings across 22 starts at Double-A this year, although the leap to the MLB level could certainly be difficult for the 2018 13th-round pick.

Tate allowed two hits and struck out one in two scoreless innings versus the Yankees on Thursday.

After a rocky start to September, Tate has been solid with 3.2 scoreless innings in his last three appearances. The 27-year-old has been trusted with more high-leverage work as the season has progressed. He's posted a 4.77 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 46:21 K:BB in 60.1 innings while picking up two saves, six holds, a blown save and an 0-6 record through 56 outings.

Sulser (5-4) struck out two in two perfect innings to earn the win Thursday versus the Yankees.

The 31-year-old kept the game tied in the ninth and 10th innings before Baltimore walked it off on a bases-loaded Austin Hays single. Sulser has pitched five consecutive scoreless innings after a shaky run of performances when the calendar flipped from August to September. For the year, he owns a 2.98 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 71:22 K:BB in 57.1 innings as one of Baltimore's most effective high-leverage arms.
