Soto (2-3) allowed an unearned run on a hit and two strikeouts in 1.1 innings to take the loss during Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Soto has been effective as the Tigers' primary closer recently, and he had tossed 8.2 scoreless innings over his nine appearances prior to Sunday's outing while converting all six of his save chances during that time. Although he was charged with his third loss of the year since he allowed the Yankees' ghost runner to come across in the bottom of the 10th inning Sunday, he's built up decent job security as Detroit's preferred ninth-inning option.

Heasley (0-3) took the loss Sunday versus the Astros, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

Heasley didn't help his own cause much -- he hit one batter and added a pair of wild pitches, one of which led to the Astros' second run. The right-hander has posted consecutive quality starts, but he remains in search of his first win of the season. He's at a 4.62 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 15:18 K:BB across 25.1 innings in five starts. Sunday was a step in the right direction in terms of limiting walks, as he allowed three or more in his other four outings. He'll try to find more control in a home start versus the Orioles next week.

Montero retired the only batter he faced to secure the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Royals.

Following Ryan Pressly's ejection for throwing inside and Phil Maton's inability to retire any of the three batters he faced, Montero was able to end a bases-loaded threat. He got Nicky Lopez to ground out to end the game. This was Montero's fourth save of the year, but his first since May 6. He's posted a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB across 21.2 innings while adding six holds this season. Should Pressly face a suspension for his actions Sunday, Montero figures to be favored for potential save chances while he is absent.

Diplan was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Diplan spent just under two weeks in the Orioles' bullpen, and he allowed a run on two hits and five walks while striking out eight in 5.1 innings over four appearances during his time with the major-league club. However, he hadn't pitched since May 31 and should see more consistent work in the minors.

Pressly was ejected from Sunday's game against the Royals in the bottom of the ninth inning for throwing inside to Michael Taylor, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Pressly was warned for throwing inside before he was ultimately thrown out of the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. If the league ultimately determines that he was intentionally throwing inside, Pressly could face a suspension. Prior to Sunday's ejection, the right-hander allowed a run on no hits and a walk while failing to strike out a batter in two-thirds of an inning.

Swanson (elbow) fired a perfect second inning during which he recorded two strikeouts in High-A Everett's loss to Eugene on Saturday.

It was certainly an encouraging sign for the 28-year-old after last having seen game action May 10. Swanson was in the midst of an outstanding start to the season that included a 1.29 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 21:1 K:BB across 13 appearances, and Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports the right-hander may be deemed ready for activation Monday ahead of the start of a series against the Astros at Minute Maid Park.

Giles (finger) has allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.1 innings across three rehab outings with Triple-A Tacoma and High-A Everett.

The veteran reliever opened his rehab assignment in Tacoma with a solid outing, allowing an unearned run over an inning while recording two strikeouts against Triple-A Las Vegas last Sunday. Giles then transferred over to High-A Everett in order to limit his travel and has struggled against lesser competition, but the inconsistency isn't entirely surprising considering he last saw regular-season action in 2020. The 31-year-old is expected to be given plenty of time to work the kinks out, however, with the Associated Press reporting manager Scott Servais confirmed Giles still has "a few more outings ahead of him" before activation is considered.

Bautista (2-1) pitched a perfect seventh inning to earn the win Saturday versus the Guardians.

The Orioles led from the third inning on, but starter Tyler Wells went only four frames, failing to qualify for the decision. Keegan Akin followed with two innings of work, allowing two runs, but the official scorer awarded the win to Bautista instead. The right-hander has now allowed five hits and three walks while striking out six in eight scoreless innings across his last eight appearances. He's picked up three holds and two wins in that span, and he's posted a 1.96 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB in 23 innings overall.

Loaisiga (shoulder) is scheduled to throw Monday, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

This will be the first time he has thrown since going on the injured list with shoulder discomfort in late May. Loaisiga is without a timetable to return.

Lopez struck out one and hit a batter with a pitch in 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday to record his seventh save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Guardians.

After giving up unearned runs in each of his last two appearances, Lopez was sharper Saturday over 20 pitches (13 strikes). He's worked more than one inning in each of those games, perhaps signaling manager Brandon Hyde is shifting him into more of a high-leverage role than pure ninth-inning duties, but no other O's reliever has picked up a save since May 12.
