Elijah Morgan RP | KC
Guardians' Eli Morgan: Picks up save
Morgan allowed an unearned run on a hit in one inning Monday. He struck out one and earned a save against Oakland.
Morgan entered a 12-10 game in the 10th inning and coughed up just one run to finish off the late-night slugfest. He's now worked through three innings with a 5:1 K:BB while allowing just one unearned run. It was Morgan's first career save but he shouldn't see too many opportunities moving forward.

Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE
Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Blows save chance
Clase (1-0) allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in one inning during Monday's win over Oakland. He was charged with a blown save but earned the win.
Seth Brown sent the game to extras by taking Clase deep in the ninth inning of a 10-8 contest. Clase had fired two perfect frames to begin his 2023 campaign before Monday's misstep. Fortunately for him, Cleveland's offense took care of business in the 10th. He blew just four saves in 46 chances last season.

Garrett Hill RP | DET
Tigers' Garrett Hill: Secures first save
Hill tossed one inning Monday, giving up one unearned run and earning a save over the Astros.
Hill entered a 7-5 game in the 11th inning and finished things off after allowing only the automatic runner to score. He coughed up two runs in his first appearance this season. Alex Lange blew a save chance but should still have a grip on the closer role in Detroit.

Alex Lange RP | KC
Tigers' Alex Lange: Blows first save chance
Lange allowed a run on two hits and a walk in one inning during Monday's win over Houston. He was charged with a blown save.
Entering the game with a 5-4 lead, Lange coughed up an RBI double to Jose Abreu to force extra innings. It was Lange's first save opportunity of the year. He primarily relied on his curveball, which forced four whiffs on nine swings.

Felix Bautista RP | BAL
Orioles' Felix Bautista: Notches second save
Bautista struck out two batters and earned a save with a perfect inning against Texas on Monday.
Bautista slammed the door about as fast as possible, needing just seven pitches to finish off the 2-0 victory. He's already picked up two saves this season with a blown chance sandwiched in between. After taking a loss Saturday against Boston, he was thrown right back into the ninth-inning role Monday. Bautista threw three splitters against the Rangers and each one forced a swinging strike.

Carlos Estevez RP | KC
Angels' Carlos Estevez: Fans side in first 2023 outing
Estevez tossed a scoreless inning against Oakland on Sunday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three batters.
Estevez opened spring training as the possible favorite for closing opportunities this season, but he struggled mightily in Cactus League play to throw that scenario into question. The right-hander made his regular-season Angels debut Sunday, taking over in the ninth inning with Los Angeles staked to a 6-0 lead. There was both good and bad in Estevez's appearance -- he allowed back-to-back two-out baserunners but kept Oakland off the scoreboard and recorded all three outs via strikeout. It remains to be seen how manager Phil Nevin will eventually manage save situations, but Estevez should at least be among the top options to close when opportunities arise.

Josh Fleming RP | TOR
Rays' Josh Fleming: Could be bulk reliever Tuesday
Fleming could be used as a bulk reliever rather than a traditional starter Tuesday against the Nationals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Fleming is currently listed as the starter for Tuesday's contest, but manager Kevin Cash said the team will discuss after Monday's game whether to use an opener ahead of the lefty on Tuesday. Fantasy managers that have Fleming rostered in deeper leagues will be rooting for him to be a bulk reliever, as it should give him a better shot to pick up a win.

Liam Hendriks RP | CHC
White Sox's Liam Hendriks: Starting last round of chemo Monday
The White Sox announced Monday that Hendriks began his last round of chemotherapy to treat non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Though a timetable for the closer's return isn't yet clear, the White Sox didn't place Hendriks on the 60-day injured list prior to Opening Day, creating hope that he could be back before the end of May. Reynaldo Lopez has notched the team's lone save so far in the early going.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Struggles in non-save situation
Lopez allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one across one inning in Sunday's 6-3 win against the Astros. He did not factor into the decision.
Lopez entered the game in the ninth inning with the White Sox up by five runs. He struggled with his control by walking the first two batters he faced before allowing a pair of singles to account for the damage. Lopez appears to be the preferred option to close out games in Chicago, but he has now allowed three earned runs across his first two innings of work.
